k basically what i mean is:

1) I was under the assumption that the mystery judge started judging later. This probably isn't the case

2) Being known would put the judge under a bit more pressure to work, and also would give people a better idea of how far along the judging is going.

Basically it would've been easier if the number of judges were kept low (it started at either two or one and i don't think FP mentioned there being any more) and the progress being made could be made public. That way people aren't left waiting because of something that happened like in the case of the kaizo level collaboration.

This happened right before I left the site for a while but basically the guy in charge, his hard drive wiped itself and he didnt have a backup. As a result the collaboration wa kept on hold until he explained what happened (which took a fairly long time)

how about FINISH ON TIME?

I'm kinda getting tired of this "zomg 124 levels" excuse. honestly, how much bigger of a workload is that? 20 levels? 30? There is really no reason that such a small difference should make such a big delay.

Besides, if there really was that huge of a workload, the staff should have set a more reasonable deadline, or, at worst, extended the deadline at time significantly earlier (e.g not before march 31).

Right now, we don't even have the certainty of ANY deadline! For all we know, the mystery judge could be doing absolutely nothing. At least give us a specific date to wait for- it's no supprise people are restless without one.

Sorry if I sound abrasive, but really, it needed to be said.
I think i should post levels i think would get high places:
Kristian's.
Riolu's.
reghrhre's.
opcode's.
Hadron's.
Lynnes'.
Zild's.
jesus'.
TLMB's.
(opcode is RedToonLink)
i just lurk sometimes
If the other judge isn't finished by tomorrow, we'll take what he has, average it in with the other three, and then post the results. There is no sense in making people wait any longer.

Also, it's kind of hard to give you guys this deadline you're seeking, since we have no control over how fast the other one judges. Hell, the only reason the mystery judges are "mysterious" in the first place is because in past contests, people have bitched about bias if their scores aren't high enough.

Yeah, it's humorous how bias only seems to exist if you don't get a high score.

A) People, stop complaining. It's not even that big of a deal to wait for this. Just settle down and let people do their stuff. It's an internet forum, waiting an extra week, or even a month, won't kill you.

Don't do this. The reason being that, suppose the "mystery judge" is much harsher or much easier on levels, then the levels that that person has judged will receive a much lower/higher score respectively compared to the ones which he didn't get around to judging. A better alternative I think would be to just throw his scores out if he doesn't get them finished by the time you want him to, rather than causing some unneeded criticism of your system.

I cant stress this enough. Putting in half of a Judge's score will totally skew the results!

I apologize for the quote pyramid, but I need to reply to all of this. I completely agree with all this. In fact, I stated my fears on this a page or two ago. This exact thing happened in the last vanilla LDC, one of the judges didn't finish, so instead of extending the deadline or not counting that judge's votes in the overall scores, the person's half-finished scores were used, skewing the results completely. The results could've been completely different had he finished or been cut from judging, so I do NOT want to see this again this year. It's either full judging or you don't count that judge's scoring at all. I refuse to accept a half-finished judging all because the person took too long. I just don't see the benefit in it at all.
<Adam> I feel like smwc is a prostitute now, because we put up a porn ad for money
if you REALLY want to use the mystery judge's scores, if he reviewed levels too, post those, but don't average his score into the level. It'll mess up the results.

Also don't listen to bias. you guys are getting very dramatic over video games.
I actually had no part in the last LDC, so I'm not aware of how it worked.

Nonetheless, I suppose this is what we'll do then:

-take the three finished scores (and if the fourth is finished by then), average them.
-post the results.
-if the fourth isn't finished, simply post the scores and textual comments for whatever he judged.

I don't know what it is about this particular contest and always having some kind of issue. Every single other one seems to be fine. If there are any complaints with the above though, please throw your tomatoes now.

/me throws my tomatoes.

No, I don't have a complaint. I just like to throw tomatoes.

This sounds good.
Sounds good to me. *bites tomato*

Blech, forgot I don't like tomatoes by themselves. *throws tomato*

I'm probably retired tbh
Sounds like a plan to me.

Also, I think you guys underestimate how long and detailed some of these levels are, and each level would require commentary and point-values. Then you can't play too many at once, because attrition of playing the same game for too long can make things more boring as well.

Anyways, the above sounds reasonable. Can't wait to see where I come out at...

my heart skipped a beat when reading that. 8>
(I'm pretty sure that has been the only positive comment my level received from this thread) I'll make sure to put you into my trophy acceptance speech

Now enough about me, I can't wait to see the list to find out which ones are worth my time playing (I only played a few and I didn't like them that much [sorry Dots & Counterfeit]).

I wonder what a HFD opcode would do in ASM...

To add to that:
Zild's level.
reghrhre's level.
Kyo's level.
Riolu's level.

A few levels I still want to play, but I assume will be good:
TLMB's level.
GN's level.
Hadron's level.

True, but I just wish I didn't screw over 1 pipe entry, and turned of layer 2 sprite interaction in 1 part of my level. :/
It's going to cost me alot points in functionality.
I hope I atleast end up in top 60.

Aww well, next time I should try finishing my level atleast a day before the deadline, not an hour. =P

Haha same, I also left out some flaws (because I didn't stand playtesting another time). Some graphics had a wrong layer priority, palette and behaviour. So you're not alone ;)
