Say, since you're doing some SPM graphics, might I recommend the Woah Zone or Bitlands FG? They seem pretty easy compared to others in the game, and they would make people oooh and ahhh.

Completely up to you, I'm just throwing it at you in case you wanted to *shrug*

Since nobody is doing it, I'll come up with one. How about Murtsul (Lustrum spelled backwards)?

That is a great name, it also sounds like something a Yoshi would say(Murtsul! Murtsul!) and a foreign name. If Pikaguy comes back, he has had odd entrances and exits ever since I first noticed his hack idea about pipes and Dr. Willy, he should take some notice on what you said, NES Boy.
I am not a hacker by trade, I am an observer and I can be very observant. I tend to lurk around here to prolong the good experience of playing the original SMW. Whatever can add onto it is something that I will definitely do when I am bored which is often. And I will rarely post and give praise when needed to the hacks that may make me interested to relive memories.

My worst enemy in Mario isn't Bowser but my controller that keeps on getting disconnected from the inside. Might be my memory count.
I think I'm going to enjoy this hack.

Ah ha ha ha ha! I hear you guys.

LuigivsKoopa: Why do I put Luigi, but say Mario? If you had read my previous posts, you'd know that was a mistake. I meant to say "Luigi" where I said "Mario".

S.N.N.: Actually... I was planning on one of the Castle Bleck secret levels taking you through a few SPM worlds... Like the World of Nothing. :P (SO boring, isn't it?) Woah Zone might actually go with Rainbow Road, though. I like that idea.

Mericles: I saw what he said, but I don't exactly like the idea... Your little thing of what he would say is odd. Especially since Yoshis have been known to be able to SPEAK OUR LANGUAGES. :P But I MIGHT take that name. (Heck, maybe I'll have a little fun and name the Yoshi "S.N.N." instead. XD)

Also guys, I'm here every day. I just rarely post. ;)

It looks really good! I look forward to playing the castle bleck levels. I really didn't see any problems. Also I am back.
Hum... This blank space is no longer blank.
Pika: If Yoshi spoke another language that would make the game too weird. Usually, it seems, in very mainstream kid-based games(not insulting SMW though) that the foreigner usually either speaks English or no language at all(except for Pika!). However when Yoshi eats an enemy and does that noise(sounds like he is trying to breathe in and out) it sounds like Murtsu.

I love those secret level ideas. I still need the answer of whether Dr. Willy and a few of the Robot Masters will be in there and I need it now! ::Megaman fanboy crying::

I thought I already answered that question with... Oh, right. I didn't post.

Yes, they will be. But most likely, they won't act like the actual bosses. For one, I have no ASM skill whatsoever, and two, I'd rather you bounce on their heads to defeat them like normal (with no life bar) than actually having a life bar for Luigi.

Also, I'm wanting to change all the block graphics. ? Block is the hardest... I can't seem to make a good ? graphic from scratch... Anyone wanna try to make a good ? graphic for me? I don't need the block with it, since you guys don't even know just what the block is supposed to look like... I can add the ? onto the block myself- I just need a good ? graphic.... In only white. Thanks...

Mericles: And WHY do you not want Yoshis to speak English?
<Adam> I feel like smwc is a prostitute now, because we put up a porn ad for money
I agree with Pika. The whole idea of saying only your name is getting old. It worked for Pok'e'mon for a little while. Then it just dies away and became annoying. Have them speak English for simplicity, or any other languages if the hack comes in them.

Perhaps I should argue that "Yoshi" itself is Japanese and not English. It is not that I don't want a Yoshi to speak English but I would think that a guy living in a clocktower like a king of a tribe would speak English but have a different name that is closely related to the noise a Yoshi makes. I'll try to find a way of delivering an example.

My problem is that it was either Yoshi's scream in SMWI or something he said in YI that made me think of the name "Murtsu" as fantastic. Even people who speak perfect English degenerate into a native language when scared or mad. That is just what Yoshi does when he flees.

Note: I am not citing that the great clocktower Yoshi(who could be named Yoshi) shouldn't speak English. I am just saying that it would be more appropriate to name him Murtsu than Ben Brown or Bobby Bracker. I was also saying that Murtsu fits one of the distress signals of the Yoshi, so ironically it would fit a clocktower Yoshi.

OK, now that I've made my point a little more clearer(I hope)

Correct about non-posting. That is why I stayed so long with the hack idea, because of the promise(from the beginning) of influences from my second favorite gaming series, Megaman. OK sprite palletes are fine also.

I hope that I've settled the point. I do not want the Yoshis to speak some cutesy foreign language from a Kid's TV Show. I just thought that Murtsu was perfect because the sound effect instantly came into my head(SMRPG?) of a Yoshi making a sound that fits the name almost perfectly.

Mericles, for the last time, I am NOT going to use that name. Okay?

Oh, here's a new idea. Do you guys know of my idea for levels you can only beat by collecting 5 Silver Coins? Well... I've been playing Wario's Woods lately (the SNES version, mind you), and I've been wondering how I might be able to incorporate the Wario's Woods Diamond into my hack. Just now, an idea struck. Replace the Silver Coins with JEWELS. What do you guys think? Stick with Silver Coins, or go with Jewels?

Also, I'm having a tough time making the second level. To get the key that lets you into a shed that takes you to the end of the level, you have to go through the sewers. To get to the sewers, you have to go through two levels of the basement of a house. It's made of SMB3 Bricks ('cause I want to). The problem is, I'm having a hard time thinking of ideas for the second level number. I want it to be adventurous, but not the kind where you have to get all 5 Yoshi Coins. That's saved for a later level. Any ideas?

Thanks, guys. I'm glad people are still interested.

Coins or diamonds? Stick with coins. Diamonds are moreover Wario's thing.

As for levels, I really can't help you. If I was any good at thinking up levels, I'd have made a hack by now.

*Sigh* Content please. Does that on any way add to this thread? -_-

Erm, use something original I say. Maybe even have it depend on the world you're in! :D
Hmmmm.... Maybe, Boingboingsplat....

I promise to get some new screens up soon... I PROMISE.

In other news, I'm planning on releasing a demo of the hack after World 3. Does anyone have fixed versions of the Special World Passed/No Special World Passed blocks? The ones that come with BlockTool use the wrong offsets to check, and *someone* was supposed to get me fixed versions. Haven't heard back from the person yet.... I seriously need these blocks for Pendulum Pyramid.

"Mericles, for the last time, I am NOT going to use that name. Okay?"

Agreed, and so I apologize(though I thought that it was in consideration). I was only defending another point that is irrelevant to the conversation we are having right now in that you believe that I wanted a complete linguistic change from English to another language. Just because Nintendo probably wouldn't have made it English if it wasn't fit for kids, doesn't mean that I am against it.

It is just, rather, instead of being treated like a whiny child on here I will end this point of reference. A lot of it is already so tangled up that this conversation isn't about the name, Murtsu(Pika's head explodes), anymore but the integrity of the original format of language for the Yoshis. I sort of am to blame for that, as I tried to reinforce my points using that name as a prop.

So I apologize for helping you to steer this whole thread off-topic to a point where you are criticizing only 5% of my post's intent. I shall explain in greater detail if you want, but this is enough for me. So Murtsu, the justification and my justification for a more appropriate name that isn't Anglo-Saxon are not, and shall not.

Now that we've got that point out of the way:

"Oh, here's a new idea. Do you guys know of my idea for levels you can only beat by collecting 5 Silver Coins? Well... Jewels would be perfect, and possibly bombs for special powers or something. Utilizing a thematic element would encourage creativity but try to not let loose by having the jewels not fit with the "collect dragon coin" sound or collect coin sound.

"Also, I'm having a tough time making the second level. To get the key that lets you into a shed that takes you to the end of the level, you have to go through the sewers. Since I am pretty poor at explaining myself on this thread, I shall not be of great help. However, you might need to explain yourself here. By two levels you do mean two "levels of a house" as in layers, right?

I would think of it like that as you mention that the end of the level is through the sewers through two houses. That makes it sound a lot like a plumbing job, or an urban environment. It would be very funny if a few skateboarders or some "gangsta" wanna-bes were a few of the enemies in that stage, or perhaps there is a custom tile of graffiti.

OK, to start off Mario is in a village. This village is on a road that leads to the suburbs of a community called the Paprika Kingdom called Haysen Surbubs. The suburbs here are filled with plenty of homes, but only one of them can take you to the sewers, as it is to make it harder you can have an instant death trap in another.

Of course, if you want to use an original enemy(I know that I keep on talking about him) use a Charging Chuck like the guy is a big football fan. Mario must go down a few pipes to the sewers through basements filled with bats, rats, and other grimy creatures. The basement also has a pipe at the end that leads to the second level.

This second level basement isn't much different than the first but there is a dragon coin hidden in the rafters. Another pipe leads to the sewers. If the poisonous lake that is in another hack could be imported that would be great to the sewers. The YI sewers would also be excellent.

That is not much of an idea, but I'll have to give it time. Just remember, pipes, pipes, pipes always useful to anything Mario!

"Thanks, guys. I'm glad people are still interested."

I am guessing that it is supposed to be my pleasure.

Alright, I'll try to explain better.

Silver Pipeline 2 starts in a small place with only 3 buildings. #1 is the shop Silver Sales. You can buy Mushrooms, Fire Flowers, and Springboards here. Building 2 is the shed I was talking about. You can only get into it through a pipe in the 3rd building, and the pipe in the shed leads to the sea, Silver Pipeline 3. Building 3 is a big house with two floors. To the left of the entrance is a guy who explains what you should do. To the right are some ? Blocks and Bricks to smash. Upstairs and to the left are Key Blocks. You need to find the key to them to gain access to the pipe that leads to the shed. To the right, the entrance to the sewers. The place is currently 2 level numbers. (When I say "# levels", I mean level NUMBERS in Lunar Magic. So "two levels" means it takes up two levels in the ROM, not floors or overworld levels. If I talk about floors, I say floors. If I talk about OW levels, I say overworld levels.) I need some good ideas for the second part that would have you explore. Currently, my idea is that you go left, through a maze of doors and pipes, and find a P-Switch. You take it to another spot, use it, and get a Silver P-Switch. You take that back to start of the second section, and go right instead of left. Use it somewhere over there, get Key, take another pipe to get back into the first level of the sewers. Then you leave, go back into the house, open the blocks, go to the shed, beat the level. Like it? Got a better idea? Lemme know.

looks good
All my user bars and junk are in my Bio so read it.
People, beware. I have new pics, but....

THERE ARE ABOUT TWENTY-ONE PICS IN ALL. Yes, 21. I think. I'll post the pics here with the image tags, but if it's too many for that, then please, SOMEONE edit them to just URLs. I don't wanna break rules trying to update my hack's topic...

Also, note that they're filled with SUPER PAPER MARIO graphics. Custom, to be exact, since the originals are too big for SMW. I forgot who made the tiles I used, but whoever you are, I thank you for making them. Oh yeah, and the hack is now called Super Luigi: The Starry Race, and for good reason! Now, the pics!

It's-a Luigi! See the Venus Fire Trap try to burn Luigi! See the SPM pipes! ...Look at my new ? Block graphic. It shines, just like the SMB3 Bricks do! The Note Block's been changed, too! Nice, huh?

Luigi walking through some Small SPM Pipes. (Note that it's still SMB3 Mario GFX. I couldn't find the normal Super/Firey Luigi GFX from SMB3 in SMAS! ...And I kinda gave up on ripping from a picture. >_>)

This area's no longer underground! See the waterfall flowing down calmly. See the SMB3 Munchers wanting to take a nibble of you. See the Donut Blocks fall when you step on 'em. Look at the Cement Block graphic now. It's an SPM block? Yay! Got it from that custom SPM tiles set. Munchers and Donut Blocks will get new looks in due time...

Luigi jumps to get you a good look at the new On-Off Block graphic! Please ignore the ugly Donut Block sprite at the bottom. I haven't gotten around to fixing that with ExGFX again so it can use all colors of a palette...or at least the first 8. That's all I ask of it. >_<

Behold! My new Brick graphic. It glows instead of shines. And yes, I took it from the aforementioned custom SPM set. Did I mention my ? Blocks are based on the ? Block found in those tiles, too? No? Oh. I should've mentioned that. Well, now you know.

My new "Used" Block graphic. The "> <" face on it is based off the one on the SMW used block, but that's it. This was the first block to use this blocky style in this hack, if I remember correctly.

Behold my pride and joy! Not the SPM Chapter 1-1 ground, but the TREES! Those things were HARD to get in! But I did it, and sacrificed all of Palette 6 for the tree. But guess what? It's totally worth it. Pipes will only use Palettes 4, 5, and 7. Palette 1 is for blocks meant to be yellow/brown, like ? Blocks, Coins, and Empty Blocks. Palette 0, which will be Orange? IT'S A SECRET. ;) Just kidding. I'm using it for things originally meant to be Red, such as Red Switch Blocks, now ORANGE Switch Blocks. Also, it's used for SMB3 Pipe Corners. SO THERE YOU HAVE IT.

Want World 1-2 pics? OKAY! Here we goooo!

Silver Pipeline 2:

Look! It's a house! ...Note the SMB3 ground. Looks like I forgot to change it to the SPM ground I already made for the level. OOOPS. XD Seriously, DID forget to do that. My bad. Anyways, this house is a Shop. Mushroom signs mean Shops.

Your average house interior. Everything is custom. I sacrificed AN ENTIRE BACKGROUND PALETTE for that Toad. Why do you not see much of the outside in the background? Because the Toad's colors mess up the sky. I'm not replacing the Toads. Not in this world. Instead, I'd rather cover up the error. Hey, why try to fix it and make things worse when I can just hide it? Aaaanyways... Press Up next to the Toad, and...

WELCOME TO SILVER SALES! The 3rd shop block doesn't do ANYTHING right now, because it's supposed to be a Portable Springboard. You heard me right. PORTABLE. SPRING. BOARD. But since I forgot what number it is for those... I'm waiting for SOMEONE to get back to me on that. They offered to make the block for me. Juuuust waiting for that now.

YOUR MISSION, IF YOU CHOOSE TO ACCEPT IT... Lol. This Toad tells you what you need to do to clear the level. Oh yeah, to the right is his "kitchen", where you have a few Bricks and some ? Blocks. Two of the ? Blocks have items in them. The rest have coins. Two Bricks have Coins in them. The rest? Break 'em. Upstairs...

ONES WHO DOES NOT HAVE KEY CAN'T GO IN. Sorry, couldn't resist. XD Aaanyways... This leads to the pipe taking you to the shed. Don't find the guy's key, and you can't get in there. Go right to enter THE SEWERS.

Remind you of anything in SMB3? Bricks everywhere. Oh look, Blue Bricks. Guess what? Throw Blocks. There's two things you can do here. Either use the Throw Blocks to carve out a path, or just swim up the waterfall. :P

This is fairly obvious, is it not? I want to say something funny here, but I'm holding back. Oh well. Either get a Throw Block and take it here, or do the simple thing and grab a Buzzy Beetle. To avoid losing it, just walk up against the bricks, hold up, and release the Buzzy. You throw it up against the bricks, smash the second one from the "ground", and then you can either do it again to make a way through, or smash the one on the bottom. Or, do whatever you want.

The "P" means "P-Switch". Press it! PRESS IT!!!!

And then you fall down here. To keep you from killing yourself there, I've made it so you have to wait for the timer to expire before you can continue. Like heck I'd give you all those FREE COINS. ._.

You gotta lead the Super Shell along down here! Just don't kill it, 'cause you'll need it. If you DO kill it, though...

Hop through this pipe, which...

...reloads the room, and spits you out here. Be careful, though. Puntin' Chuck awaits you at the bottom....and so does Chargin' Chuck. :o

THIS is why you need the Super Shell. Bring it here, get it to hit the block, and an ugly vine appears! XD ..Sorry 'bout the color of the vine. I'll fix that later. I swear I will. But maybe it's not so bad. What do you think? Oh yeah, and you don't really need the Super Shell. Buzzy Beetle works, too, but it's fast, so you have to be VERY careful not to let to go too far off-screen if you try it. Super Shell is slower than you, so it's better. Whatever works for you, y'know?

And finally, an unfinished maze of doors. Here, the objective is to find a Blue P-Switch, use it to get past Blue P-Blocks, get a SILVER P-Switch there, and use it back at the entrance to the maze and over to the right to get to the key, then use the nearby pipe to return to start, go back into the house, then go to the... Well, you get the idea.

Enjoy. Now, one more thing.... The screen-scrolling pipes. SPM's pipes don't work well with Horizontal ones. You can still see a part of Luigi at the bottom of the pipe when going horizontally. So, here's where I want your opinions. Do you want me to keep with mikeyk's pipes, which are slow, work well in keeping them like SMB3's pipes, and actually stop the timer? Or do you want me to use FuSoYa's pipes, which DON'T stop the timer, are faster, are glitched a bit in water areas and at the bottoms of levels, but offer better pipe choices, such as horzontal and vertical Small pipes? If you want the latter, I'd like it if someone could try to find a way to be able to make Pipe Corners for the Small Pipes. Thanks in advance!
