Hey everybody, I'm sure none of you know who I am, but I have been working on a hack called Super Mario World: The Next Generation.
Here's the story:
A thousand years after Mario, Princess Toadstool, and Bowser had passed away, young Zach was sleeping in a field, when Princess Rosa screamed, Zach awoke and saw Bowserk flying way with Rosa and a bunch of Yoshi eggs in his Clown Car 2.0. Zach got up packed his stuff and ran off after him.

Here are some screenshots.

This blocks palette doesn't look too good.
Yeah I know but I'll change those in a second.
Overworld criticism:

Is that a submap? If so, how do you get to the switch?
You should probably learn how to reveal level tiles in the events.
The waterfall looks kinda weird; add a top to it.
There is cutoff near the castle and near those hills.
Don't spam small hills near the ghost house.

Level criticism:

The ground palette looks uck. Change it.
The yellow munchers look weird. Maybe it's just me.

-Overall-
I don't think there's enough screenshots to show-off just yet.
Show us a second level or something!

Hey, since you're not using a Mario-related character, you may be interested in changing the player GFX. Maybe you could try this, but it depends on what you want. There are tons in the Graphics section, as well.

1-1=Goomba Hills 1

YAY, new character sprite! Credits to the guy who made the base I used!

Zach running up a hill (anyone like the ground's palette?)

Meh. Nothing new.

1-4=Waterfalls

First water level and introducing YOSHI!
Goomba Hills submap:

Took the advice some guys told me, and fixed the overworld.

Also in this hack I have put 2 patches in it.

Not bad, but the pallete of the underwater level made my eyes bleed :(

It's ok to embed videos in your own thread...

Also I would like to say you have an odd choice in ground palettes were the colors don't really blend together all that well I would work a bit more on that.

Other things I have noticed is that chracter seems kind of flat with most of the colors being very similar in brightnes maybe darken/lighten some of the to give more detail.

New GFX for the powerups and blocks.

Anyways, I am trying to find a good looking complete grassland ExGFX Tileset, yet the ones in the Graphics section do not look good IMO,
so can anyone make a good on for me?
why is he standing on a rail extending in the middle of a brown square (I can only imagine that he's at the bottom of a porta-potty.)

1. He's standing on the rail because I couldn't find a good ground for a house

2. The background is brown because it is a brown wall.

Textures. They are everything.
I can make pretty good GFX, so if you need some help with that, then PM me. (also, an example: YAY for advertising!)

also, as a side note, you should remove that header. I confused it with your actual post.

I donĀ“t think the colors are bad, since they fit with the goombas
and stuff. And maybe you could use some soft blue colors in the BG.
I just think the level is too easy, so you coould use
some other enemyes to [surprise] atack the player.
