The Temple of Dinosaurs.

Link Thread Closed

Download link! :D
Removed because bad patch. Will hopefully have a new version up soon.
New version is submitted.

One hack.
One world.
Five levels.
No ExGFX files.
One .asm file.
One Xkas Gui patching.
One ROM.
A few weeks of Level Design.
One Lunar IPS.
One hex edit because something broke.

Combine the above, and you get my newest hack: The Temple of Dinosaurs!

Yay. The totally awesome (Except not really) TITLE SCREEN.
Totally unrelated to the hack name, it features dino-rhinos and dino-torches!

Hm. If I was small, I wouldn't be able to get this dragon coin.

Hah! Crushing you, stupid turn block!

Hey, is that a 1-up up there?

Level two! We have pokeys!

And also a mystery gift ? block which you can get if you have a brain.

-- Note: I will only show ONE screenshot of the last three levels. Go play them if you want to see! :P --

Part of the third level. I don't think the charlies approved me jumping on their heads though.

P-switch! I want! How I get? Grammar awesome is!

And then there's the last level, which, surprisingly, features dinos.

...And a download link down here too!

Hack removed, check it out here.

GPX Plus eggs and Pokemons

PokeFarm Eggs and Pokemons

First hack in Full Releases to be removed ;/The Game
You just lost.
To be fair, it wasn't removed due to hack quality, but a bad IPS patch that didn't work. I might check this hack out when a working IPS patch is up though, it seems fairly interesting, and I recall hearing the thread starters name from somewhere before.
For gaming news and Wario discussions, check out Gaming Reinvented and Wario Forums respectively.

As for Mario's Nightmare Quest? Well, it's currently on Fusion Gameworks, ROM Hacking.net or the GCN at the moment.
@BBkaizo:
I was curious what reason there might be to have this hack removed, so I checked the Removal Log...

The thing is, I have already played the hack!
And it works fine, without any checksum fail or patching problems at all...

I have used the .ips patch from the download link in this thread, used ipswin ver 2.0 to patch the file and my clean SMW ROM has the checksum: B19ED489 and is headered.

The patched hack ROM has: A6C574A2

Maybe there was something else that went wrong?
It couldn't have been the .ips patch...

I know this isn't even my hack, but I thought I should let you know if something seems wrong.

Here's a shot of the hack loaded into my snes9x emulator:
...That's odd.. =o

I played through it too (sorry Patgangster, I totally lurked your files so that I could get it #w{=3}), and it worked just fine for me as well! I have no explanation for any potential problems.

About the hack itself, I really liked the message boxes that gave optional challenges! I want to see more of those in the future. However, the music left something wanting. It's the old vanilla music, fine, but there were definite music/level mismatches, such as the second level (athletic music in a cave level? weirrrd). Also, the ending was a little stale too. Level design was definitely on par with other accepted hacks, though. Good job!
you know that it's me that typed this because of my signature right here

Yeah, I know it was removed and why - and I don't know why I didn't bother posting here earlier.
This is one of the times where I really hate not being able to edit my post to remove the old download link. :(

The version in my files is not the version I submitted - It was the version I sent to beta testers. Only some very small changes were made after that and I forgot to re-test the new IPS. My fault.

Also, lurking my files to play it is fine - it's not in there just to take up my space. :P

I will probably resubmit a fixed version that actually works on Saturday or so, when I'm at my computer which has it again. :)

Thanks! :D
On a future hack I will probably code some rewards for said challenges - since there are none here.

The revenge of testing without sound on! (Really, I don't know why I never test with sound. -.-)

...Yeah, the ending isn't really supposed to be completely serious. It's also not exactly the ending the final version has.
Glad you like the level design though :P

You fixed the music in the cave level! I feel like I made a difference today. *sniff* Also, the ending made me chuckle this time.

You know, some of the challenges are already their own reward. In the fourth level, crossing the tape with the key in hand nets the player a 1-up mushroom, so, you know, that's taken care of. As for the rest of them, having no in-game reward isn't so bad; the real reward is the fact that you beat the challenge. Besides, programming in a bonus room for something like, say, not spin-jumping in the third level would involve some ASM magic, and that would mean you hack would be no longer vanilla. It's up to you, though.

Yeah, true. I think about half of the challenges actually reward you - the other half doesn't.

Well, yeah. Still, I'm sure some people would like to actually see a reward for completing the challenge, instead of just a 'yay,I did it'

Indeed. That's why I'm not planning on coding a reward for this hack.
The idea of coding rewards for completing challenges was actually for a future hack. :)
