Last anyone heard from him was 2013 I believe?
Certainly won't be coming back sadly.

I think you can extract the .asm with like Shex (which includes a hex to 65c816 converter), but you'd have to debug with bsnes+ or Geiger's Debugger to figure out where it's stored in the rom.

That's true.
I tried learning how to do that but I couldn't figure it out.
His Marx boss and half-block would easily be the most valuable.
To this day I don't think anyone knows exactly how he made the half-block.

Yeah but who would bother going through all that effort?

EDIT: Ninja'd

Die hard collectors, ASM learners, people who are just interested overall. As I said having these assets would be absolutely incredible.

You could always ask in #asm. I'm sure they wouldn't mind replying if it's just to study code.

It's really not that much effort.

Shex conversion is literally just highlighting a bunch of hex and pressing a button.

Tbh I'm less interested in the bosses (except Nova/Marx) and more interested in that one section of the hack I uncovered where both layer 3 and layer 4 are in use.
It's not layer 4, LX5 said it was just two layer 3s moving at different speeds or smth

Layer 4 would require you to be in Mode 0 which has a smaller palette.

That too, I mean hell this was made in 2008 and it already implemented layer 3 and in such a wildly creative way? Romi was a god of Rom Hacking haha
I think you can unlock the roms with Recover Lunar Magic to help get some what of an idea on how it was done?
On top of that I'm still interested in how he made his Mario graphics, if I recall correctly I think someone said he used a patch to make them work? Not sure why or how but.

Parasyte's version isn't good for all of them, some glitch up in Lunar Magic. Use The Hack Fix/Translation Team's version.

Still fascinating. I've yet to see someone do that with Lunar Magic's current capabilities.

I love the player graphics in Mario Fantasy. It's a perfect blend of the SMW style and the Paper Mario style.

The music too aaaa
Certainly the better ports I've heard
Decided to unlock the roms real quick, they still came out a bit glitched but are overall intact.
By the looks of it he made some overworld graphics too!

they're okay i guess

I'm more interested in the ASM. I wanna read through it and see if I can learn anything new.

Let's not kid ourselves the music was laughable

If you want to you could try to extract the ASM yourself or even ask someone in the Discord.
I would do it myself but I don't think I would personally get any use out of them since I'm not interested in learning ASM right now besides collecting them.
And yes but I'm mainly talking about the Marx port. It's the only Marx port that doesn't sound like absolute garbage haha

I might ask on how to extract ASM from later Brutal demos too.

I'm curious on the Overworld palette ASM, Seven Koopalings (not sure if data.zip's is finished), the Yoshi rail shooter and Chomp Shark.

Maybe the Overworld sprites and their insertion code too, find a way to document it on SMWC in case anyone could find use of it. Probably Erik can do his Overworld spritetool without needing help but.

I don't think the Seven Koopaling is finished in the data.zip
I would love getting all of the Yoshi's Island enemies from Bowser's Castle though. They are included in bowser.asm or whatever it's called but no one has separated them to be usable as stand-alone sprites as far as I know.

I could read through the code and separate everything for you + port to PIXI if you want, though this would take me some days.

Plus, I'm working on studying Lemmy for now.

Oml yes pleaseeee haha
I would love using them for a YI styled hack (we are allowed to use assets from data.zip right?)

carol released them. They're pretty open to people redestributing their work for the most part.
