Snes9x Debugger VIDEO tutorial

The Snes9x debugger is an incredibly useful tool, which, as I'm sad to say, is totally underused. I made a video describing how to use it properly.

Video Link

It may still be processing, but I can view it.

I hope this is helpful for anyone who can't figure out why their ASM project isn't working!

Doesnt everyone use zsnes?
I only did this cause you were mad on the irc D:

Yeah, so what if I haven't shoveled out my signature yet, I'll get to it later.

Well, the thing is, this isn't the regular version of Snes9x, it's a different version, made specially for debugging.

I tried to ask you on the IRC, but you were conveinantly idle, so I'll ask here.

I do not have the time or patience to watch the video, so I must make sure. Did you mention that the debugger strips the ROM of the header? Did you include a download link?

Wow. I never thought that snes9x debugger can be so useful, even for ASM projects. Good tutorial, this can be really useful for people who doesn't know, what's the problem with their ASM. Though I won't use that in the near future I guess, since I have no clue at ASM (yet).

-Yes, I mention that the header is stripped.
-I didn't provide a download link, but I directed people to the tools section.

All right. I've had all I can take with BSNES...after it froze so bad I had to restart my computer just to get rid of it (even Windows Task Manager was no match for the evil power of BSNES's lag), I finally snapped. I'm hoping to use the SNES9X debugger from here on out. But...am I supposed to have to save the level in Lunar Magic, reinsert the sprite (sometimes twice), and reload the debugger every time I change something in it? For some reason, when I just change and reinsert the sprite, then reload the ROM, the game crashes certain levels. It doesn't even need to be the one with the sprite. Am I just not supposed to change anything in a ROM when it is being used by SNES9X or its debugger?

Oh, also, when using the BSNES debugger, I always used STA $7FB000 rather than LDA $1337 (checking the "write" box, of course), but for some reason, that never seems to work with the SNES9X one. The breakpoint never triggers even when it should. Do you have any idea why that might be?

----------------

I'm working on a hack! Check it out here. Progress: 64/95 levels.

No, it inherently sucks at what it does. It's very bad at emulating the snes, compared to it's contemporary counterparts.

Also: A one year bump without any pertinent content.

I always hear this 'Z0MG ZSNES SUXZ0R AT EMULATING" but they never give any examples of inaccuracies or bugs they have encountered with it. I've never had trouble with it, personally, but that's just me.

I'd rather avoid derailing this thread and turning it into a flamewar about which emulator is the best, like what happened with a certain addmusic help thread recently, so let's not have this discussion drag on for hours.

Then you weren't paying attention.

Bumping is allowed in the tutorial section.

If you have relevant information to add or a question to ask. I don't think that was what was in mind when that rule was created.

Now I understand...

...but you forgot to ask me what drugs I was taking for Byuu. :P
