Since your 12, your ignorance is forgivable. Acting like you have a clue what you're talking about... not so much.

First off, the government has almost no influence over where goods are produced. Short of a complete ban on imports from China, theres not a damn thing that could be done about it.

Secondly, and most importantly, why the hell WOULD we stop using Chinese labor? Ethical issues aside, theres the fact that they're willing ot work significantly cheaper than any American would. IF in some bizarro world we stopped using Chinese labor, the price of goods would skyrocket... Hell, take the clothing industry for example... theres a good reason why clothes aren't made in America anymore...

Health conditions were horrible for workers, the government stepped in and required a very high standard for worker health saferty, as a result it became far too costly to make clothing in the USA. It became impossible to make a profit and now we just get our clothes from the Chinese who...

a) Do not have the regulation
b) Work cheaper

And honestly, I have a very hard time believing there are no jobs out there... More accurately, people aren't willing to get off there asses and do the jobs that do exist. Why should they when the government's solution to every problem seems to be "Throw money at it"?

Wanna fix this country? I've got two solutions that would go a long way...

1) Families only get assistance from the government for the first two kids. Anything after that and you're on your own. Welfare queens can starve for all I care, I work for my money and it doesn't need to be going to human trash who refuses to.

2) In any civil lawsuit, the loser pays all court fees. Lets see how many people file pointless lawsuits if this happens. There was once a pregnant woman who sued her doctor... why? Because of stretch marks... Who would imagine that pushing a living human being out of your body would cause some stretching...

Maybe if the government wasn't throwing my tax money at idiots and trash that don't deserve it, it could be used for something useful.

Doesn't this even really depend on the schools? They make their own calendars.

To the people saying "get work done all in one go", why not aim for a calendar that has half the year schooling, and half the year working?

What I really want to happen with the education system is for the student to choose how much they want to learn, and then just go to work when they're done, like in the old days. Shove the drop-out limit down to Grade 4. Sure, half the student population would take advantage of this, but that's their problem what they do with their lives. If they really WANTED an education, they would stay in school. Whether or not it's a good idea to HAVE an education is UP TO THEM.

This is a thing that's happening, now. Achievements in old video games.

I really disagree with this decision. It just goes to show how much people at congress actually think that they know what kids like... I really do hate people who think they know what people like but they really don't. I agree with whoever said that they should poll kids and kids vote on this. If it were up to the kids, they'd have no school at all. Some kids don't know what is best for them.

Am I glad I live in the Netherlands.

I usually use the summervacation to relax, calm down take a big break from school and to learn interesting and fun stuff like for example smw hacking.
Not having to worry about anything for about 12 weeks gives me a nice feeling.

Also, I socialize alot in the summer, which is something very important to me as I have troubles with being social. That, and I don't socialize alot in the winter.
If the government would change the system, I wouldn't like it at all.

In all fairness, I am not against a cut for summer vacation as long as it is bridged into the system as opposed to straight up.

whoa whoa whoa! Where does it say in the Constitution that the federal government has the power to control education? Education is up to state governments, according to the 10th amendment (powers not delegated to the federal government nor prohibited by the federal government are reserved for the States respectively). But honestly, I really doubt any (or at least many) liberals in Congress know the Constitution; they really don't seem to know what they can and can't do. I just can't wait until November.

But seriously, Congress doesn't have the power to do this. This also nullifies Obama's alleged plan to prolong school days...

Hey, where in the constitution does it say that the government has the power to force private citizens to purchase something under penalty of fines or jail time?

See... its not as much that Congress isn't aware of the constitution... more that they were out of toilet paper and didn't want to take the time to go buy more.

Dude, give them some credit, they get payed close to nothing to make so much for us. And I live in Australia, and over there, with the financial crisis it can't be fixed like 'that'. Btw I'm also 12.

Well the thing about making things in China (and other poor countries) is that it's cheap labor. A product made in the U.S. would cost more than the same product made in China.
