TL;DR if you're planning on releasing something with source code you have to understand the consequences.

Certainly.

As for your example, people get to play your game regardless. At that point it comes down to what you want when making your game. Do you want your name plastered all over something popular? Do you just want to make something people will enjoy? Something else?

Ignoring all the fluff in this sort of debate, it ultimately comes down to whether the creator is A) Making the game for themselves (for the recognition, money, ect), B) Making the game for the love of the art form, or C) Somewhere inbetween.

When money's involved, it's easy to justify closed source because they could be trying to make a living off it. Without money, in non-profit projects such as SMW hacking, that excuse doesn't exist. So, it depends solely on your opinion: Is making games for one's own recognition alright?

If it is fine with you, or if you don't think people's motivations are any of your business, then you still have to understand one thing: Of closed and open source, one helps the community as a whole go forward, the other withholds information and makes people reinvent the wheel on a regular basis.
I bow down to your words of wisdom
(Hey guys it's just a game)

Besides, did nintendo ever intend on people hacking their game? It's not like anyone can really do anything about anyone unlocking there hack and stealing stuff from it.

This thread is getting way off-topic, I thought we were supposed to discuss bugs/issues with RLM. Get over with it guys, if someone steals your content then you can tell a mod.

Anyways, I tested TSRPR and a few other hacks and they seems to work fine on every level. Nice work!
Yes, this thread is about bugs in RLM. Some opinions on "hack locking" expressed may be buggy, yes! But that still has nothing to do with RLM. ;)

Getting back on topic (and hoping it stays that way!) I see mention of Mario Infinity Series creating a zero-byte file. This could be because the hack is not locked. And this is indeed a bug! The file should not be created if the original hack is not locked. Changeset aa8af2168a0a solves that problem (and some others; including a possible double-free bug).

Any "garbage levels" that people are seeing are probably produced by RLM 1.3.

The full 1.4 release will include a fix to the "zero-byte" file bug. If there are no other bugs found over the next week or so, I will build version 1.4 for final release.
A strange thing I noticed is that when I unlocked the TSRPR, only one level bugs appeared:

But the other levels works fine.
I've tested the Panic In The Mushroom Kingdom 2, which did not work in older versions of RLM, but now, he works fine too.

You're right, I had caught that too when going through all the levels and then just totally forgot about it when I posted that TSRPR was good to go. Level 067 with an error message stating that LM has detected 1 fatal error in the Sprite Layout Data.
I can't seem to find level 0x0067 in the TSRPR overworld. In other words, I don't know how to access it in-game. :( And that makes it very difficult to debug this one.

Can anyone help with a method of reaching the level in a quick play-through? Your reward will be getting this bug (and others like it) fixed! And maybe a cookie, we'll see. :D
A quick playthrough to get to that level? That would be difficult, seeing as it is located in the final level of the bonus world (Braindamaged Finale, if I remember correctly), which requires all switch palaces (which are located in the levels with big level dots) to be pressed before you can access it. You get to the bonus world from Crashlanded Castle, which appears in the Vanilla Dome equivalent after beating the fourth castle.

Another helper (itsblah) did a quick play-through last night (like I asked... come now, it's not that difficult; Cheaters-R-Us), and found that the actual level used in the game is 0x0191. It seems 0x0067 is possibly an earlier version, but it remains unused in the game.

So this opens the possibility that it is not a bug in RLM. I'll leave it at that, until the corrupted sprite problem surfaces in another hack... But only where it's actually appearing in an accessible level.

So, just a few more things to check out, and version 1.4 will be gold.
Maybe somebody can make a "pirate" version of lunar magic that will open exhi and hirom. i also thought that there was still a easter egg hidden in lunar magic that everybodys been hiding because i saw fusoya's desktop and i found lunar magic open with it saying on the bar saying lg and b (because the rest was hidden)

I love all these conspiracy theories about how FuSoYa is holding out on us. They always give me a good laugh.

Edit: Oh yeah, that's a bump.
Yea, don't bump threads.
