Although I rather focus on my own hack, if anyone has any ASM patches or something that need doing feel free to ask me. SMW Bugfixes, gameplay tweaks, stuff like that. Though I imagine this hack won't differ too much from SMW's gameplay.

Hmmm... If I made a SMB3 OW inventory patch (as opposed to my current inventory patch that works in levels) would anyone be interested? I could make toad-house block/sprites and chests for it I guess.

I really don't know as much about this hack as I should.

It's kind of sad that nobody posted in this thread, so...I came.

I can't think of any patches I personally would like to see (maybe one or two that I made), but I'll mention it if I do come up with one. The SMB3 inventory thing sounds pretty cool, though. We'll have to see what S.N.N. and "them" think. I think this is a relatively ASM-hack-free hack, though; I got the feeling we wouldn't have all that many patches.

I beg to differ, actually. Under the old leadership, it was pretty tight on patches, but I'm willing to accept any patches which will enhance certain levels in the hack without causing too much trouble.

...I just can't think of what exactly we'd need right now.
How about HDMA stuff? Gradients, spotlights, background scroll stuff,etc.
We might need some parallax (for certain BGs) and wavy background stuff (for the final area, I reckon). Other than that though, I can't think of anything off the top of my head.
Sure thing, just give me the backgrounds that will have parallax scrolling and I will adjust them, then give you the code for it. :)
Will do. As soon as I have most of the levels completed and in my possession, I'll be able to pick and choose which ones could use it the most.

going to respond as a fan to this project, since I am not in it, I am not anything else.

I would personally enjoy seeing the SMB3 OW inventory in this hack, it would make it look less vanilla seeing as most of the levels don't use exgfx, but just custom music... kinda sad about that.

I believe a patch like the one you suggested would definatly be an improvement! I would love to see it in SMW.

My level, 5-Castle would benefit greatly from the parallax scrolling but not too much. Just some subtle movement. It's even set up so that it should work right.
Heh, I kind of forgot about posting this. I figured if no one replied in a few days no one was interested. I guess I will try and make a SMB3 inventory then.

That would be exceedingly useful KZ. Since it's very easy to get 999 coins and unlock the special world, the coins will be essentially useless (unless I missed something that Riolu told me). Having an inventory system would definitely help.

Let me know if you plan on going anywhere with that idea.

I like how that looks, Lynnes, but I personally think that an SMB3 inventory system would be better, less abusable. We wouldn't want the hardest parts of the game to be made too easy by allowing the player to stockpile on Fire Flowers and Capes and use them every time they got hit to basically allow them to be invincible to damage for quite a long time. :( SMB3's system was better about that, save for the P-Wing. You could use a Hammer Suit and/or a Star, but you could STILL have trouble with the level. The design of the levels helped, but still...

I actually already have that in levels, only it works via the item box and is changed with L or R, I just need to figure out how to change it to be used on the OW map and all the tricks I would need to do to get it to display right there. Actually making the menu and displaying the right GFX on the OW will be a challenge.

I agree, though in my hack, since powerups don't give extra hits (that is regulated by my hearts system) it's less abuse-able in my hack then it would be else where. But the star still needs to be restricted a lot more, and I may put time-outs and/or ammo counters on other powers to keep some balance.

For most hacks though, using items only from the OW is the best bet. Though how that should work with the item box I am not sure.

I know it's only slightly related but we need to make sure the prices are high in the shops otherwise people are going to be able to stock up like crazy. I suggest Mushrooms at 250 and go up from there accordingly.
Yikes, I don't know...250 coins for a Mushroom seems like far too many. I mean, in the original SMW, 100 coins would get you a 1-up. I don't know how many coins we are planning to include in our levels compared to the original, but I figure it would vary depending on the person making the level.

A lot of levels have a shitload of coins though. One in particular (E-Man's?) has a secret area with about 100 in it alone. Coins will accumulate very fast, I would think.
Yes, my level does indeed have a lot of coins, which could add up pretty quickly. The bonus level I could easily edit it in order to reduce the amount of coins that are within it. It would be a pretty easy fix, so it wouldn't take too long. The main level I would need to edit a bit, but not too much.

I was debating if my level had too many coins to begin with. So if need be I'd be willing to change it up.

My patch allows for up to 999 coins, so I don't think having a 100-coin Bonus Room is too bad, ESPECIALLY if you hide it. Plus, getting everything will require about 1899 coins in total, 900 for Secret Pass, 999 for Peach Pass. You need those to unlock all levels. So...yeah. Don't worry about high coin prices, guys- I allow for plenty of coins, and no 1-ups from Coins, unless someone wants to make an SM64-style system for that, where you get 1-ups for every 50 coins you collected in the level once you beat it. Maybe.

Sorry if this seems like a thread hijacking... but if I can help with any patches just ask... (although I don't have much knowledge of SMW's inner workings... and there are waaayy better people in this production in ASM...)
