While the forums were down I managed to do very little on this, so to (badly) compensate I have 3 images. Except I can't give you them, since Flickr's new design gives me blankness. =/

Things to improve on with your overworld
1) It needs more decoration, as mentioned above.
2) It's much, much too flat. Add some ups and downs, lakes and just vary the landscape.
3) A custom palette would be nice.

As for your level screens
Again, a custom palette would be nice.
Mario looks really, really odd. His body looks like it's 16-bit while his hat and shoes are 8-bit with too bright of a palette. I don't know if you drew those graphics yourself or if you downloaded them from somewhere, but you should probably scrap them.
I don't know if those screens are from an actual level, but it seems to definitely be lacking in enemies.
I like the coin/? mark block graphics, as well as the HUD, though. Very nice job on those.

1.) I'm not doing Custom palettes until the standard palettes are done, which will take a while.
2.) Um… sorry, what? I drew them myself and I ripped the palette from the game art of New Super Mario Bros. Wii, and to clarify;
Hat: 4 colours
Face: 5 colours
Body: 5(3 similar) colours
Arms: 3 colours
Legs and feet: 2 colours

Those are fairly similar to SMW's Mario…

3.) I have no idea where all the enemies went, but there are about 3 enemies placed in those two screens, so I guess they were killed?

I've been working on the Main overworld for the past few days, and this is the result:


(The paths aren't finished yet; also ignore the far left.)

The path above the Red Switch is debug, along with the path to 5 castle.

Also I'm still working hard on the perspective of the top-left island.

Looks like a good OW, I really like the top left of it due to the slope/beach thing. Also the big island looks nice but it could use more decoration, such as hills,etc.
There's 3 broken paths near the 5 world.

Anyways, in your latest post shellface, is the blue flower actully an ice flower?
They're SMG2 style berries.

Also yes, that is an Ice Flower. Only the graphics are really done yet though- It'll take a while for it to be a fully fledged powerup.

I finally bothered to patch that Raccoon Mario thing. I decided not to use the Raccoon+Cape patch though, since I couldn't figure out a way to get them TO the item box when touching another powerup (not actually having them in the item box, however).

also I will be changing the tail soon.






I finally bothered to start on 1-1: Past the castle(/chateau). This shows the goomba and a grass decoration.
This slightly older screenshot shows the squished goomba too:






(note that in the second-to-last screen the carrying graphic isn't done yet, so no need to comment on that)

Its good to see the FG is edited, gives it some difference to the orignal tileset. Also nice work getting raccon mario in. Just be careful as levels might become breakable.
