Description: So after seeing Super Demo World as well as many other hacks. I decided that I wanted to include my own. This hack was meant to feel like an older hack. Instead of relying on custom graphics and ASM, it goes for fun level design.

It is a purely vanilla hack, however it has custom music, and I had to do some hex editing.

This is an update to my hack, since the previous version messed up at one of the bosses. Sorry, I got in a hurry.

My Short Review:
The hack was pretty good, it was a nice vanilla hack with nice level design and custom music, (thank god) though the hack had A LOT of errors.

Reasons:


Error: Wrong corner tile here. Though that's rather the games fault since the corner is actually part of the mushroom platform.
Fix this by: Putting a block (preferably a cement block) where the corner tile is so it won't look cut-off. It'll look weird with the cement block but it won't be a removal reason. ;)


Error: Same deal as above but the water gets cut-off at a certain amount of frames because of the corner tile.

Error: The pipe gets cut-off because of the cement blocks. I know that SMW did it but cut-off is cut-off.
Fix this by: Try putting the bottom of a pipe end. (You know the pipe that has 2 ends? Yea, try doing that)


Error: The bottom of the higher cliffs get cut-off at the bottom because it ends right at the corner of the lower ledge.
Fix this by: Make it not end at the corner but instead make it end at the ground.


Error: There's a tile right here and it makes it look like I'm standing in mid-air.
Fix this by: Do not put tiles in the very bottom row of Lunar Magic as tiles won't appear in game.


Error: Mario can go under the diagonal pipe. This was why they were blocked off in SMW.
Fix this by: Block off the bottom of the diagonal pipe so the player can't go under it.


Error: Same grammar error here.
Fix this by: "it is now you see the blocks" should be "you can now see the outline turn solid" Something like that.


Error: I'm not too fond with the palette here, it looks kinda bad IMO.
Fix this by: Changing the palette


Error: The tree closest to Mario gets cut-off at the bottom because it ends at the corner of a ledge.
Fix this by: Either take out that branch or make it not end at a corner.


Error: The ground above Mario is cut-off because of the cement blocks.
Fix this by: Use a different tile so it won't look cut-off.


Error: Since there were a lot of wigglers in this area, if I do it right I can do the SMW glitch where your score and coins goes up dramatically and I can't get infinite 1-Ups because of this and glitched graphics start occuring.
Fix this by: Use a different enemy in this room.


Error: Not really a removal reason, but after coming out of that wiggler room I end up here and there's and the auto scroll still goes on, what's the point in it when the ends right here?
Fix this by: Like I said, it's not really a removal reason, it's just something that seemed pointless to do at the end.


Error: Because of the layer 3 tide, it looks like I can swim in the ground and it looks weird.
Fix this by: Either make the end a solid end or in Lunar Magic click on the Mario head and check the box that says "Force Layer 3 above all other layers and sprites"


Error: Major slowdown here.
Fix this by: Take out some sprites.


Error: Corner tile problem again.
Fix this by: Refer to the 1st error I mentioned.


Error: If the yellow switch isn't activated, I have to spin jump off the grinder to get to the next area and having to spin jump off things to get to a certain place isn't good especially in world 1.
Fix this by: Replacing the switch blocks with cement blocks.


Error: If a sprite were to fall in the lava, glitched lava parts occur.
Fix this by: Using the right graphics. They're the tiles left of the thwomp face.


Error: Blind jump here.
Fix this by: Put coins to lead the way to the ground.


Error: Just like the error before the last one.
Fix this by: Refer to the error before the last one.


Error: The left pole of the midway post and the pipes have bad palettes.
Fix this by: Fixing the palette.


Error: The left side of the goal post has a bad palette.

Error: The outer color of the pond tile does not match up with the ground.
Fix this by: Fix the color around it so it has the same color as the ground.


Error: I really don't think people are gonna remember this. It's rather a long sequence and it's kinda complex.
Fix this by: Make it shorter or just make it so you just hit the switch as you go along instead of having to hit it at a certain time.


Error: Getting this moon is rather easy especially if you have a cape.
Fix this by: Make getting the moon harder or take it out.


Error: The background and foreground palette looks rather bad.
Fix this by: Changing the palette.


Error: Stacked bullet bill cannons create a bit off cut-off
Fix this by: Put a cement block at the ends of the cannon so it doesn't look cut-off.


Error: Bullet bill cannons shouldn't float.
Fix this by: Put a cement block below it.


Error: A lot of slowdown here.
Fix this by: Take out some sprites.


Error: Having to koopa jump this early in the game is not a great idea.
Fix this by: Making it so you don't have to koopa jump to advance.


Error: Again with the lava parts, use the right tile.
Fix this by: Use the correct graphics.


Error: The FG palette looks bad.
Fix this by: Change the palette.


Error: The outlines of the pipe have a bad palette.
Fix this by: Fix the palette.

Error B: The ends of the lava get cut-off because of the cement blocks.
Fix this by: Take out the cement blocks and put some other tile that won't make it look cut-off.


Error: The water is cut-off because of the pipe.
Fix this by: Take out the pipe.


Error: This area looks like a blatant edit of sublevel C2.
Fix this by: Don't base levels off the original SMW levels, they're not allowed.


Error: Grammar error here.
Fix this by: Refer to the other switch palace error.


Error: If I touch the lava I don't die nor get hurt.
Fix this by: Make it so it kills you.


Error: I understand we're in lava world, but the spiny is glitched and glitched graphics are a no.
Fix this by: Take the spinys out or put a message box saying that the red "buzzy beetles" hurt if you touch them.


Error: Blind jump here.
Fix this by: Put coins to lead the way.


Error: This is why Blargg's were placed on straight lava in SMW, they look cut-off if they jump off from diagonal lava.
Fix this by: Take out the blargg's on the diagonal lava.


Error: And this is why bats are place on ceilings, if they're placed randomly in mid-air like that, it looks weird and cut-off.
Fix this by: Move the bats to the ceiling.


Error: The goal post is cut-off because it ends on the corner.
Fix this by: Move the goal post.


Error A: I understand the trick here but still, don't use the bottom row of Lunar Magic.

Error B: The ends of the ground is cut-off because of the cement blocks.
Fix this by: Use some other tile other than the cement block to cover up the ends of the ledge.


Error: Like I mentioned before, don't stack bullet bill cannons.
Fix this by: Put a cement block under the cannons.


Error: The bottom of the vine is cut-off.
Fix this by: Just make the vine extend all the way to the bottom. (Without out the vine tile touching the bottom row of Lunar Magic of course.


Error: Bad grammar error here. I'm aware it's on purpose, but still.
Fix this by: Use proper grammar.


Error: When I enter this pipe it leads to some sort of endless bonus room. I can't reach the blocks without Yoshi, though even if I have him the blocks won't do anything when I hit them from below. So I am stuck here unless I wait for the time to run out or if I rewind.
Fix this by: I assume the pipe lead to the wrong room, if so fix it. Or unless it didn't lead to the wrong room and it was actually a trap, if it was, DON'T DO TRAPS as they are not cool.


Error: The pipe creates cut-off to the ground.
Fix this by: Fix the cut-off by putting corner ends for the ledge.


Error: If I fall down here, I can't get up unless I jump off an enemy.
Fix this by: Put a block so Mario can get back up if he falls.


Error: The cheep cheep gets stuck in the ground.
Fix this by: Move the cheep cheep so it doesn't get stuck.


Error: The water is cut-off because of the cement blocks.
Fix this by: Use a different tile so the water won't be cut-off.


Error: Why do I die instantly when I touch the bottom of the screen? I can understand if you're trying to block off from going under but if you are don't make it so I instantly die.
Fix this by: Make whatever tile is under act like a muncher.

Also, moonsong does not fit in with the level theme AT ALL.


Comment: Though I would count this as a removal reason, I'm not. I just wanna say a very clever idea for doing that. : D


Error: The jump to the net right here is rather hard to do.
Fix this by: Make it easier to get to the net without bullet bill jumping.


Error: Don't use the bottom row of Lunar Magic as things won't appear in-game.

Error: Being forced to die for not hitting the right switch is not cool.
Fix this by: By not having the player die when hitting the right switch.


Error: Having to think fast or else you die is not cool.
Fix this by: Use coins to lead the way (specifically after the line platform thing) since the line guided thing practically ends out of nowhere and you have to think fast or you die.


Error: Chucks rock has a bad palette.
Fix this by: Fix the palette.


Error: That chuck disappears because of the wrong sprite header and the rotating platform sprite.
Fix this by: Use sprite header 0E.

Fix this by: Don't have the player koopa jump early in the game, we're only in world 3. If you gonna do that, at least do it in world 5. (Depending on how many worlds your hack has, but knowing there's 96 levels world 5 would be the best)


Error: The FG has a bad palette.
Fix this by: Fix the palette.


Error: Blind jump. And the palette here is really bright.
Fix this by: Use coins to lead the way. Change the palette (specifically the FG palette) so it isn't too bright.


Error: Water is cut-off because of the cement blocks.
Fix this by: I'm pretty sure you know what to do by now.


Error: That fish can get glitched into the layer 2 ground.
Fix this by: Move the fish or take him out.


Error: Grammar error.
Fix this by: Refer to the other switch palace errors.


Error: The scrolling here is a bit too fast to get the feathers. And if you you're small and you hit both boxes at once, you can't get the feather and you have to die.
Fix this by: Use sprite 77 so you don't have to worry about the scolling and having to die.


Error: The BG palette looks rather bad.
Fix this by: Fix the palette.


Error: "Red buzzy beetles" are a no.
Fix this by: The spiny's are glitched and glitched graphics aren't allowed. Unless you have a message box saying that you can't step on the "red buzzy beetles" then take them out.

Error: Bottom of the vine is cut-off.
Fix this by: Like seriously, I don't know why you didn't make it connect it to the ground but you make it float one tile above the ground.


Error: Spelling error.
Fix this by: "breech" should actually be "breach"


Error: The top part of the FG has a bad palette.
Fix this by: Fix the palette.


Error: The BG palette is really bright that it hurts.
Fix this by: Darken the palette.


Error: Glitched spiny's again.
Fix this by: Refer to the previous error about the buzzy beetle.


Error: Give an idication that you have to fly here.
Fix this by: Refer above.


Error A: I can through the block by the bottom.
Fix this by: The tile has to be acting like tile 1AA, make it act like the diagonal pipe.

Error B: Midway point is on the corner or the ledge and cement block causing cut-off below it. (And the corner that the left side of the midway point lies, it has the wrong corner tile.
Fix this by: Make it end on a solid surface.


Error A: I can go under the pipe.
Fix this by: Block from going under the pipe.

Error B: Right below the diagonal pipe, there is cut-off because part of the ledge is missing.
Fix this by: Put the ledge tile where the cut-off is.


Error: It doesn't make sense how we were in a chocolate area but now we're in a ice area.
Fix this by: Make the level theme the same instead of it randomly transitioning to another.


Error: The ends of the ground are cut-off.
Fix this by: There's a tile to solve the cut-off, use tile 42 & 43 to solve the problem.


Error: FG has a bad palette
Fix this by: Fix the palette.


Error: The falling spiny has glitched graphics.
Fix this by: Take out the falling spiny sprite since there's buzzy beetles in the area.


Error: The cement blocks create cut-off on Yoshi's tree.
Fix this by: Use some other tile instead of cement blocks or take them out.


Error: The cement blocks have a bad palette.
Fix this by: Fix the palette.


Error: The top and bottom of the vines are cut-off. The top is cut-off because it is not fully hanging from the tree correctly. The bottom is cut-off because SMW never made a tile for the cut-off.
Fix this by: Try to find a tile that won't create cut-off to the vine.


Error: Bats hanging in mid-air.
Fix this by: Make them cling on to a roof.


Error: The corner tiles have a bad corner tile.
Fix this by: You might've had the corner ledges tile overlap on the main ledge tile and it'll make it have a bad corner tile. If that's not the case then use tile 101 & 103 in the Map16 to solve it.


Error: Pipe creates cut-off in the water.
Fix this by: Use some other tile to end the water. (Not cement blocks. D:)


Error: Bullet bills that create no sound isn't allowed apparently.
Fix this by: Yea, I never understood why it's not allowed but meh. There's a patch for it so they make a sound, but considering this hack is vanillia you have to take them out apparently. Sorry. : (


Error: Block off the bottom of the diagonal pipe.
Fix this by: You should know what to do by now.


Error: The ropes get cut-off because of the pipes.
Fix this by: Use some other tile to block the ends of the rope. (I think the cement blocks will work for this one.)


Error: The end of the fire rock BG thing is cut-off.
Fix this by: That's practically why those BG's where used as a "full background in SMW" because they didn't create a end tile for it. D: Try to see if you can find a tile for it so it doesn't look cut-off, if you can't, I'll let it slide.

I stopped playing here because I had 101 screenshots, and I'm only at the beginning of world 6.

Conclusion:
This hack really needs improving, while the level design is good it just has too many errors. So fix the errors mentioned and the errors in world 6 and higher (since I didn't get to those levels and they probably have the same type of error) and we'll see if this gets accepted.
