Time to present it. The main OW for my hack!

Finished all maps except for the final submap. Only a few levels done so far, though, but when I finish a few more I'll start a thread about the hack (where you'll find out the title and plot as well).



Karatekid5, this OW looks awesome, the design and palettes looks great alltogether, but it have some little cutoffs in some parts (not a big deal, since they don't looks as cutoffs at all, i guess it should stay like it). Just change two things:
1- at the top right, in the desert part, there is a big problem (you should see it without problem).
2- Add variation to the clouds.

EDIT: there is also a cutoff in the grassland part, near the bunch of trees, there is blue pixels instead of green.

Wow, nice overworld you got going on there. As said by "TheGamer" the palletes work really nice with eachother. Great going! What really caught me though, was the Fake HDMA in the sky, really nice. Those green swirly things look a little odd to me, but that is just me.

*By the way, thanks for posting something I can actually see at school.

As a little side note, this thread needs more comments to the people that are showing stuff off. Remember, even a "great going so-and-so" will keep people enthusiastic enough to keep on working. So... let's try and keep things like that please.

Thank you! I did see the little cutoffs but there are a couple that would be kinda hard to fix, though I'll probably draw a couple more tiles to fix it.
Also, big problem? Is it either the pipe/portal being too high or the landmass being to far to the right?

Thank you! Also, I wanted to go for a sunset sort of feel and also wanted to see the sky on the OW for a little uniqueness. I'm glad the fake HDMA worked so well. The green swirly things are portals, which are the pipe replacements (when I make a thread for this hack, either at C3 or in hack discussion, the plot will explain why they're there.)

I'm also very happy that the palettes mixed well together, so thank you both of you! Also, I have 4 of the submaps posted earlier in the thread if you want to see those too.

You're welcome! I actually have the same problem as most people use photobucket which is blocked xD. So I decided to use the file bin.
Either that or the photo shows up as a broken image icon.

A boss dahnamics made which I'm testing, in an arena technically made by myself for the last level shown in this screenshots/videos topic:

Is it an interesting boss? Because dahnamics (dahnamics1 on Youtube) needs some more popularity for his great work, and probably wants feedback for this.

@Cheat-Master30 = That is a nice boss from Dahnamics. However, I believe that the boss moves a little too slow, and the flames maybe a bit fast. He should try equalizing the playing field between those two elements. The tileset seems very nice.

@TheRobju = Wow, nice sounding version of that song. I myself have a version of that ported for "The Crater" as the theme for Hunter and SCORPION. They both are alike in a way, but very different all the same. All in all, that is one of my favorite songs.

@1UpDudes = There doesn't seem to be much going on in that screenshot, try getting one where there is something to comment on... Also, the Foreground should be a different colour from the background so that it doesn't get confusing.

All of the clouds you see are on layer three, including the bottom ones, but I used HDMA to make them static unlike the ones behind the mountains which scroll at a slower rate than the spires. I am quite proud of how this turned out.

@cheat-master30: Like SCORPION said, the boss should be faster and the fireballs slower. Also, I think the blue fireballs should freeze Mario for a little bit longer: the way it is now, there's little penalty for getting hit by one.

@TheRobju: Very nice port you did there, nice instrument choices. Are you planning on releasing it?

@Lynnes: Nice palettes and overall aesthetic there. However, I noticed that the bushes go behind the slopes. Does that mean the BG scrolls at a constant rate since layers 1 and 2 are used for both BG and FG, or did you simply draw new tiles for that?

God, Lynnes, I don't understand how you make all your palettes look so realistic and incredibly easy to look at.
I love the mountain-peak feel to the level, as well.

TheRobju, that's a pretty neat sounding song. Fits a title screen well.

cheat-master30/danamics, almost anything that isn't an original boss is cool, but this looks very well put together. Nice.

This looks awesome! Though, how would you use HDMA to keep layer 3 in place? (I'm still trying to learn how to make layer 3 BGs). Anyway, I really like it! The palette/graphics combo really go nicely together, and the enemies seem to fit as well! What's the music you're going to use for this level? Is this level going to be in Fawful's Revenge?

@TheRobJu: Woah! awesome music choice! what song is it? It fits that kind of enviorment very well. I can't wait to see this hacks complete title screen to go with it! ^w^

@CheatMaster30: Looked like a simple SMB3 boss in the preview picture (judging by the graphics) but in the video, it looked great! Keep up the good work!
