First of all, let me clear something up; This hack is not vanilla, nor has it ever been. I have always just appreciated the graphics in the original Smw for some reason, and I use them like I would ExGFX from other games. So, whenever you do see screenshots from this hack, don't think it's vanilla, because it's not. It's chocolate.

Now, enough of that, I think it's screenshot time.

So, you may be asking yourself, what's this hack all about? Well it's not story, not really gameplay too much, but more than anything visuals. Yup, I'm aiming to make a hack as nice looking as possible, and I figured I could keep it as consistent as I wanted by using the Smw's graphics.

But it's not all about visuals...

A few more...

So yeah, this hack has a lot of things, and one thing it's not is vanilla. It has HDMA, layer 3, custom sprites, generators, patches, you name it. It's not without music either...

Pretty hefty thread, right? But seriously, tell me what you think, don't be shy. I want opinions.

I might put some sort of signature here once. I guess.
Thanks, and I forgot to add that there won't be a demo for a while, And I am still working on Fawful's Revenge.
So it's a chocolate hack that uses SMW-style graphics? Awesome. #w{=3}

Good fucking bye.
Awesome, very creative decorations and level design elements; and this "chocolate hack with SMW graphics" really makes sense, and it's great that you don't call this vanilla. You're great in creating new Mario-tastic levels (I mean, the mood and the atmosphere of the levels is very well developed, but still Mario styled levels IMO). I really can't wait to try this once, I see the huge amount of effort here. And not only visually great, it also looks pretty fun to play.

Edit: Whoops, hey 1700.
Wow, this looks really nice, especially with all of the decorations. I like the atmosphere of all of your levels. Also, is the giant thwomp Sonikku's?

Looks like it is.

I think this is pure, awesome. (You really need to join my contest once the rest have finished and I bump the thread up.)

Admittedly I never liked the smw graphics much, but I like similar styles to it. This however, is amazing. Even if it is custom, the way the smw graphics are used too is incredible.

Can't wait for a demo.
Nice work Lynnes. I have never heard of hack that is aimed solely on visuals, this will be a first. Anyways the palettes for the each level look great as it gives the levels a more realistic look as opposed to the very bright and straightforward palettes of the original SMW. Also, nice usage of darkening HDMA in the cave levels, it really gives a greater feeling that one actually is in a cave. Great job!

These two days I have seen some amazing hacks, and this one of these amazing hacks. I really LOVE the palettes and the combination of the grass set + the rocky background tiles.

You've really made some good progress here!
Your usage of existing graphics is masterful. I absolutely love what you've done! I especially like the Castle areas and the treetops. Everything just blends so nicely and naturally, and the palettes are fantastic too.

Also, heheh...the watery area looks great with the bones in the foreground. There's something like that in my own hack too, and I've always thought the effect it made for was really cool.

Keep up the great work! I look forward to trying this out. ^_^
It's awesome to see what you're able to come up with by adding to the original SMW graphics. While SMW's graphics normally can be simple and uninspiring, it's great to see you turn them into something amazing.

This would probably have to be my favorite screenshot. It's amazing how atmospheric you were able to make the area, and I love the background. Great work with this.
I've always looked at this hack with great admiration. You've used SMW graphics in a new way, the whole hack looks amazing. And what's more is that it uses SMW graphics, which are usually quite boring. You've definitely achieved ONE amazing style, a gloomy, beautiful ambiance that seems to be present in each of your levels. It's definitely one of the best eye-orgasm hacks I've ever seen, and I support it completely.
Great work, I can't wait to play this.

Your layout has been removed.

This has to be the most amazing palette I've seen in my life. I too, am fond of seeing people use the original graphics like this.

Every single screenshot you've shown here are, in my opinion, better than custom graphics, easily.
That pretty much sums up what I think.

Well, thanks a lot guys. I did not expect so much nice feedback, and who knows, I may have a demo sooner or later.
It looks...pretty. That's the first word that comes to mind. Of course, the design looks pretty good as well (although I hope you don't make it too nonlinear...). I think you combined the original SMW graphics with custom stuff like HDMA brightness gradients quite nicely.
I bet I'm gonna enjoy this hack.

Well, I loved Forever Factory, with the atmosphere it gave with the darkish palettes. It's good to see more of that, as well as good usage of the original GFX. I look forward to seeing a demo.
