Tip: If it's possible to carry a tileset-specific sprite (such as a Buzzy Beetle or Bob-omb) through a pipe, make sure it has the correct graphics and sprite palette on the other side!
I think that everyone who has helped the site in some way has received his due credit. While there are over 10,000 site members, only a small fraction are active. As such, anyone who contributes to the site will be noticed.
If I had to think of underrated people, though, I think that the more reclusive hack moderators deserve a medal for all their work.
I have no idea whether I'm underrated, overrated, or neither, so...*shrug*
How about Dispari Scuro? (And Heisanevilgenius, but heisalsoanextremelysporadicposter.) Although she and he are both inactive, they made a pretty darn good hack. I mean, people drool over some of the ASM stuff in Brutal Mario...well, SMTKO might not have had nearly as many gimmicks, but it at least had custom bosses, and its level design was a HECK of a lot better.
It is one of my favorite hacks, just for the level design.
I suppose Zmann. He created what is pretty much my favorite hack. It is a real solid piece. But just like someone said earlier. I dont think to many hackers are underrated. Graphic artists and composers however are.

Yeah, I'm gonna have to agree about what people have said about Lexator here. I've played some of his hacks (including being the one to moderate and approve Pokemon Darkness) and they are amazing. If only people would pay more attention to Lexator's work instead of fundamentally flawed hacks like Brutal Mario. :/
In my opinion the real underrated people wouldn't be mentioned in this thread, but yeah, that's just a crazy thought.
I'd say BOBO, or Lunartoad is a pretty underrated hacker on this site (he pretty rarely checks the site though, but still), he made a lot of nice hacks (Kid Adventure 1-4), with constant style, fun level design and unique world. However, I like his hacks, but I don't see many people playing them.
What? No mention of my awesome self? I know everyone thinks I am awesome (because I am) but not enough people damn it!
Srsly though, it's really hard to judge who is popular and who is not. The only people I can think of are people I havn't seen or heardof in years, such as RamzaNeko. Anyone remember his hacks?

He's a graphics ace, and his hack seems to be pretty decent. Still, he is quite underrated.
I agree, when he showed off his graphics first in the exgfx showoff thread i knew he was gunna be awesome, and it didn't surprise me when i saw his graphics for the gfx contest. Definitely one of the best graphics artist on this site.
