Well, new hack in the making
After I accindently deleted the smc of my first hack, Mario and the Unknown Threat, I started this one after just making overworlds for a while.
Screenshots:
I have most of the OW already finished, though it still needs some sprucing up, I guess.
Btw, I'll be away 'till May 9th, so no C3 stuff.. Sorry..
So! Whaddaya think?
ATTENTION! A NEW CHALLENGE RISES!
The demo of this hack is now out! It's still being moderated, but I got quite high hopes it's gonna be accepted. If you want to try it, the link is right here: (Being tested by testers)
Have fun!
hmm that name sounds very familiar... Bowser's Curse
i do like the mix of pallettes in the OW its very suiting and mixes well together.
and you have quite a talent for making OW we just need more pictures of "it", cant say much about the level looks like alreadey submitted ExGFX on smwc but im not too sure since i draw my own
but as i can see so far it looks nice REMOVED
The level seems to be great! It'll be the first one?
The OW is right, too.
Now I need to change my old avatar. Or not.
Thanks both!
That'll actually be the second level.
The first level will be vertical, probably, though I don't have experience in doing that yet.
I might post another submap later tonight, though I'm not sure.
Woah bit of a bump?
You can post again after 24 hours, right?
Blame the Icelandian Ashcloud, I guess?
Well, had some time yesterday, so I finished the Cloud World submap and spruced up the Forest World.
With the cloud world, I tried to use Zildjian's 'Semi-Vanilla' level design in my Cloud submap. I think it worked out well.
So, let's see what you think!
the pink blazed my eyes... but it is a very nice OW i really like the way you put it all together
just change the pink to darker or a different colour REMOVED
I do not like the pink palette in the second submap, it should be made darker.
The first submap is cool. Keep up the good work.
First of all, I changed the name of the hack into Correus's curse, after the main antagonist of the hack. More about that later.
Second of all, I made two new palettes for the cloud world, a darker and a lighter one. Please tell me what you think!
Last, I'm now working on level 1, the cliffside level. I might post some screens later, because I don't have much to show off yet.
So, tell me what you think!
To be perfectly honest, I like neither of them. But if I had to choose, then probably the darker one.
Actually, neither did I.
I was just trying out stuff, and I still am!
So, new 'cottoncandy-ish' palette:
Also, a screenshot of Cliffside Climb, the first level of this hack.
Ah, much better palette. As for the level...
1) There's an incorrect corner tile near the upper-right.
2) Near the Midway Point, there are 2 cutoff corners. Simply move the ledge one tile left or right.
This hack looks really good. Nice graphics, good overworlds, and, most importantly, fun level design. I can't wait for a demo.

Or maybe it won't. I know layer priority doesn't work in vertical levels, but I don't know about the "mushroom behind the wall" thing.
Anyway, that level looks really fun. For some reason, I love vertical grassland levels.
Yes, it does go behind the wall.
Though, I don't think that matters much.
I think most players will be smart enough to know they got a mushroom, right? Btw, the errors 2techno mentioned are now fixed.
A demo will probably come when I finish world 2, because world 1 is like
only 5 stages long. (Well, technically 6 but that level won't be accesible until you press a certain switch. World 2, which is also on the main OW, is ice world.
After world 2, the game gets unlinear, because you can then go 3 different paths. But that's a story for another time (reference?)
It isn't very wise to use the bottom tile of the midway point (The stick things that hold it up). Because it has cutoff animation. I do believe that there is a fix for it.
EDIT: I am a porcupine, but it says I am a hedgehog. :s
I fixed the animation, thanks for that btw.
Also, I have part of level 2, which I made level 3 first, to show
(The level that used to be 2, is now 3, and 3 is now 2)
It's the Stone Wood Path, with stone trees, based on those in Brisingr, the third part of the Inheritance Cycle by Paolini (It's a book, btw)
So, without further ado:
So, whaddaya think?
The land masses at the top are interesting to look at, but that thin strip of ground down there is just odd all around.
What should I replace it with, then?
Because I agree, it looks kinda weird.
Just replace the upside-down ground with dirt.
Yeah, but I wanted to keep the water, so I came up with another solution to make it look better.
So! How is this? Better? Worse? Do you have a better idea?
In any case, please post. I'd like some criticism before I release anything.
Sorry for the double post, I guess.
Well, it's not really my fault, is it?
Oh well...
I updated the first world's submap, and this time, with events revealed.
So! Whaddaya think, people of SMWC?
I would like some criticism, so if you read this, please just take your time to post. Anything'll go, really.
