RULES

Requesting Rules

  • NO SIMPLE REQUESTS! Any request that can be made with Balrog's Layout Generator or with a base code will be ignored and subject to a ban.
  • Be patient! Everyone here has lives too. Your layout might not be made for up to a week, or more. If you have waited for up to a week, go ahead and ask again. There is so much content here that your request may have slipped through the cracks.
  • Please provide all image(s) you want in your layout. It just makes it a bit easier on whoever takes up your request in that they don't have to search for the image(s) themself. Also, please re-host all images on an image host such as Photobucket or Tinypic (Your file bin would work as well). This way, you won't be stealing bandwidth from the site you originally found the image(s) on.
  • If you want a specific font, please make sure it is allowed to be used. This thread has a list of fonts that are allowed to be used. If the font you want to use isn't listed, ask in the thread.
  • Layout coders are not image editors! If you request a layout with an image, please make sure that image is ready to go for a layout. Things like cut-outs, crops, and resizes shouldn't have to be done by the coder (unless they are nice enough to do it for you).

Coder Rules

  • All layouts must conform to the rules outlined in this thread.
  • You must disable your layout when posting working code.
  • DO NOT STEAL CODE FROM OTHER USERS' LAYOUTS. Not only is it extremely rude to whomever coded that particular layout, it's also extremly lazy. This is also subject to a ban.
  • Please be sure that your layout doesn't break the board and that it is compatible with all major browsers (IE, Firefox, Chrome, Safari, Opera, etc.).
  • Please make sure the font you use is allowed to be used. This thread has a list of fonts that are allowed to be used. If the font you want to use isn't listed, ask in the thread.
  • If you are putting a layout up for grabs, please don't whine if the person who claims it subsequently goes and modifies it to his\her liking.

Rules for requesting help

  • Please be as specific as possible when describing your question or problem.
  • Please post or link to your layout's code so others can help with fixing\modifying your layout.
  • Be patient! Everyone here has lives too. Your layout might not be fixed\modified for up to a week, or more. If you have waited for up to a week, go ahead and ask again. There is so much content here that your request may have slipped through the cracks.

I think that's about it. Mods, if there's any rules you would like to add, feel free.

And with that, happy requesting!
I'd like to also mention that you can use preview posts for layout tests if you're coding one. Just pointing tha out as some people have used their own header and footer to test layouts.
I planned to make this thread, but you did a better job at simplifying the rules. Ah well.

I ... wouldn't recommend doing that. It becomes tedious to code.

This is how I make my layouts. I use HTML to link the stylesheet on my desktop and edit the CSS and HTML while putting them next to each other. Along with the Firefox addon that refreshes the page ever 1 second, it's useful for when you're intending to use external stylesheets.

Or, you can use this website. It's in real time, meaning all HTML, CSS and whatever else you want that's typed at the top appears at the bottom.

Also, it'd be nice if we have a note about how users must be specific about their layouts requests. Even a quick sketch of what it looks like in Paint would do well.

Ah ... I think I might actually make layouts this time around. They're not hard, I'm just lazy.
Reminds me, a good rule is to supply the images you wish to be used, rather than saying "I want a Yoshi layout".

A note to others, instead of requesting a new layout, see if you can tweak the colors and images in your pre-existing layout to suit your needs, to alleviate the demands on layout coders.

I usually use preview posts so I can see how the layout reacts to the table. Unless there's something wrong with that, I will continue to do it that way for conveniency.

Excellent point. Added to the rules.
I'd like a layout with this picture if that's possible

If the image is a bit big, then sorry. I just like Apocalypse Tanks so much, and this picture simply fits.
Fellow gamers...

Also, that image will not repeat well. Either resize it so it won't have to repeat, add a solid to transperent gradient around the edge, or find a better image.

Assuming you want a simple box layout, you can use that in a base to make such a simple layout request.
Oh, look, Broozer here coded a layout for whoever takes it first...

...yeah. SMB3-themed, since I was kind of out of ideas back when I coded it. Although, I'm actually really satisfied with how it turned out... I would say it's one of my best pieces of work ever (when it comes to layouts, of course). The only downside of it I can see is that it shows up slightly incorrectly on Internet Explorer for whatever reason - therefore, I apologize if sharing it here anyways would be considered against the rules.

Uh, yeah... as I said, it's up for grabs, and whoever PMs me the first to get my permission takes it. Be fast, if taking it is what you want!
/Me grabs and pm's Broozer

#w{:>} Cool lay-out Broozer
Very nice

EDIT: Also I checked it on Internet Explorer, it's doesn't break any rules. But the lay-out looks like somebody crapped on it... Well how many people use IE? Not many. So yeah...

I cry when angels deserve to die <3

Okay, how can i get my layout to work properly? its all there just not looking right.
As you can see its all squashed D:
Can someone help me with this please. also i want the text box in the middle and no gaps in it. Thanks

Header:
<div style="background: url(http://bin.smwcentral.net/15047/sky.png)"><div style="background: url(http://bin.smwcentral.net/15059/bottom.png)
bottom left repeat-x;"><div style="background: url(http://bin.smwcentral.net/15048/topright.png) top right no-repeat;"><div style="background: url(http://bin.smwcentral.net/15046/bottomright.png) bottom right no-repeat; min-height: 120px; padding: 30px; padding-top: 50px; padding-right: 90px"><div style="background: url(http://alex.losego.com/images/blacktdbg.png); border: 1px solid; padding: 5px; margin-right: 40px">

Footer: </div></div></div></div></div>

Mainly, the problem was the lack of padding within the divs. Simply add a padding: xxpx(replacing the xx for the number of pixels) and that will add the spacing within the div. You can compare code if you want. I cleaned the code up of tags that weren't needed.
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you #w{<3}

Thanks again #w{=P}

oh and how can i make it always fill the box?
As in when i type a small message?
Stick "min-height: #px;" somewhere in the code. Using only height will lock it to that specific height on bitchy browsers.

Also your layout looks a lot like something I had planned to do a while ago. Except this was, like, a year ago and your concept looks a lot better than mine. :)

I want a new layout. Could someone make me a layout using this picture? Add any other little touches you want, I just like that picture. :P

Who knows when I'll have
something to put here.

Credits go to Counterfeit for the bitchin' post layout.

Do you want it like your current layout just swapping the background picture, or what?

Yeah, but I think the transparency could be darker, and maybe a more suitable font color for the new BG. And a sig box on the right would be neat, but not necessary.

I'd like a layout with 2 sideboxes on each side of the main post box,
and 4 userbar boxes beneath that. No colours or pictures, thanks.

Send me a PM with the content "4993" and subject "130" if the pic of Reimu Hakurei on the right turns you on.
[thanks to iRhyiku for the layout]
