Hi all,

I don't know if many remember or know, but this is my SMW hack that I released back in 2007. However, it had some glitches and a couple of ExGFX that I didn't like. I have fixed the glitches, and changed some ExGFX. This hack has 54 levels, and has a secret zone.
Here are some screenshots.

I have uploaded this hack but it's still waiting to be moderated.
So, here is an alternate link.

For more information, check the readme inside the .zip file.

Looks good, but the pokeys on picture 3 have kinda an odd pallete, and part of the ground is cutoff in picture 6.
Ha, awesome. Looks really great for an old hack(I was really happy to see the thread- I remember seeing Solcraz or whatever his name is- you know, the SMW hack "reviewer", playing this hack years ago. His videos used to show up a lot.

Anyways, looks neat, if I were you I'd spice it up with some custom music- I'm quite sick of the SMB3 soundtrack.

That's just the image looking like that.

Volke:It would be nice but I don't want to mess up the hack by doing that. Even though using SMAS music is dull. I'm actually learning how
to port music to SMW.

Not too shabby... it looks pretty retro, if you know what I mean, and I like retro. Some palettes look kind of eye-blending and/or slightly unpleasant, though, such as the Pokey's segments' palette (as already pointed out) and the sand palette in the same screen, which could have been smoother.

Aside from these minor nitpicks, though, I like it. I think I will actually give it a go tomorrow - never played the original version, so it is going to be fun trying out this new, improved version.

EDIT: Oh, wait, so the Pokey's palette doesn't exactly show up that way in-game? Well then, ignore my critique about it. :P

Broozer: The Pokey's palette does look like that ingame, I was talking about the picture that has the ground cut off that Volke mentioned.

I gave your submitted hack a try. There were a couple bad palletes here and there. I can't upload screenshots easily so I can't provide examples but Quiet Coast 2 had a bad vine palette. It also lacked proper corner tiles on the blocks (you can see that on the title screen image you submitted). The Ghost House had a very glitchy "No Yoshi intro" and wasn't very fun because it was a "Find the proper door simply by guessing" puzzle. Maybe there was a more proper way to figure it out but I didn't really try.

The BIG problems with this hack is this. After Quiet Coast 2, the next stage requires (or seemingly requires) the Yellow Switch Palace to progress. Its autoscrolling so you cannot properly exit from the side so you're basically forced to die. I then went back and went up to the Yellow Switch Palace. That is where the game crashed for some reason. Perhaps a hack moderator can provide the reason why it crashes but you may want to check it our yourself.

I know I provide a list of issues with this hack but I still thought it (besides the ghost house) was a lot of fun. It just has a couple broken pieces (some bigger than others). Fix them and I'm sure you'll get some rave reviews from the community.

The reason why the vine has a bad palette in that stage is that if I change the palette in that stage, the palette is synched with the bg.
I don't know why the game crashes on the stage after Quiet Coast 2, but I should have known not to have the stage to require the yellow
switch to be hit. I don't understand why the game crashes either but I might end up having to create another IPS with these things fixed.

For those who mentioned Pokey's palette, I was trying to make it look
like as Pokey from SMB2 in Super Mario All Stars.

I understand the reason for the vine palette. One thing that could help is changing the actual vine graphic so it looks better. You can use YYChr and ExGfx to tweak the existing vine.
