2nd Annual Kaizo Level Design Contest - Completed

Link Thread Closed
P-switch hopping wasn't necessary to beat Paradox' level.
Of course you should fight fire with fire, you should fight everything with fire.

Oooh look at my userbar!

Well, I might have spoken it wrong. It is where you have an opportunity to jump on ONE frame when a P-Switch collaspes, you have to do it after the second jump with the chucks throwing the baseballs, you have three P-Switches and you must jump from one side to the other side of munchers while getting a jump on the P-Switch, which in essence, resets the timer. I find it impossible to do without it, and impossible to do with it. I could give you a screen shot if you really want me to.
I'd appreciate a screenshot, as you lost me completely. I didn't need any P-jumps in the level. I haven't beaten it yet, but I have beaten enough to ensure that P-jumps won't be necessary...

Even though the idea was sweet, and the first all vertical level hack, so good job on that, however, you seemed to compose everything out of cement block, and not using any custom palette drew down the awesome meter of this hack ten fold, I suggest using custom palettes that are unique in future levels. You seemed to love the P-Switch hop, which I naturally suck on, so completion of this level couldn't be done, at least. I couldn't... Overall, you overused some elements, but you used them effectively and somewhat nicely. I would give you a 78/100 on that.

Thanks for the review. Yeah, I agree I could definitely make it look a lot better. Appearance wasn't my primary objective when I made it. And as Sadistic Designer said, no p-switch jumps are required. In fact, p-switch jumps are a very bad idea to do in my hack since they reset the p-switch timer. Are you stuck on the part where you have 3 p-switches and have to survive without falling down onto the munchers?

You aren't supposed to use p-switch jumps to get to the other side of the munchers. You have to use the platforms to the right and left.
Finally back, I've made my rounds on the SMWC threads, updated the Kaizo Submissions thread, and now finally the entry post. By the deadline, I assumed it'd be clear that all entries are to be made during the month of April. According to SMWC (and the very post), goodandwickeddeity has posted his entry in May, and therefore is not eligible to enter the contest.

Paradox: I'd normally take off points for you making that update, as updates after the deadline must only be for game-breaking errors such as freezing and crashing, but you lucked out seeing as how the entries had not yet been compiled, and that you seem to have edited your original entry post...

Finally, there will not be an official contest compilation made by myself until the judging is complete, for there is a single entry that which was requested in PM to be private until the contest is over.

And that's that! Check your entry in the list to make sure it has the proper category and link, and let the judging commence!

Oh, whoops. Just read the entries post, noticed mine wasn't in a category. Its for the "Difficulty" category.

Is it too late for me to say that?

Hmkay, the thread has been reviewed and skimmed for the most part. 3 entries are being deducted points for not having the category in the entry post (the two that are unspecified and will be defaulted to "Creative", and MarioFan22).

I will be compiling the entries and sending the compilation to PangaeaPanga, as well as judging info.

NINJA: The rules explicitly state that it will be entered into "Creative" if category is not stated. Therefore, yes, it is too late. I had also combed the thread, and found no previous info on your entry category. β\

Even with slowdown, the jumps between the two areas are not possible because Mario goes faster than the platform.

You have to use the brown platforms that are going up and down along the left and right walls to help you.

To help, I thought we were waiting for those to dissapear. If you tell me to walljump, you don't know what I'll do.. MUNCHERS!
Sigh. Well, if it isn't eligible, it isn't eligible. I guess I'll either wait till next year or just submit it to the Kaizo Hack thread thing. Argh Timezones!

I'm not talking about the brown blocks, I'm talking about the line-guided platforms that are moving up and down along the walls.
I tried using that, but the lowest it would go isn't enough room to jump on without bonking my head on the turn blocks

So through p-switches at the turn-blocks.
Aww... damn that sucks. #w{=(}

Note to self: Must remember to specify category next time if there'll be a 3rd Kaizo contest.

woo, the calculation of this contest wll be easier than mine, since 10*11(judges*contestants at me)=110, while by this it is 66.

I might put some sort of signature here once. I guess.
