Okay, I can add the patch for cluster sprites correctly, but I'm trying to add the Petey Piranha and Thunder Lakitu sprites that were uploaded to this site and removed a few days ago, and when I try to add the patch after those instructions, there are apparently some kind of major errors that cause XKas and Xkas GUI to ask whether I want to restore from backup.

Basically, I get told to add code from the petey_org.asm and lakitu_org.asm and to add them to the cluster sprite patch. Of course, I don't think the ninth spot in the patch ASM even exists, because I can't find it, but I add them and change the variables. But then it just comes up that error when I try to add the patch. The sprites themselves work with sprite tool, just the required cluster part fails.

I've also been trying the NSPC patches and dynamic sprite patches, but they seem to either work fine for one time then kill the game when add music is next used, crash the game before the title screen or for the latter, sometimes add the sprites but not the graphics.

Any advice with this stuff? For the NSPC one, should I just switch to Romi's or Carol's AddMusic from the one by Perl and use the command line option to patch the ROM automatically?

As for Mario's Nightmare Quest? Well, it's currently on Fusion Gameworks, ROM Hacking.net or the GCN at the moment.
They were removed for a reason..

Anyway, I'm still going to make a user friendly lakitu and petey, but untill I do, don't use them. I'm not sure if you got v1 or v1.1 but v1.1's lakitu has an issue with there being two pointers. I think that's the only problem in it. You can fix that by deleting the first pointer. Should look like this:
Quote
Ptr:
State_0
State_1
;etc

I suggest just waiting on petey.

Not sure on the other stuff. Did you remember to set free space?

--------------------

I had both, but I'm not sure which one I'm currently using. But thanks for the advice, I'll skip the Petey sprite and edit the Thunder Lakitu one now. They are good boss sprites though, so congrats!

Edit: Yeah, I did set free space.
