Does anyone remember the shiny green espeon in battle tower? Me and my frined wanted it, so we used cheats to steal pokemon from trainers. When we caught it, it turned purple again.
I remember that thing. I really wanted it, but I didn't have an action replay, and couldn't try to catch it. I always wanted to see if it would work though.
On Pokemon Diamond, I found one shiny Dugtrio in the one place in the game where a sandstorm is always occurring (Battle Zone, sandy area) and caught it. This is the only Shiny I've caught legitimately. Unfortunately, I've traded it away...
I did catch a Budew with PokeRus toward the beginning of Platinum...
Even though this is slightly unrelated to the topic, I hope to come across some shiny Pokemon in heart gold. Maybe I'll get lucky, anyways, back on topic, I guess shiny Pokemon aren't as uncommon as I thought.

I like January because it smells of summer and stuff
I remember I saw a shiny Poochyena once when I was a kid. At the time I had no idea what a shiny pokemon was so ended up Ko-ing it. It wasn't until a couple years later that I realized what I had done.
Have you guys heard of the Masuda method for dp? Basically if you trade foreign pokemon to your game like a japanese pokemon to an english game, you have a better chance of hatching a shiny.
How it works:
Basically, the game checks to see if the breeding parents have different nationalities from one another. If they do (I.E. English/Japanese, Japanese/German), it goes through the shiny frames 4 times.
Therefore, the chances of obtaining a shiny go from 1/8192 to the much better 1/2048.
It will still be tricky to hatch a shiny, but it will still be easier.
Yeah. Masuda had posted this on his blog, but as a hint, and others have figured it out. I'm most likely going to trade my english shiny Pidgeotto over to Diamon or Heart gold and see if it works. Doesn't the rate also go down if you breed a shiny with a normal?
Oh, and you guys are more than welcome to post screenshots of your shinies if possible.

WOW!
I caught one too.
And a Shiny Rydon.
(Now a Shiny Ryperior)
And a Shiny Tropius from a Friend.
The same friend is going to give me a Shiny Arceus and Celebi.
He prefers the regular versions of them so he is getting rid of his shiny versions.
Also he offered me a Shiny Milotic, but I said no.
Curently Chaining for a Shiny Ditto and a Shiny Beldum.
Also soon to be Soft Reseting for a Shiny Eevee.
Shiny Rattata, shiny Starly. Rattata got traded out for a different after a while and I haven't played Diamond in ages. What about rare item drops in other RPGs? I have 3 Tisiphone Edges in GS2, obtained through RNG-related trickery...
I don't have any shinies of my own, but my brother and sister each have one (and a story with them).
My brother has an Oddish curse. R/B/Y, he was still new to Pokemon and wasted a Master Ball on an Oddish. Saved the game after. G/S/C, accidentally used his Master Ball on an Oddish again. R/S/E, SHINY ODDISH GET. Not in a Master Ball though. My brother is odd. MLIA
My sister kept bugging me to play my LeafGreen version which I had long migrated all the Pokemon from. So she starts a new game and proceeds to get bored before even the first gym. I check her Pokemon party, and she had 4 Rattata, which I was going to release until I noticed one of them was shiny. She didn't even realize there was a difference until I told her.
I actually have seen many shinies through my pokemon runs. I have a shiny Beldum, Delcatty, Luvdisk, Lanturn, Bastiodon, Golbat, and a couple more I can't remember all obtained or traded from/in games I own. And yes, I obtained them the right way.
I would have had a shiny geodude too, it it weren't for Selfdestruct.
Looks like the "1 in 8192 battles all the time everytime" rule really does like me, and helps me out.
On another note, Pokemon Emerald hated me however, and I have never found a shiny pokemon in that game. The Beldum, Delcatty, and Lanturn are all from Pokemon Ruby.
A tip to finding shinies in Pokemon D/P/PL: The pokerader + max repel combo really works out. If you see grass glowing instead of shaking, that means a shiny pokemon is there. The shinies get slightly more common the higher you go. I'd be suprised if anyone goes through a 40 chain without seeing one honestly, but after 40 the shiny rate evens out, making you start over.
Just a helpful tip there.

Well, it took me years just to get one that wasn't the Red Gyarados. After actually trying to get shinies, I got a shiny Drifloon, a shiny Magikarp (which is now a Gyarados), a shiny Giratina (from Platinum!! ), and a shiny Uxie.
I have a shiny Floatzel, which I caught as a Buizel in level 9 in Pearl, if I recall correctly. The funny thing is, I was willing to catch whatever Buizel showed up first, and I ended up coming across a SHINY one... so I obviously went and caught it.
I also have a shiny Kingdra, though it isn't technically mine, since a friend of mine handed it out to me. Oh, and there's also this one shiny Beedrill that I caught as a Weedle in Pokémon Silver... good times, good times.
My very first shiny was a shiny Giratina. Saving in front of him, and resetting if he isn't shiny. very useful for ledgend shinyes.
Wow, that must've taken a lot of tries. I guess you used the masterball on it? Because catching Giratina without it is already hard, and would propably take a few tries to get. It would propably take weeks to get a shiny Giratina without the masterball.
