Hm, I recently started watching this one brand new anime called "Campione!" It's based on a Light Novel series of the same name apparently, and it's basically about gods from various ancient pantheons (Greek, Roman, Persian, etc) descending to Earth and causing trouble, sometimes even fighting each other while some humans with magic try to keep the peace. The title, Campione, is also a term in the show/novel for any mortal who has somehow managed to slay a god. Campiones are special because whoever has killed a god inherits that god's power, making that person far stronger than any mortal would normally ever be able to become. Understandably, the existence of Campiones are very rare, and there are only like 7 or 8 in the world, which various people an organizations are trying to get on their side. (from what I can tell, anyway - it hasn't been fully clear on some things yet)
I'm still on the fence about this show though. There are some really cool things about it, but also some things I dislike about it, so I am not entirely sure what to think of it.
Out of curiosity, has anyone else seen this show yet?

Hmm, Campione!, it kinda reminds me of To Aru Index but replace science and magic with ancient gods and magic. Well, i'm liking the action scenes and the powers in the show. But the show somehow tends to get rushed as far as I've seen. I find some stuff get pulled out of nowhere and isn't explained much.
I started watching it.
Thanks for reminding me, since I almost forgot about it.
That happans a lot when you wath like 7 ongoing animes ^^

I don't quite think so. Why? Because To Aru Majutsu no Index is my favourite anime and nothing can even compare to it.
(And I've watched over 140 animes so far, so that really does mean something) It even made me read the novels even though english is not my first language.
Back to Champion:
from what I've seen so far, it looked quite nice. Not the best thing I've ever seen, but interesting enough to make me keep watching (even though I forgot about it).Anime statistic on MyAnimeList:

I'm watching a ton of anime right now. Well I haven't watched anything in the past 6 days and I probably won't be able to for another week as well, because I'm stuck on vacation with a shitty laptop that can hardly play youtube videos, let alone downloaded anime.
I think Hyouka is the best thing this season, but Kokoro Connect is pretty great as well. Sword Art Online and Koi to Senkyo to Chocolate are good and show potential.
Jinrui wa Suitai Shimashita is the only show I'll probably drop, although I'm not really enjoying Campione or Dakara Boku wa, H ga Dekinai that much either.
I think this season of Yuru Yuri is better than the first, but not by much.
Last thing I finished was Gunbuster, which was really good. It's only 6 episodes, so it's about 3 hours long because the episodes are from 24 to 29 minutes long. If you have watched Neon Genesis Evangelion or Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann then you will most likely notice some similarities. Hideaki Anno directed Gunbuster and Evangelion, all three are by Gainax, and feature naked women in space. Well I don't think Gurren Lagann had a naked woman in space, but she was giant. Evangelion had all three, featuring a giant naked girl in space.
You should enjoy your vecation. I couldn't go since I've to work.
Also,
Hyouka is great, it reminds me of Sherlock Holmes in some way.
Kokoro Connect is nice too.
Same goes for Koi to Senkyo to Chocolate, although I'm not sure what the "real" plot of this anime is going to be.
Oh and yes, Code Geass is great.Anime statistic on MyAnimeList:

Hyouka is pretty good but I could no way class it as the "best this season" in my opinion. I mean, Uchuu Kyoudai... Come on, best show ever.
But yeah, I personally am not liking Campione! too much, it seems a little too "slapped together" (if that's even a phrase that anyone but me has ever used?) for my liking. Maybe I'm just losing interest in over the top silly harem plots.
I really should update my MAL so I know what episodes I'm on.REMOVED

To Aru is completely epic. It's probably tied with Madoka as my all-time favorite anime.

And the novels are even better ;P
It's sad that only half of the novles got animated so far.
And movie is going to be an original story (so no relation to the novels D
Madoka was unexpected awesome ^^
It's probably in my 10 ten (I say probably for I don't have an official one)
However, it can't quite compare with Code Geass or ClannadAnime statistic on MyAnimeList:

Yup, Index/Railgun series is really awesome. Man, I can't wait for the movie. I miss the series! I've always been looking for a show that has a similar feel to it. I'm a sucker to superpower/action shows. That and Shakugan No Shana so far are my all time faves in that category. They're animated by the same studio as well.
Madoka, yeah, it's pretty great too. gotta love the mix of magical girl + psychological genre. There were lots of moments that were thrilling and I love it when shows are like that.
Clannad is like one of the best shows in the drama side of genre. One of the few shows that got me all teary.
I guess i'm now curious what kind of shows or what genre of a show you guys usually get into.
Sailor Moon will ALWAYS stick with me as one of the best anime. Some (or many :/) may not agree with me, but so many people in Japan would LOVE to prove you wrong. The English dub? Oh yeah, that. It's weaker than the original Japanese anime, but it's not completely BAD. In fact, it's still pretty awesome! But after hearing that the English dub had quite a few things cut-out/edited from the original, I had to check it out. This fact is true. And sometimes, it was for the most retarded reasons (Japanese text? LE GASP. Remove!). Apparently broken glass bottles are too violent, so just add in a monster flying at the heroine instead. Man, this is why the original shall ALWAYS be the best. Too bad it ended around 2001...wait, you're saying it's coming back in summer of 2013?! Eeeeee! Just my personal opinion on the whole thing.

Let's see,
I like many genres so I'll just say all of them.
Horror:
1. Higurashi no naku koru ni
2. Another
3. Tasogare Otome x Amnesia
Those animes gave me chills down my spine. Especially Another! Up to ep 3, I didn't take it all to serious as a horror anime but than, sh*t got real... really scary.
Tasogare Otome x Amnesia isn't much of a horror anime, but I don't know anything else worthy of 3rd place.
Romance:
1. Clannad
2. Yosuga no Sora
3. H20 Footprints in the Sand
I think a lot of people would have Shuffle somewhere in their top 3, but I don't quite think so (it's probably 4th for me)
Clannad: If you don't get at least teary, you have no soul.
Yosuga no Sora: Best anime with a game as it's base. In games, you usually get on the story of one girl but in most of the animated versions, they just combine all the storys from all the girls. Not so in Yosuga no Sora (it's +18 by the way)
H20 Footprints in the Sand: Beautiful and sad
Action:
1. To Aru Majutsu no Index
2. Code Geass
3. Kore wa Zombie desu Ka?
They are pretty much self-explanatory.
And that's about it. I know there are planty more genres, but right now I can't think of any
If you know some more genres, feel free to reply and I'll add them to the list.Anime statistic on MyAnimeList:

Dusk Maiden isn't a Horror...
Also I wouldn't class Another as a horror for me personally (and some of my friends I was watching it at the same time "with"). It was just a trip-fest comedy of stupid shit.
A haunted desk? Come on...
But yeah, Clannad is a masterpiece. It isn't my favourite anime, but I classify it as the best I have ever seen (my opinion may be biased, but I haven't seen a single show that pulled off such an amazing job before [RIP Good KyoAni])
I wouldn't really know what my favourite action is... I guess Mirai Nikki? Or maybe Gantz (more the manga point of view) ? Index was ok and so was Code Geass. Maybe I should try the LN's of Index and then form a better opinion on it. (does Madoka count as action? That could be it if it wasn't for the slapstick ending shit)REMOVED
I already wrote in my post that Dusk Maiden isn't really horror.

Ah sorry, I misread.
I'd classify it as a comedy thriller to be honest. I mean with stuff like (incoming spoilers)
in episode 2 when whatever his name is, is following sexy eye patch girl on the way home and he reach a hill where she disappeared round a corner. Coming up to the corner the music was getting louder and louder and more obnoxious as he got closer (to build suspense of course), only to find that it was nothing at all, just another road
. And the main plot being pretty much the same as the
Final Destination Films
. I really couldn't find it creepy/ scary/ weird/ ect. It doesn't help that it got a stupid amount of hype before it aired which lead to me questioning and criticising most of the silly details in the show.
Adding on from what I said yesterday: The death scene's are just hillarious, I mean,
A girl face plants the floor in an elevator while she is just casually on the phone with a low angled camera
(I also like how that scene just came out of absolutely nowhere). Also the ending was all
"Well we just killed your mum's [friend/ sister/ whatever she was] (it's been a while since it aired, ok?) let's go to the carnival!"
. I'm not sure if the studio was trolling when they made this or if it is actually -in- the manga, but non-the-less it's pretty silly and completely out of nowhere again.
I seem to have reviewed small segments of the show instead of answering your question in that last part, but I hope I cleared up why I (personally) can't see this show as a horror.REMOVED
Well, it's a personal ranking after all.
Also: (spoiler + violant contant video)
(Highlith at own risk)

That's not really how I see that scene.
Do you mind watching it once more? Elevator Death
I don't mind if you don't see Another as a horror anime, but for me it sure was scary.
Also, I didn't watch Final Destination. Niether did I get any hype(?) before starting the seriesAnime statistic on MyAnimeList:

Indeed it is, so I do apologise if I have offended you with my opinion clashing, I just wanted to create a bit of discussion here and there.
I understand why people would find it kind of horrific but I personally just can only laugh at that part, since the entire death took me by complete surprise (and the way it was executed was just so silly for me).
I got quite a lot of hype from a few people I talk to on Skype and some other forum communities I am part of (with different user names because my usual was taken for some reason .___.).
Although I didn't finish it: you also mentioned Higurashi no naku. And I will say I enjoyed the first "story" of that thoroughly, I really enjoyed the sense of survival and how cornered it made you feel whilst watching the main character in his current situation. After that it kind of confused me since they did that one story so well I had no idea why they changed it up and accidently spoiled the entire plot to myself, although I managed to finish season one I got a little lost and bored mid-way through season two and put it on hold for eternity. Is it a show worth picking up again to watch the end?REMOVED
The episodes of Higurashi no Naku Koru ni are the so called question chapters.
Higurashi no Naku Koru ni Kai are the answer chapters.
In Kai (second season) you find out bit by bit what was going on in the first season. And unless someone spoilered it for you, I'm sure you'll be surprised by the one or other thing.
The first season ended in a more or less Happy End. But it didn't epxplain what was going on, did it?
Why did they start anew every time? Why were those murders carried out?
Those answers can be found in the second season.
Well, now I'm creating to much of a hype myself.
It might not be the best thing in the world, but it should be worth to watch.
On a different note:

Well, if I may plug something here...
People, watch Shakugan no Shana!
Seriously, it is the absolute most engaging anime I have ever watched. (I have watched every episode that exists thus far.) Something about it really struck a chord with me that no other show has ever done. The show involves a highschool freshman boy being dragged into a sort of interdimensional conflict - on one side are the "Tomogara", who come from an alternate world called "Guze" and essentially devour one's life forces and all memory of their existence, to fuel their magical powers. (it's more complicated than that but this way is easier to explain) On the other side are the Flame Hazes, who are ordinary humans that have gained power to fight the Tomogara by contracting themselves to various gods of sorts from Guze that work to maintain the balance between the worlds.
The plot is really complex and deep, and my synopsis I typed up in ~3 minutes' time simply does not do it justice. Watch this show! You will not be disappointed. It takes awhile for things to get setup over the first couple episodes, but once it gets going it's an utterly amazing experience.
Thanks for giving me the most awesome anime ever.
I am a bot.
So I just finished watching "Demashita! Powerpuff Girls Z", the anime adaptation of powerpuff girls. It's an alternate universe take on ppg: The girls are now normal teenagers (who aren't siblings) that can transform into magical girls(yeah... they went that route), and the series generally breaks everything about the original canon(Professor Utonium has a son for crying out loud).
But all in all, the anime isn't that bad.
If you look at it as a separate entity, it has some very good new characters, and a fairly nice story and tempo, sans a few episodes. It also has some very well placed references to the original series.
Oh and if your favorite character was Mojo Jojo and you absolutely loved him, avoid this anime like the plague; they completely ruined him :V
