How do I get the "Cross section" Layer 3 to work. I just can't seem to figure it out. I changes the BG3 to Cross section cover, it still doesn't work, it just creates a glitchy box that disappears when I go in a cross section.

Mono Migrator report. All methods work on Mono fine, just that you have P/Invokes which guarantees your app to a lifetime of single-platform hell. Remove the P/Invokes (why use gdi32 when you have System.Drawing o_o) and remove the windows dependent docking library.

layouts suck
This actually got me into hacking Yoshi's Island again... It's a lot easier to map out cross sections and the like when you can see exactly what they'll look like in-game.

I found a very minor glitch: The description for objects EE and EF need to be switched; EF is the solid one.

Does it really matter what it's called? In my eyes it's something wrong with the program, so I'll call it a glitch. A complaint would be the fact that it doesn't render backgrounds yet. (Not that I'm complaining about that.)

Well, one thing, which can doubtlessly be called pointless and redundant is the above post of Mippish.
Aside from those discussions about whether to call that a glitch or complaint, I have found a real glitch:
Ingame, object 69 cannot be smaller than 4x4. Even if it's 1x1 in GE, it's always at least 4x4 ingame. GE, however, shows the wrong graphics, because it can be scaled down to 1x1 there. You must lock the downscale there or make a patch, which makes, that ingame it looks like in GE, Romi.

I don't like to upload the new version with only a few fixes, but recently I've been busier than I expected and the pace has gotten even slower. So even with minor updates, I'll upload.

The editor's Yoshi palette is just read-only visualization. So changing the combobox's index affects nothing.

I treat the main display's rendering completely with GDI to speed up rendering. Sorry, I can't deny that I've been coding the editor tagetting on Windows.

By the way, would anyone rewrite or polish the label and/or the description of objects and sprites? With my poor vocabulary, I couldn't write off them and admittedly they're not well written. I'd appreciate it if someone would help.


I have no idea what caused this beauty, but moving a few things around in the affected level and saving seems to fix it...

I could help rewrite the descriptions if you want.

Cannot be done with GE, as well as Midring-editing is not possible with GE, yet. Use those tools to get that job done. The ZIP includes both appications in a bundle. Credit goes to Romi for coding them.

Did any of the things I told you in the other thread work?

It'd most likely be because of a bad ROM dump.Free counters!

Add a header to the ROM and you're good to go. Seriously, how dumb is that question?

I should of know that
I have been having quite a bit of trouble with this so far!! Anyway, when ever I press the level icon on the map, it goes to the black screen and shows the level name, but then it freezes? it doesn't go to the required level Yoshi just stands there blinking or turning his head continually, what has happend??

I had that problem too xxxzzz1, if two certain objects overlap then that will happen, or so I believe, I fixed it by making no objects not overlap.

Quick question, what is the tileset for the koopas?
