R.I.P. Bowser Strikes Back (Soundtrack release)

Yeah...just as the title says. Some of you may have heard of my SMW hack, Bowser Strikes Back. Unfortunately...I'm afraid I have to cancel it. I pretty much have no other choice...lately my ROM has been experiencing many problems and incompatibilities and stuff, and my attempts to fix them have been pretty much futile. On the other hand, I could always port over, but I don't think it would be worth it. I just never really have the motivation to work on this hack anymore. This hack has honestly become more of a chore for me than anything. Terribly sorry to disappoint those who were looking forward to playing this.

However, I encourage you all not to think of this as a bad thing. As you may or may not know, I have ported and composed many songs specifically for this hack. So well...I am releasing them to the public. Here is the download to the ZIP file:

The Bowser Strikes Back Original Soundtrack

There are 21 tracks (plus a little bonus SPC track ;D) in this zip. It contains all of the SPCs, TXTs, and BNKs used. Copied from the readme:

Thank you for downloading. Each of these songs requires the use of Carol's MORE.bin and Sample Tool.
Refer to List.txt to see which songs are compatible with which sample banks.
Do not use Carol's MORE.bin with the -se command in AddMusic unless you want to have broken Overworld/MISC music.
Song names that have a ' in front of them indicate that they are an original composition. The rest are all ports/remixes of already existing songs.

Also, I figured I'd give you a little IPS showing one of the levels of my hack. It's unfinished though. -_-

One level IPS

Before playing that though, there are a few things you should be aware of:
- The intro sequence is not finished, but you can watch what's there if you want :P
- Both the title screen and the overworld music are screwed up, so don't freak out when you hear them.
- In the actual level itself, hitting the spikes crashes the game for some reason >_<

If you want I guess you can open up the hack in Lunar Magic and move Mario around on the OW to see more levels, but be prepared to see a lot of unfinished stuff.

Well...I suppose that after posting this, you guys assume that I have quit hacking SMW and moved on to hacking other games. Well...that's where you're wrong. I've actually planned out another SMW hack that I'll be working on after this. I may even use some of the songs I made for BSB and use it for that hack. But anyway, enjoy what I have shown, because this is pretty much all that's left of BSB.

Also, epic 1337th post. {B)

Happy 1337th post! I downloaded both files, because they seemed like I'd like them. I don't know the hack, but I am still going to play this one level.

I might put some sort of signature here once. I guess.
Sad to hear...Spikes crashing the game is kinda amusing though.
It's sad to hear that your hack has been cancelled Jimmy. The music that you composed for the hack was and still is incredible. Great job on the music and thank you for submitting them, I'm sure that the tracks will soon become widely used.

This is quite a let-down. I recall hearing various tracks of yours and seeing a couple of videos related to your hack and I was anticipating for its completion. It's like TToE all over again.

Oh well. Good luck with whatever future SMW hacking stuff you have planned.

also the bonus track is sex to my ears <3
it's always a bad thing to loose something, i feel sad when i read this hack's cancellation. and those musics are very good.

Aw, that's too bad, but I can understand why you wouldn't want to work on it anymore. Good to hear you've got something else planned. I'll be on the lookout for that. #w{=)}
The Bowser Strikes Back demo was one of my big favorites back then, so it's really sad to hear it's canceled forever. However, I really hope your future projects won't meet with this destiny.
Though, I'm really happy because you decided to release the full soundtrack of the hack. So many amazing tracks...I'm making a whole new Winamp playlist for the soundtrack at the moment! Thanks a lot, Jimmy.
Well thank you for your comments, guys. I appreciate them and I'm glad to know you liked the music. I plan for my next SMW hacking project to be much better than this one was. You might see it sometime soon. ;)
Wasn't expecting this to be cancelled, but shit happens, and we just get bored, so I can relate. Thanks for the soundtracks and IPS though, as some that we've already seen are excellent tracks, and it'd be a shame to have them go to waste. :)
Sorry to hear that, Jimmy. I played Bowser Strikes Back and enjoyed it. It's always a shame when you have to cancel a hack, expecially when you've made a lot of progress in it.Free counters!
It's sad to hear that you cancelled the hack, espacially some of the later levels looked just amazing.
But still it's really good to hear that you're gonna continue hacking SMW, since it would be a shame if you wouldn't finish a hack.
And awesome that you released the soundtrack, I can't wait to listen to it and use it in my hack. :D
Why do I like terrible music so much?!

Quite a disappoint to see it's cancelled, I was looking forward to a new demo. At least we got that... Rather frustrating... Level.
Good fucking bye.
So this is that 'big surprise'. Oh well. You had some cool ideas in this hack though, so I do hope you'll decide to use some of them in your new hack as well. I especially can't wait to push that flower pot around for five minutes with literally no action at all.

but seriously, it's always a shame when a hack of this quality gets cancelled. As I've always said, I think you're one of the best composers on this site, so I do hope people put your music to good use.

Eh, yeah I could have done a bit better job on that level. Maybe it was a bit too difficult now that I think about it. Oh well.

Oh don't just might get to in the next hack I'll be working on. ;)
I can't say that I wasn't expecting this to happen sooner or later, as I know you've been having loads of trouble with this. (Even though you promised you'd finish this hack even if it took you three years.)

Well, I'm sure it feels great to get this 'chore' off your back. I'm looking forward to seeing what you're up to next in the world of SMW hacking.

Well I decided to submit my soundtrack to the custom music so that way you guys don't have to go back and check this thread every time.
