It appears as though the SSP data inserts over wherever LM inserts its ASM hack that replaces SMW's old level animation system. Correcting more than five or six checkboxes under Animation Settings actually destroys the ROM as much as changing every byte in the title screen opening routine to 67. Only the music will load. In other words, SSP are as incompatible with LM1.70+ as A- blood is with B+ blood. Fixing it will probably be harder than 513 sprite tiles.

EDIT: By that last bit I mean as in hacking SNES hardware.

Wait a minute...are we talking about the actual IPS patch (mikeyk's), or the xkas patch that I just made into an IPS?

I'm working on a hack! Check it out here.
Yours... Atleast thats what I was talking about. I tried the IPS you linked and got the animation glitches I posted a week ago.

Huh. Was the conflicting hack at $03FE00 by any chance?

(And...correcting more than five or six checkboxes? I assume you mean "checking", but there are only four there.)

This is indeed the conflict. I changed !MiscData in pipes.asm to some freespace just before where I inserted my pipe data and I have yet to experience any side effects while using SSP's on LM 1.71.
So if it's a freespace issue, there's no reason we can't just make a version that can have freespace set.

Is there an exanimation problem with syncing or something because I just tried out the new exanimation system and it worked fine til I saw a little desynchronizing in places and tile rows. Yes, I did it all right, I double checked it and it is fine, no problems on my end. More info:
- Used the 8 line 8x8 choice
- 8 frames
- each tile is used 4 times, so example 680 680 688 688 680 680 688 688 and that is used for all tiles, 690 690 698 698, etc, you get it.

Here's what I mean, watch around the Chomper's mouth and top of it's eye very closely and carefully and you'll notice some desynchronizing in the mouth and eye, plus at the end when Mario dies, the roof of the mouth.

BTSD has been updated, as well as many patches. Those patches that weren't updated were already compatible. And I post this here rather than a PM so that other people may know. Knowledge should not be kept secret.

Yeah, those worked with the old BTSD because it didn't care if it's labels were together like this
Code
MarioAbove: MarioSide: SpriteV: SpriteH:

so what you had to do was make them separate like this
Code
MarioAbove:
MarioSide:
SpriteV:
SpriteH:
I change my layout every 4-5 months
Yeah, I've been getting errors like that too. Do we need an LM1.72 to fix this? Or maybe BTSD 0.45?
The errors was there all the time, BTSD 0.42 amd earlier just never told the user. The blocks are what needs fixing, BTSD is working fine.
