Kc: Ah, very nice. I like how you're manipulating the overworld to do some neat things which have never been seen before.

I'm interested in seeing more of those mini-games ;)


Winter Ring
The northern hemisphere of Mushroom World sports a big "ring" shaped canyon in the middle of the sea. The only way to get there is by pipe. The seas are too rough for boats and the wind is too strong for planes. Winter Ring is home to Bumpty the penguin. Koopas and Goombas stay here as well, but only because they were forced to by Bowser. The castle belongs to Morton.

That's right. Morton. I'm reordering the Koopalings a way no one has ever really done before; Yoshi's Safari. This is the order:
Lemmy, Ludwig, Wendy, Larry, Morton, Iggy, Roy

Also, Winter Ring is a heavy edit of Vanilla Dome, but it was perfect for the world name. :/

Alright, it's been a while since I posted here, and I come bearing... ...not much. I decided to make a separate Luigi version for my hack, which includes various gameplay and GFX changes/differences from the "standard" Mario verison.



In the Mario version, the Mouser fight has four solid blocks for Mario to stand on. They are replaced with Donut Blocks with Luigi's outing.



As in Smash Bros., Luigi's fireballs will go straight ahead, which will make taking out a certain flying enemy less difficult. Luigi's game will also have some tweaked enemy behavior/HP thanks to uh.... Tweaker, along with hopefully having him jump higher, have inferior traction (the patch that's on the site has him jumping too high for my liking), and various level design changes.

And ignore the green Spiny egg and round stone blocks. I was changing GFXs for Luigi's version and completely forgot about the blocks and to re-tweak Spiny eggs to Palette C.

And now, time for semi-random screens!


Flame Citadel is a World 2 castle that carries an ever-so-obvious fire theme. It's at this point in the game the levels start getting a little longer to complete.



Lakeside Palace is the Yellow Switch Palace. The water isn't safe to the touch, so our buddies should obviously stay dry.



Bullet Bill Hill is the last level before World 1's castle. This place, as the name says, has plenty of Bullet Bills ready to tear Mario/Luigi to shreds. Oh, and Spinies and Munchers, too.



And finally, Aquatic Mine is a World 3 levels where there's not as much swimming as the name implies. Just a lot and lot of water in the setting.

As always, graphics will change if I feel nescessary.

Wow, you are doing an excellent job! I like the water's effects. And are you going to theme Aquatic Mine sort of like in Sonic Adventure 2?
I needed to make a new ow for part one of mta (you know, the one that is like the demo). So I started making it and this is how it looks so far:

Nope. It's a straightforward standard level with some swimming elements.



This New Super Mario Bros. BG is the result of testing the new palette viewer program I found. The colors were nearly impossible to pick in a nice order but with this great tool and my copy-paste method, I've reached a new level in GFX hacking. :D

The level is really short. It can be done in less than a minute.
At 0:34 there is a missing edge.
@Grishnax: It's a bit short for my taste; I mean, what is it, about 4 screens? Way too short, even for a first level.

You overused the cement blocks way too much. Use land or ExGFX. Also, I don't think the invisible coin blocks are a good idea. Invisible coin blocks tend to piss off the player.

Also, after the cement block part, you had a bland, flat piece of land.

Come on. After playing your hard level, I know you can do better.

My beta OW no sprites or 16x16 yet just showing off the basic landscape I will add trees and hills eventually once I figure out how to do events

My ugly On-Off Switch graphic, and my Switch Blocks. Except..

My plan is to have On-Off Switches in those colors. There would be no Switch Palaces, but instead, the On-Off Switches would switch the respective colors of ! Blocks. Thoughs? I honestly don't think it'd work, but eh. :P

Hmm. It doesn't look bad, maybe it is just a bit simple though. What do you mean by palette viewer program though?
