Over the past few weeks, Jimmy52905, Tornado, Buster Beetle, Slash Man, and I have been working on a massive project we've (I've) named Project Megasong. The objective for Project Megasong is a daunting one, port or re-port every robot master stage theme in Megaman 1-9, 2GB, 5GB, and Rockman & Forte. However, between the five of us, we've made a large dent in the work so far. Some songs will be sampled, some will not, it depends on what we want to do for that song. However, each song will not overwrite the samples used in non-yoshi SFX, death music, and level completion music. Here's our current list of finished songs:
Don't be afraid to leave us feedback on our work, we're doing for the community, so we wish for it to be as good as we can get it. Also note that some of the ports aren't the lastest versions because we haven't uploaded the lastest version yet.
Now go and post for everlasting peace!
Wow you guys. I had no idea you were planning something like this. I saw you guys (mostly Atma) showing off lots of Mega Man ports on the IRc, but I thought he was just doing that for fun, not for a huge project.
And Jimmy's BubbleMan port is great. Nice work, all of you.
Most of them sound good so far. Let's hope it's a project that you guys can actually finish - it may actually force me to listen to more Mega Man tracks.
It's nice to see you're limiting the use of samples as well. Most of the ones you're overwriting are fine, though I'd be very careful with the orchestra hit. Do try to remember that if you alter it, Yoshi's cry will be altered as well.

Figures that I really notice this thread right when I have to go to bed....
Well, you guys, nice job so far. Atma, I'm not so sure about that Elec Man port...the instruments sound more than a little odd for that song if you ask me. But for the most part, the stuff sounds good. (Jimmy's port of the Dr. Wily theme is, of course, awesome, but I already knew that from his chocolate level design contest entry.) Now if I only had a sample for @2, it would make it so much easier to listen to that Heat Man port...ahem. I hope you guys finish the project, that's all I can say!
Aw fudge. I love mega Man music and I just learned how to successfully port songs. *Sighs* Well, maybe there will be a "Project Sonicsong" eventually. I would love to join that.Check out my Youtube channel! 獣耳 Brony for life.
It would be nice if you could perhaps organize the songs in a table format (as in, start with MM1 tracks in one table, MM2 tracks in the next, etc.) and work your way through them. Come to think of it, any sort of "by game" organization would be nice here, rather than "by author".
Just a personal nitpick, really. I haven't really played Mega Man that much, so just seeing "x man" everywhere gets a bit confusing for me.
The last one is fairly old and I've actually just started it over altogether anyways. I did notice that my percussion doesn't change as the song goes along. It probably isn't that difficult to change though, considering most Megaman songs have a steady percussion beat.
Edit: Whoops, I linked the Wave Man spc with the loud @0. Fixed now.
Sure, I'll reorganize them right away.
You have my vote in, I like your ability to emulate 8-bit. Do you ever go on IRC? It'd be helpful for us as we tend to organize this project in #lolmusic. We can also give more feedback there.
