I am personally very interested in this.
Check out my Youtube channel! 獣耳 Brony for life.
Well I'll never know, but it might become a planet sooner or later.

I can't believe that I still remember this place.
Actually, that planet was discovered a while ago.

Really? I find this topic rather interesting.
Same here, I never knew they'd find a planet that's anything like ours.Free counters!

Yeah, I was quite surprised. A few weeks ago I watched a documentary that stated that it is almost impossible for liquid water to form in any other galaxy at just the right distance from their sun. If that theory is confirmed, I will be greatly surprised.
Yeah I knew there was, is, will be, at least 1 other planet like Earth.

While I was watching American Idol like a year ago, I saw news break thing thats like going to tell you what news is going to be on at 10, and it said something about a planet like earth.
Not too shocked by this news - the Universe does expand after all. The part that interests me most is that each side is in either perpetual daylight or darkness. Living just on the edge of the side out of the light would be awesome.
Yeah, this is ancient. I remember hearing about it back in 2008.

Even if it can harbor life, I wouldn't expect any intelligent life to somehow form, maybe bacteria, but nothing beyond that. Aliens are total bullshit. There has been NO EVIDENCE of any extraterrestrial life aside from some microscopic organisms on Mars. "Alien Lights" can be best explained as fake, planes, weather balloons, or scientific experiments. Humanoid life like in the movies is just about impossible to develop in nature. "Alien Abductions" can best be described as lies, schizophrenic hallucinations, or frightful memories induced by trauma from your incarcerated uncle when you were seven.

Considering this planet hasn't been known for even a month, I highly doubt that.

You probably heard about Gliese 581d, which is 581g's neighbor.

This is relevant. A Message From Earth is basically Earth sent some messages and photos via radio waves towards Gliese 581d, so that if there is life capable of receiving radio waves, they'll learn about us. The cool thing is that Gliese 581g can catch the message as well. The Message will get there in 2029.

Actually it's not that far-fetched for the same reason that a planet is likely to have grass and trees.

I see you looking at my sig. You're just jealous.

You know, this galaxy has BILLIONS and BILLIONS of stars, and BILLIONS of planets. And it's just this galaxy, because the Universe has BILLIONS and BILLIONS of galaxies, and you know, if the multiverse theory is right, there would be BILLIONS and BILLIONS of universes.

tl;dr: It's just too big for a single civilization.

New planets are discovered every day. This isn't really news to me. Obviously there is life on other planets. The only thing that would interest me is if we actually found intelligent life on the planets. It's obvious that they exist, but sadly, we haven't been able to gain the resources to make us able go to these planets to discover them.

OH MAN, A newly discovered planet has been discovered! I'm pretty sure by now we've reached the unknown depths of the ocean floor! Oh wait, we... haven't, well, that's stupid.

Heh, reminds me of the time I was flying east at sunset. Night was in front of us, day was behind, and I had a window seat. It was incredible.

I don't get it... someone holds a mirror in front of Earth so we think there's another planet?

But yeah, I think this is cool, but it would take us years and years to get there at the speed of light, even. We can't travel at the speed of light, so...

What?

And not to get drain anyone's hopes, but this happens about once a year. Being the habitable zone is not the hard part, the chances are only astrnomical as opposed to unbelievable, but water/life/etc.? Don't count on it.

80% percent of our own planet hasn't been explored, almost all of it being the ocean and ocean floor.
