Just last month one of my friends showed up at my house with his deck and he's like "Ohey we haven't played Yu-Gi-Oh in forever. I suddenly need to play it." or something. So we played. He beat me twice. Then I realised "hey, this isn't my deck, this is a deck of random extra cards." so I find my real deck and proceed to curb stomp him.
Edit: Suddenly have the urge to make a SMWC card game.
I started with Pokemon when I was 9 and played it about one year, then I played Yu Gi Oh for about half a year and then played Magic for about two years.
Every day I took the bus to a store in the city where all my friends were sitting, playing card games and we were just sitting, talking and playing all day. It was pretty fun but then the store closed and most of us just stopped playing because.. no idea actually.
I even made my own Card games with my brother where making the cards was the most fun part of course even though it was hard to make a card that actually had a chance without costing too much.
-------------------- Your layout has been removed.
I still have some Yu-Gi-Oh! cards and stuff, some of my friends still play them too, so I wouldn't throw them away.
I used to have pokemon cards, but I never played it. Nobody ever knew how to play that game around here.
There was a time when everyone played Duel Masters, but I never really got that much of those cards.
Lastly, there was this really cool Mario Party card game that I still have somewhere. Eventually I drew my own cards and taped them over real cards to make it more interesting. I think my friends enjoyed playing that, Because I sure as hell did.
I first got pokemon cards when I was 5 or 6. Back when pokemon was the greatest thing since push pops. My friends, my brother and I played it a lot. I even got the trading card game for Game Boy, I loved that game.
When we moved to Mexico, nobody I knew had pokemon cards, they either never sold them here or the fad died. But a few years later, yugioh surfaced and turned into a fad here. I got a lot of them.
It got so popular here, a lot of other card games also popped up. Myths and Legends, Magic the Gathering... and even some soccer team cards and this yugioh parody with characters we all know made eggs. Yugioh stanted out most here though, having an anime show and stuff.
I still have my cards somewhere, not all of them, but a few.
My friends did play a few weeks ago, they bet their dead grandfather's souls in a duel.
I got into Yugioh a while back (I still have a ton of cards) but I'm trying to get out of it. It's just to expensive. You'd be surprised at how much some Yugioh cards cost. The current highest monetary-wise card in general circulation is $80, roughly. The most expensive is a misprint that was only given out to official tournament winners. It's like $700-800.
Anyways, I found an online Yugioh program that's completely free. I also figured out how to make your own cards for it. It's a bit difficult to figure out at first, but once you get the hang of it, it's totally worth it.
But the card game I'm really into right now is 1000 Blank White Cards. Read up on it to see how it works. Although I haven't played it much, it's really, really, reeeeeeeeally fun. I highly recommend it.
Edit: Just realized that my link was broken. Crap.
I play games with traditional cards. Mostly Shanghai Rummy, because it has entertainment in the sense that your opponent is absolutely dumbstruck to learn that you've been hoarding the cards you "need" for most of the round. The last hand is fun because no discard takes forever if the hand keeps building up.
