For that, a sprite works too.

My mistake, you had me confused for a moment, but still, thanks, MrCheeze.

Hey, just out of curiousity, but is it possible to make custom blocks of line guides, or other tileset specific objects unique to certain areas, so that they can be used anywhere else?

Ah, that's great. Thank you Bio .. not only did I learn something new, I also got the block I needed. I appreciate it.

Ok.... I'm going to request a sonic boss bio. You said not to but...

can you make me the flying battery act 1 boss from sonic and knuckles... the cage thing...

IF NOT

i'd like the ending thing from sonic levels thatact the same in sonic... the lil capsules

He just said don't post impossible request, and I'll be damed if you did just the opposite of what the rules said. Use your head, what are odds that either request can even be 5% possible?

Whats so hard about knowing the difference of asking something reasonable like a block that contains a color Yoshi, and asking something impossible like a block that contains the Master Hand boss ripped straight from SSB. Geez.
3 requests (no i dont think that they will all be done):
-----------------------------------------------------------
***i request a door block that resets mario's yoshi coin count when entered (not sure how complicated this actually is)

may i also request bullet bills traveling at 3x and 5x normal speed and use different sprite palletes (differently colored if they were in the same level)

lastly may i have (color) switch blocks that contain (color) yoshi inside
(ex: the green switch blocks had green yoshi instead of feathers, and yellow switch blocks had yellow yoshi instead of mushrooms)
------------------------------------------------------------
i think these are reasonable, sorry if they are not

Do you want this an an extra feature or permanently in the hack? I'm 90% sure that you can change what spawns from the colored switch blocks by doing some hex edits.

no, i just want it to be perminant, but i dont know asm, hex, or anything like that, and i fail HARD every time i try to learn it.

good to know though that there is a more simple way, now i just need to have someone help me do that :P
Actually, there isn't. It takes ASM to make the right color Yoshi come out. You could, however, request 4 blocks, each one of which contains a different color Yoshi and insert them over the switch palace post-pressage tiles (making sure to set all 4 of them to act like tile 130).

Also, I made your first request. Hurrah.

B.B. Link.... no requests are impossible... it just takes a lot of time.... so :P

anyway... then I request the weird mushroom screm thing from sonic and knuckles in mushroom hill zone...

Can I ask why you don't just use SonEd to make your own sonic game, since 90 percent of the things you want are from Sonic anyway? I'm not trying to be rude; I'm just honestly curious because I don't get it. If you want to make Mario in "Sonic Land," why not just edit Sonic's graphics to appear like Mario? Neither game's mechanics are very similar to one another, vs. basic platformer characteristics, so I just don't see the point in cramming 95% of Sonic into SMW, instead of just putting 5% of Mario into Sonic.

And, you're right, most requests aren't impossible, but don't expect someone else to spend 10-20 (or more) hours coding something hugely complex and that won't even probably work that well in actual use. Plus, who's to say all that work will be worth it? Who's to say the person who requested it won't just bail on this site, their hack, SMW hacking in general or die in real life? Why waste the time if it's not worth doing?

I mean, if something so complex is so vital to your hack, then why not take the time to learn it yourself? I'm not just talking to you, bored, but to everyone. Is it really that great making a hack if you just did the level design, but everyone else did the GFX ripping and boss creation for you? For something like that, the others deserve the credit more than the creator, in my opinion.

I really appreciate the fact that Bio made this new thread (obviously, since he quotes me in the first post). I think it should be telling to everyone that he hasn't added any extra requests so far.

We've already got 30 posts in a two-day-old thread. In a month, we'll be back where we started - a bunch of junky requests and very little accomplished. I mean, I can see the "cool" factor in many of the requests here, but I can't see the necessity.

The only request not touched so far that I would like to see come to be is Troopa Pride's Jumping Goomba, so I'll go ahead and put a second in for that, if it adds any incentive for someone to look into it.

Also, if someone who knows some ASM would be willing to help me, I would love to learn some fairly simple routines so that I can personally edit some custom sprites to tailor them to my liking. I'd be very willing to share most of my results. Just PM me if you think you can help.

Also, what would be the best place to request specific help with smaller sprite-editing projects like this? I assume this isn't the place, but I also don't know where would be.

If I moderated your hack, there was apparently a 90 percent chance it was rejected.

K,.. How about a BuzzBomber? That would be an interesting one.... If not, then maybe the crab enemy.

If you don't want to do those, then maybe... Whispy Woods?

Right now I'm pretty much just idealess...

may i suggest that the posts deemed "unreasonable" and the posted requests that ate complete be deleated? it would declutter this thread in the future and keep it down to a few pages. it would probably take a moderator(s) to do this, and would be very annoying, but it is just a suggestion. once a day, a mod could just check up on it, only have to look through a page or so, and declutter it.

get rid of all posts regarding a compleated or unreasonable suggestions, and mabe just post saying (request xxxxx deleated) or something like that.

i know this post could be considered part of the clutter, but i am just trying to help the thread out.
That's not a bad idea - I think one of the reasons to keep posts with requests that were completed, though, is so a detailed explanation of the block/sprite is available. Otherwise, I'm all for deleting the unreasonable requests.

thanks! did you submit it? i dont see it anywhere.
It's actually a sprite, waiting to be moderated. Just put it at the start of the level the door leads to.

*sigh*, time to take out the trash and add everything else to the list

LevelASM: A flashy effect. You are in a dark room and light flashes like the effect did in Donkey Kong Country (The oil level) When it flashes, you see for a little moment sprites, objects etc. and when it's dark, you can't see anything.

Are you referring to "blackout"? I'm pretty sure that sprites where still visible during darkness. I also think using custom sprite insted of levelASM for stuff like this is better since they can be more easly distributed than levelASM codes.

I'm not sure what you mean by "outlined", but I'm sure it would be very complex to do correctly. can you think of any other way to make it apparent that you can't interract with them?
I'm sorry... can I have another chance? Really, the replying to spam gives you another chance not to do it. So can I have another chance?

I want the lil hopping screw from sonic and knuckles mushroom hill zone.

http://www.theghz.com/sonic/s&k/s&k.html

look at the enemy called hidden... thats him
Just back here to browse a bit.
i'd like to request a sprite:
The Sprite from in sonic and knuckles that when you jump on it, the weight on the other side goes up then comes down and catapults mario into the air.
not too hard... Right?
You mean from mushroom hill zone? the first level
Just back here to browse a bit.
yes, that one.
I requested this on the old thread right before it was deleted, so I'll post it again: could I have a mushroom custom sprite that uses separate GFX and doesn't move?
I request a 16x32 sprite which just hurts mario if he touches it, and
can be killed if mario jumps on it.
