Ok, so I'm trying to make a custom Reznor battle, but the latest Lunar Magic help file says you can only change the level mode to add sprites.

Then I remembered Kaizo World 2, as well as a few other hacks, and how it had not only sprites, but other objects in the fight as well. I want to be able to add both without the use of external sources. Can this be done with only Lunar Magic? If so, please tell me how. If it can't, then let me know so that I won't be pondering this for eternity.

You can use Reznors in a normal level. You'll have to insert them manually though.
There sprite A9, and their positions are hardcoded. Plus, you need to find the correct GFX, which I don't know. Also, killing the mwon't beat the level, might I suggest the dissasembly found here. Here's the desription

Ok, I'm getting two different answers here, one in short saying that they're usable in normal levels, and are fully functional, and the other saying that it'll need graphics and the level won't end when they're defeated. Kin of confusing.

And also, I have no idea on how to use dissasemblies. I couldn't even find anything about them in the tutorial section, so I have no clue what to do.

no one said that it would be fully funcional in a normal level.. the just said it could b inserted in a normal level

Actually, it's kind of easy to make a custom reznor fight:

1. Make the boss room (2 screens wide)
2. Insert sprite A9 manually four times into the level you want.
3. In Super GFX Bypass, set SP3 to GFX 25
4. Set the sprite palette to 2
5. Set the sprite header to 0E
6. In a hex editor, change 19A9F from 22 0C D7 03 to EA EA EA EA
(^ This will stop the bridge from breaking apart, which doesn't work normally in a regular level.)

And your set. Yes, the level will end if you beat all four. Also, the Reznor's will shoot Mario's fireballs, not the boss ones they use normally. Nothing major, though. Hope this helps!

Ok, so I tried all of the steps, and I seemingly made a successful boss battle room, however, there were numerous problems with the fight itself.

1: The Reznors did not always shoot fireballs
2: Hitting the platforms the Reznors are sitting on does not always kill them, only occasionally when I hit the very corners of the platform.
3: If I manage to kill one, and I ride on its platform for awhile, the Reznor pops back out of nowhere, even though it died.
4: If I get hurt by the Reznors, (contact with body) it shows an image of one during the hurt animation.

After finding all these problems, I tried changing the Level header to mode 9, which is how you normally fight Reznor and THIS happened...


This display error, plus inactive objects that I added, and problems 2 and 3 still persist.


What kills me is that with numerous trials and errors, and following specific directions amounts to a non-working Reznor battle. What kills me even more is wondering how other people did it. Please let me know of any solutions.

If it does require the dissasembly, then someone please tell me how to use it so I can get a god #@^& custom Reznor battle already.

That's odd, it works perfectly fine for me every time. Also, the level header should be set to 00. All the other stuff you mentioned I've never encountered before.

Ok, here's all the info about the level used for the battle. If someone can provide a solution post here or PM me with instructions/fixes or pictures.

The only things I had added were line guides that went left and right, and a line guided platform sprite to stand on.

My settings (that may matter) was level header set to 00, and sprite header set to 0E. Level used is 1A1 with sprites set to forest and FG/BG set to Rope 3. (for line guides) In the Super GFX Bypass I only changed the sprites to SP3 to 25 (for Reznor) and SP4 to 05, (for the line guide platform) and the FG/BG section from 15 to 16. (To support the line guides) I had scrolling set to "vertical scroll at will" and the FG/BG initial positions set correctly.

This may be the biggie: >I am using Lunar Magic 1.71, and Reznor Sprite A9 was not on the list of any of the sprite lists. I had to find an existing Reznor battle room, Ctrl C (copy) all four Reznor sprites, and Ctrl V (paste) them into level 1A1 before making the setting adjustments above.<

That's the current verdict. Again, if anyone knows any solutions, fixes, pictures, or anything of the sort to help me further, please post them here or in a PM. (Even if I need instructions to use the dissasembly if I must. Trying to make this vanilla.)

Now I am wondering how to do this on Windows 8... #tb{:?}
The operating system doesn't make any difference whatsoever. You just press insert on your keyboard for manually inserting the sprite or use the option in LM's menu.
Also, please don't bump 4 1/2 year old threads.
