This is where I shall show off the death filled mayhem that is my hack. I call it Hell On A Stick and it is blatantly Kaizo. So far it doesn't require any glitches to beat (though there are a couple of bonuses that may require a minor glitch) and I intend on keeping it this way unless there's something that would be just too lulzy to do. It has 3 worlds completed as of now.

Story: Bowser, sick and tired of Mario, has come for him in the dead of night and dragged him to Hell. You must help him escape.

Worlds: The first four will be based off of the four Greek Elements, and then I'll have one world based mostly off of mind games, then there's the Bowser world and then the Special world.

Overworld: Completely redone.

Custom Music: It has been added.

Title screen demo: No longer the default!

Custom graphics: No more munchers, they have been replaced with Deathmines.

Switch Palaces: Not required to beat the game (except for one screw-you that I have planned for very late in the game), but finding them will each unlock a hidden level in Yoshi's house (All switch palaces completed, 0 of 4 bonus levels completed).

Version numbers:

0.1: (no longer available) The original release, this contained no secret levels (yet) and had not changed the overworld. At. All.

0.2: (No longer available) The second demo, this one contained a modified overworld and some new levels, while moving two of the old levels to 'secret' status. The first world had been done.

0.2.5, later 0.2.6: (no longer available) Some bugfixes.

0.3: (no longer available) More bugfixes, and a second world has been done. There are plans for the rest of the worlds, too. One of the old secret levels has been moved back into the main game, and the Red switch palace has been enabled. The second world has its own custom palette, and the Desert level from the first world has one as well, one that will likely be reused in the 4th world.

0.3.2: (no longer available) A couple more bugfixes, among other things that I've forgotten about since I haven't actually been able to edit this topic.

0.3.3 (Outdated Version) Some minor bugfixes, and a balancing of difficulty in the first world. Some people will be happy to know that the Eye of the Storm level has been changed to be a boss level, and as such no longer has That Damn Secret Path enabled.

0.3.4 (Outdated Version) Another round of bugfixes, and the first of 5 levels out of the 3rd world has been added. The second castle now destroys when you clear it, instead of when you clear the switch palace, and the midway gate in the desert level should finally WORK THE WAY IT IS DESIGNED TO. Friggin midway gates...

0.4.0 (Outdated Version) Slight overworld modification, and by that I mean I split the island in two, the west island now a desert. The Desert of Death level will be moved over when I finish this other stupid level I'm working on. However, the rest of the lava levels are done! (And for some reason I'm really tempted to include the original, non-boss version of Eye of the Storm but with the only option being That Damn Secret Path as a bonus level.) Also, the title screen got changed. Woo hoo! In addition, the Earth (Green) Switch Palace is actually a switch palace, and not a freebie.

0.4.1 (Outdated Version) A few levels had tiny modifications, most notably being several FG/BG init positions fixed. There shouldn't be any more of those. Also, there was a slight oversight in the Flaming Fortress--before I enabled the no-yoshi intro, you were able to keep the yoshi you got in-level when you passed through a door, so I forced the player to burn the dino. However, the dino is now stripped upon door usage, and this made the level unbeatable. This has been fixed.

0.4.2 (now 0.4.3) (Outdated Version) Similar to the last patch, there were some graphical modifications, as well as removing a few things that bugged me/other people, and fixing some level glitches that made me angry in the face. Woot~
EDIT: silent update, fixed a buncha map16 shit and replaced a bunch of grey blocks with land tiles.

0.4.4 (Current Version) 99% of grey blocks are gone, map16ed into the abyss. Also I fixed a lot of things that Sadistic Designer told me to fix. At least I think they're fixed. I'm also having trouble with inserting the No Yoshi block, as well as having zero ExGFX skills (so I can't insert the vine end tile, cryface #w{|o}). Anyone willing to help with that gets special thanxed in the credits.
EDIT: silent update, got rid of a wall in Doom Takes Wing that shouldn't have been there. It prevents the level from being completed in the "intended" way but is still doable. It's just harder and not the intent. If you downloaded this version (not that I think anyone did), you ought to replace it with the new one. Old save files are still compatable, and don't even bother if you actually got past the 2nd stage as it's the only one affected.

Hoping for someone to Let's Play my rom hack, Hell On A Stick. Current version 0.4.3.

Hoping for willing betatesters and/or LPers. PM if interested. (I wanna know where you're uploading your vids if at all, so I can watch the pain.)
Can we get some screenshots, and therefore proof that this hack is being made?

Yes, you could say I like Osaka.
Ask and ye shall receive: SCREENSHOTS GALORE. I took one of level C5, one of the overworld and the submap that's done so far, and one from almost all the levels that are done. (Don't wanna show off -too- much, cause then someone might figure out the puzzles. :P)

Woah, that looks like the the same difficulty as Kaizo. I have actually seen Kaizo hacks harder than that but looks and sounds great.

Send me your ROMhacks to LP or else I'll hunt you down.
Stacked and floating Munchers don't look good. If you want to have a floating obstacle like that, then I'd recommend changing them into mines by using this GFX file

Also, the background in the 5th screen looks bland, the pipe in the 6th screen has a bad palette and the vines are cutoff in the 7th screen.
Learn to read. It's kaizo. Remember that these sorta hacks go in the kaizo hack submission thread rather than the ordinary hack area.

Good fucking bye.
It looks all right for a Kaizo hack. Just be sure you don't submit it to this site. There's nothing wrong with making Kaizo hacks, of course, but you'll have to upload the IPS patch to your files if you want to distribute it.

I like Kaio Hacks, And keep this up, I really think you should change munchers to Mines or Death Blocks tho, just, so it will look a little more "pro" than a newbie hack, IMO.

Thanks for the support, and THANK you for that patch. I saw a hack that had Munchers replaced with Gordos and loved it, so I'm glad I can get that done. Right now the only thing holding me back from a release is the castle--I have no real fresh and new ideas for the ice castle, and just a stage full of cheap Kaizo tricks isn't fun at all. Any suggestions would help me get through that much faster.

Will you be able to beat the hack without TASing? =)

Well, so far I've been able to beat all the levels without TAS, although the secret exit for the level in the 5th screenshot can be a total bitch. On one run, I ended up trying to keyjump (not required, but since I'd ditched yoshi to help carry the key I had no other choice) and ended up turning on massive slowdown.

Okay, I finally sat down and just did the castle. I can now call World Two 100% Complete. IPS file included here

However. I'm looking at the overworld for World 3, and it's making me shudder and cringe. I want to use the old Forest of Illusion submap, because the default palette uses red as the color of the sea, giving me a cheap way to make lava. However, there's just no way I'm going to get any sort of land that looks remotely useful without doing one of the following: A, doing a massive restructure of the palette, or B, creating my own graphics tiles and figuring out how to import them.

Neither option looks very attractive to me.

In short, halp plz.

I'm gonna try your IPS =D

And, Isn't it just to move the Forest of Illusion Submap (the SMW one) to the side so you still have the Land palette, or whadd'ya mean?

Lol, I took it down because I had to do some bugfixes, and it wouldn't let me post the updated version. THE UPDATED VERSION IS AT http://bin.smwcentral.net/26730/Hell%20On%20A%20Stick%200.3.2.ips

And what I meant was, I wanted to use the Forest of Illusion Palette, because the water looked like lava, but I couldn't make any cute looking tiles for a cave out of the forest. I've already backed up the tiles on the side but it just doesn't wanna work. Meh.

WHAT THE FRACK?! Flying fish jumping?! There had better be something I'm missing, because otherwise I WILL FIND OUT WHERE YOU LIVE AND KILL YOU!

... Not really, but still.
