Tip: When determining a time limit, remember that players won't be as familiar with the level as you are. If you normally complete the level with around 100s left on the timer, others might run out of time on their first try.
I have recently acquired a very prominent display case on a site that is "almost" as popular as ours. However, while our fine ad certainly is worthy of the spot, I would like to put something more interesting there. As such, I am launching a small competition.
I would like you to design some leaderboard banner ads of the dimensions 728x90 pixels that I can put up on display. Anyone who can draw or is good at graphical design can participate! What to put on there, you ask? It could be a simple ad, a comic strip, a fine piece of art, anything goes! The goal is to come up with as many different leaderboards we can. We'll keep going until interest is lost or we are booted off the spot!
Please send all submissions to me by PM. I will select the best and put them on rotation as they come in. Everyone who gets a leaderboard on display will also earn a 2010 Leaderboard Design Contest Participant badge, and who knows, maybe we'll even put up a vote for the overall best leaderboard design?!
This is your chance to shine!
Note that the ad will link back to SMW Central at all times.
Cool competition. I wonder how long it'll take them to realise what's happening ...
Of course, I'm betting they'll do the same thing back to us during the competition or after it. But hey, everyone's happy because we all gain some sort of revenue. Technically they're paying more anyway since our ads are more expensive. :)
Could we keep track of the competition on the front page, like with some kind of leaderboard? Then we could have a Leaderboard Leaderboard. But we'd need a competition for that leaderboard too, and a way of keeping track of that score...
