(Brackets Up!) SSBB Tourney

BRACKETS CAN BE FOUND HERE!

Well I just got permission from S.N.N. to make a Super Smash Brothers Brawl tourney for all you lucky people here on the site! As this is the first of what I hope might be many tourneys I do I'm not really expecting the biggest entry list in the world so I'm only opening spaces for the first 32 people to sign up.

IMPORTANT: IF YOU WANT TO SIGN UP FOR THIS TOURNEY THEN PLEASE PM ME. ANY REQUESTS FOR SIGNUPS IN THIS THREAD WILL BE IGNORED!

So before you sign up, it might be best if you familiarise yourself with the rules and requirements.

Requirements:
- An SD Card for your Wii that you can open on your computer (this will become apparent further down).
- All stages/assist trophies/rule settings unlocked (so you have everything at your disposal).

Rules:
- The brawls will be 2 minute games with 3 stock.
- Each match is a one on one match. No CPU's or guests.
- No game cheats to be used under any circumstances.
- If both players are playing as the same character they must pre-arrange different costumes/colours for the character and specify who's in which costume/colour.
- All items are to be active on the 'low' setting.
- Any character accessible to the player is legible for entry.
- Any stages can be selected.
- Matches cannot be retaken except for under VERY special circumstances and approved by me.
- One player must record the replay on his/her SD card and send it to me and the other player involved so I can moderate it and conclude that all the rules have been followed and that the brawl replay sent isn't a fake.
- If any of these rules are broken, it will result in an immediate disqualification for the offending player.

As I said before, PM me if you want to enter. The first 32 to get their entries in get the places, NO EXCEPTIONS! There will be an additional waiting list as players may drop out BEFORE (and only before) the tourney officially starts. NOTE: YOU MUST SUBMIT YOUR CHARACTER AND FRIEND CODE IN YOUR PM!

EDIT: Alternate item sets can be discussed with your opponent if you want.
Do I absolutely need an SD card in order to join? I'd really love to join this and I don't think it would be fair to exclude someone just for not having an SD card for replays.
I agree with Tormentor2, as many people may not have SD cards to save the replays on. I also disagree with the fact that it's timed, because the match might end up being a tie, which would then turn into a sudden death match, which would take longer and make the replay unsaveable anyway (plus, sudden death can be unfair at times with the random falling bombs).

I do however like the idea of another Brawl tourney, so I'll go ahead and sign up. I won't complain about the rules too much either, as it is your tourney, I simply wanted to state my opinion.
I think you have a fair point.

When Roy ran the Time Trialing competition earlier this year, the competitors wrote down their scores and met (either here or on IRC) to compare notes; the scores would then be submitted.

Instead of requiring an SD card, why don't you just let people record their scores manually and submit them to you through a PM? You wouldn't have to worry about cheating because the only people who would be in the competition would want a fair game.

Also, having all the characters and stages is definitely a benefit, but does every competitor really have to have all the Assist Trophies? Those take time to unlock, and they don't really provide much in the way of help.
We can't switch characters? That's kind of lame IMO.
also why so much formality on making sure who won, I'm sure people's word on who won or who lost is good enough.. -_______-

I'm sure competitive brawlers (lol brawling competitively) will dislike having items and casual brawlers will dislike all the restrictions in this tournament.

It's only fair that you can't switch players. You can't do it in a regular brawl tourney. Also the reason I've employed this rule about the replays is that when a friend of mine made a brawl tourney, there was a lot of dispute over winners. If you request it of me I will give out my wii code...

Also don't forget if you want to sign up YOU MUST PM ME WITH YOUR CHOSEN CHARACTER AND FRIEND CODE. I'LL IGNORE ANY REQUESTS HERE!

Why couldn't we just provide you with a screen shot of the results screen instead of a replay as the replay doesn't always work for anything or does not give the option? Or the subit scores in a pm idea is a good one we are all honest here about that.
Edit: couldn't we send you the replay data on your wii console if you have one for easier convience for all to?

That is not a bad idea; infact, it is a good one, atleast in my opinion it is.
that could work, but it might become more of a hassle, still i say it should be done for those without sd cards
I said it before. If there are any special circumstances I will make exceptions... Anyway. No rest for the weary. As soon as all 32 signups are in the sooner we start...

What If 2 people want to sign up but they only have 1 wii between them? e.g. brother/sister
I think the odds of that happening are very slim but I guess if it did happen, they'd have there brawls at different times. If they ended up fighting each other I guess they'd do it off of Wi-Fi between them...

Updated the list...

But don´t we need the Wii codes too?

Currently doing: Level 2

Only if I've allowed you to send me your replays via them. Otherwise I need them saved on an SD Card and the file sent to me...

WLC Entry:

Play?
This is where you would read the first line of text of my signature, but it is currently pointless.

Projects:
- Serious thing kinda happening.
- on hold for some time :|
I reccomend you ban these items from this;
Smash ball
Assist trophy
pokeball
hammer
golden hammer

These items are way too powerful and ruin the game. Don't say that things like the smash ball are uncommon, I just played a game with low item setting and got 2 final smashes! That is very unfair and takes out the fun and skill of the game.

Brad172: There are no prizes. I was going to make a badge but they are commonly disallowed for unofficial contests.

Tornado: I will not be banning these items from the list. A good player will be able to stop his opponent getting these and use them to his advantage...

EDIT: Updated the list. So don't forget to tell your friends who may be interested!

Although I'd dearly love to implement those rules I can't. It's a matter of what spamming attacks are and that could raise a lot of arguments...

The list isn't filling nearly as fast as I thought so I recommend you get on to some friends about this :)

A good player shouldn't need it to win. I'm not so concerned about hammers, pokeballs and trophies really, I only care about the unfairness of most final smashes (Sonic's comes to mind instantly) but whatever, I just wanted to make a point, I'm not trying to make an arguement or anything, it was just a suggestion.
