Who would you like to see LP this first?

I probably want to see TheRealNinjaBoy LP it. He's my favorite LPer, IMHO.

Hey, here's a neat idea for an LP of this hack.

Since it was a massive Collab hack from SMWCentral, why don't we get a collab LP of it? One LP'er per level, unless we don't have enough? If the quality of the LP is low, we could just say that it isn't high enough quality for the LP standard we'd want, and ask someone else to do it.

Any thoughts?

Yes.
I'd play too but I am too lazy to search for my mic :P

I might put some sort of signature here once. I guess.
Heres my list:

1) Goron50 (For his...um... well lets just say I want to see him do it) (Youtube XL Channel)
2) MoltovMarioWorld (For his randomness, and also I may want to see him do it savestateless) (Youtube XL Channel)
3) Kristian (He's a SMWC user) (Youtube XL Channel)
4) Kieran (Because I guess I like naming him:P) (If he has a youtube channel, I'd be ok with that too)
5) S.N.N. (because he's SoNotNormal8>) (I dont mind youtube thing for his either)

P.s. If I come up with any others, I'll change this if I'm able to.
P.s.s. Youtube XL is just youtube formatted for big screens. I.e. Viewing youtube on a videogame system. If possible, and there is problems with Youtube XL on IE, turn Compatability mode on for the Youtube XL page, and it should work fine.

If there's any interest in a collab LP, I wouldn't mind helping out with it, both LPing and organizing if necessary. That being said, it seems to make sense to me that we would wait before the hack is finished before calling levels and the like, and that we would need to advertise a little bit. Still, as I said, I'd be willing to get it up and running.

Jumping back to the discussion on whether or not we should actively pursue getting people to LP the game, think of it this way: When a popular LPer LPs something, it draws attention to the game by showing it to their subscriber base who may or may not know about the game that is being played. raocow has 10000 subscribers and I know not all of them are on SMWCentral. Now if those 10000 see the hack, that means that 10000 people are aware of its existence. Out of those 10000, a fair number will follow the LP through to the end, and another fair number of those people will download the hack to try it themselves. And when a person finds something they enjoy, more often than not they show it to other people they know. So let's say 2500 people download it and show it to one friend of theirs. Half of those friends decide to give it a try, increasing the downloads to 3750. That's nearly 4000 downloads from one popular person playing and showing the game.

The more a game is shown off, whether in pre-release or post-release, the more people will see it and potentially play it for themselves. This is how gaming hype works.

If we really want to start getting the game known, why don't we make a trailer or two for the game and put them up on SMWCentralNet? Spread them around, let people know that the game is coming soon. Promotion basically. If we want to make the game known, we can't just release it and hope popularity picks up, we have to TELL people that it's coming and that it's something to look forward to. And once the game is finally released, think of LPs as free advertising for the game. Not everyone will play it, but out of the thousands of people that watch Let's Plays, I'm sure a good chunk of them will give it a try.
FirePhoenix, I don't want to be mean or anything, but just answer the question if you want, as we already know that s*** stuff. I would say its more of, say, an opinion question. Besides, some people will beg the person/people they choose/chose to death about it.

Now that, on the other hand, is a good idea. I could probably make one, and maybe edit it, but I'm not going to deal with Windows Movie Maker, so if anything, I myself would just make it. But thats just me.

P.s. LikeLakers2 used Water Gun on FirePhoenix!

I for one cannot wait for the 30 or so lps that will start on release date (with more to follow), featuring awful voices, horrible playing and save scrumming.

OH BOY!

re: collab LP - SA LP subforum had MANY projects started in that way, and they all fell through. Just sayin', it takes a LOT more organisational skills then y'all probably expect.
Does it? Thanks for the advice Raocow, I'll have to think of a good way to organize it. I'd like to know if there's enough interest to do it in the first place, though, that being said. I don't know how many people I would need, but I imagine if there are 96 exits,+ the final castle, which sounds long enough and has enough sub-sections to probably bring it to 105 'areas', then if we had twenty people involved, it would only be about five for everyone.

Does twenty people sound unreasonable? Naturally if there is more, then that's great, but I think that would be a good landmark.

Also, while the individual videos would go on the channel of the creator of that video, I think the SMWCentral channel would need to host a playlist with all the videos in it, to keep it organized.

Anyways, like I said, I'm a pretty organized person, and would love to get something like this going, if there are no objections and I could get the people...

If anyone reads this and thinks they're interested, please PM me about it.
Youtube
Starting off with "is anyone interested? PM me" is already a bad idea, since:

a) the hack isn't even done yet, so people could sign up now and never return.
b) there should be LP signups for each level in a separate thread.
c) as previously stated, it takes a shitload of organization. expecting to just have people go ahead, record a level, and upload it is a lot easier than it sounds.

believe it or not, not every lp'er in the world sucks as much as this implies. the ones that do get no more than like, 20 views anyway.
Hmm, yeah, PMs probably aren't the best concept. If there is anyone more experienced than me that wants to run it, then I'd rather them do it, to be honest. I don't really know what I'm doing.

a) Yeah, this is true.
b) Also true, although I don't know if I have the authority to do that. I'm also not sure about the idea of signing up to do specific levels, I think it might be more enjoyable if whoever LPs it just LPs whatever they happen to land on, per se. Then again, I don't know what I'm doing, so..
c) True, but isn't it the same for making a collab hack in the first place?

I dunno, I like the idea, and would like to pursue it, but don't really have any experience. If you have any advice, can you let me know (preferably through PM, because I kind of feel like I de-railed this thread a little)
Youtube
Again, it really comes down to waiting until this is finished. I think people need to exert their energy on worrying about the current hack rather than thinking of things like who will LP the completed product, sequels, etc. Once everything is totally done, then stuff like LPs and sequels can be discussed.

Anything can still happen. What if the base ROM suddenly blows up and decides to continue blowing up, thus forcing the project to be dropped? It's a real stretch obviously, but like I said, you never know.
Actually one thing that would be good is if 3 or 4 members who took a role in this had a lot of free time, they could do a race of this. Split screen racing action etc, etc...

I'd like to do that, but I can't LP with 2/3 strangers grunting in frustation and awing in amazement at the masterpiece of this hack will be.

I would do a TAS of this as well.

As for LPs, I can't think of anybody off the top of my head that I'd like to LP this. I would say raocow, but he's done a lot of Super Mario World lately (ASMT/Vanilla contest), and would like to see more games like VVVVVV.
Raocow or TLs4. I'd prefer TLs4, though, since I've been losing interest in Raocow lately for some reason.
Good fucking bye.

Because of the recent breaks maybe?

I would still recommend TLs4 and raocow, just because he has so many subs and everybody who sees him playing it will want to play it too. (Don't take this as "Because of his fanbase, he sucks otherwise", he's awesome of course)

Also, please don't let this thread go off topic just because somebody looses interest.
