Just keeping it to emoji reactions now, might post some levels there or try to help with hack bullshit on the JP thread but other than that I'll lay low to not piss them off any further haha. KitikuSa is kinda my friend so I don't wanna disrespect him :c

/v/orld 1 was proposed to be accepted with the caveat that it'd get censored but what's weird is that while Vhack and co. were willing to censor it for raocow and Twitch streamers they abstained from a public censored release on SMWC, if I'm not mistaken? 4ch having trouble controlling their power level apparently.

I'm not gonna pressure Japanese folk to release their stuff outside of their clique like I would other non-centralites, as much as I want the hacking scene to be united. Like Brazilians and Japanese, from what I've seen, have some reservations regarding SMWC's general attitude (some that I agree with at times, but). ASPE even had #FuckC hidden in its hex.

Let's not forget the constant uploader dumpster diving people did for VIP5 demos back in the early 10s, that was a big no-no. I'm still sure carol like, made up the whole "I'm too busy because I'm married" excuse to get people to stop emailing him lmao

Also @ kronos, don't you play with savestates? I think you can do it if you do. I have not played MST's hack or /v/orld 2 or beat /v/orld 1 because MAN I really Do Not Want To Play Romhake rn. I kind of just wanna make levels for myself, which is what I'm doing.

Well i Think i Will Defenitely try the Memorial Hack could be Funy a Funy Little Blockl Snake Hell As for Save State i Only Curently Use the Save State for Saving Purpose Only Used Rewinds some Times as it was once Suggested me to not Show my Deaths but Yeah i Defenitely will give my Best :D

By the way you Seems to Know very well some thinks About Internationaly Hacking Have you Heard maybe Something about I Think the Name was Super Mario Otl it was a Hack only Demo Yet but Had some Nice Bosses Like Brutal Mario if you Not Heard of it I Suggest to look on the Demo atleast once The Hack had Nice Ideas :D

As someone who just completed Memorial Service Tempest after showing it to lion a few days ago, I'd recommend leaving comments with complaints/praise on the smwx uploader page.
Memorial Service Tempest has been updated.
MST fixed a crash in "あくうかん", fixed a bug in "やすらぎのとき", as well as adding retry systems to some levels. It's not perfect yet (あくうかん is still an RNG roadblock to anyone hoping to complete the hack without save states), and the levels that have retry systems don't give you infinite retries (you still lose a life when you die). Hopefully he'll update it again soon to make some additional changes.
Again, I'd highly recommend leaving any feedback on the smwx page for the hack. MST seems to be responsive to comments.
I've been busy with Suikoden, FF1 and Kirby Star Allies to actually play any Mario hacks, sorry, but I'll try to drop by.

A collab has started development a few weeks back in KitikuSa's server. Started out as just 10 stages in a submap, but it seems to be expanding steadily. So far KitikuSa's shuffling around Map16 and the like to organize things better, but progress has been going pretty decently.

Name for it is Japanese Level Design Collaboration, or JLDC. I'll stay mum for most of it to avoid any faux pas or unwanted leaks.

imo just the fact you mentioned about it will alert the obtrusive people to get in... but whatever (it's not like kitikusa isn't posting stuff about it publicly on twitter anyway...)

It has got my attention, hope it ends well, japanese level design is still interesting nowadays.

Cadmium/Kadomiumu released a pretty old hack! Kyoudai Mario, or Sibling Mario. Seems to be from 2010. Will try it out soon. Hope everyone has fun. Be respectful to him in the comments if you can speak Japanese (i.e. not Google Translate). I'm not sure if he speaks English so be wary!

I tried playing it before and I dropped it before completing the first level because it was hot garbage.

Would you prefer I write an essay describing why the hack isn't good?

Anyways, I was originally going to post here looking for an old version of a hack from 2015, so... would anyone happen to have a copy of one of the old versions of Bald Mario? It's a hack from 2015, and I'm looking for an early version of the hack because I found a Japanese LP of it on youtube, and the final video of the LP shows a level that is not present in the version of the hack on smwx or either of the two copies of the hack on smwdb. The creator of the hack, Anisaki, seems to have deleted their social media accounts, so I can't contact them directly to ask about this.
For context, both versions of the hack on smwdb (November 4, 2015 and November 8, 2015) have 13 stages, while the version shown in the LP has twelve stages, with a final stage that's completely different from the one in the most recent version of the hack.

I dunno I just feel like describing a hack as hot garbage is rude, but I'm also hypersensitive considering I just recovered from a second psychotic break in the span of three days

I think it's a lot more constructive to describe why you don't like a hack, than just to post "lol this hack is hot trash" without any context behind it.

The point of constructive criticism is that the person it's directed towards is actually supposed to see it. There is no point in going into detail on why I don't think this hack is good except for pleasing two people in this thread.

Except calling someone's work "hot garbage" without going into further detail doesn't come off as constructive. I get what you're saying, but you don't need to write an essay, just summing up your reasoning in a few words is enough.

Be careful with how you word your criticism next time. Not a warning or anything, just a heads-up.

Alright then, here are the reasons why I don't think Kyoudai Mario is good.

Stage 1 (not including the Yoshi House): Starts off with a random gimmick that lasts for two seconds and adds nothing to the level. The level then turns into "do one tile vine jumps while carrying a shell". Getting a star kills the music. You have to do jumps that are nearly frame-perfect (killing shell-less koopas in a one-tile high corridor). Then you have to do a frame-perfect trick to reach the goal (picking up a key on the same frame that you jump off of it). You also have to do an extra overly-precise jump if you want to get the secret exit. Even with save states, this level isn't any fun.

Stage 2: The On/Off block gimmick is poorly used (you have to deal with blue koopas kicking shells and hitting the switch). In addition, the music's broken. Because of this, if you die, the game crashes. I also suspect that the game would crash even if you beat the stage, so the game is literally unplayable at this point. The reason I say "suspect" is because there's a jump right after the midpoint that I can't figure out how to do, even after looking at a map of the level, so I can't even reach the end anyways.

Getting the secret exit of stage 1 just gets you the yellow switch palace. You still have to do stage 2.
The music issue would be acceptable if it wasn't for the fact that this hack was (re?)released in 2020.

I think this is an adequate explanation for why I don't like the hack.
So, in other words...

The hack has setups that don't always work, requires frame perfect precision, is overall repetitive, and is a buggy mess.

I think I summed it up quite nicely.

That sounds about right.
Anyways, I'm going to repost my question from earlier.

I can't speak Japanese, and I don't want to be a cringey idiot posting in broken google translated Japanese.
