Using Ladida's Peach Graphics, I have decided to make a hack using Peach as the protagonist.
The story so far...
Daisy visits the Mushroom Kingdom, only to find an unknown magical power that is turning everything very hectic. Suddenly, Mario had disappeared and so had Luigi, leaving Peach to find out what's what.
Umh, from what you show us I can't tell much about it. But the OW looks ok, but has tons o' errors. First of all, the higest bridge doesn't connect to well to the ground. Second, you realy need to add lines on cliffs. And third, the left ground of one of the isles is cutoff.
I wish you luck ;)
About your overworld, I'll mark things that need to be improved/changed.
Red: Perspective errors. Make sure the cliff has always the same height throughout the land.
Blue: It would be nicer if you added lines here.
Yellow: Cutoff. On the upper bridge, don't use these tiles. Do the same as you did on the lower bridge. About the other one, remove these tiles and replace them with the similar tiles that don't cause cutoffness.
About the level, it seems very bland. I recommend you to use another background, instead of just clouds, and replace the rope tiles with ground tiles. But don't just put ground there! Add some slopes and bushes, for example, to make your level more interesting!
Ahhh okay your overworld looks much better now. Anyway do you start on the hill? Also some people think that custom graphics are better than ones from other games, but yeah your level looks pretty bland for right now I think you should add some stuff like bushes, slopes, etc, to make it a lot better.
Your hack looks pretty good right now, please send me the demo when you're done, so I can play test it.
If only there was a way to take screenshots of the whole level...?
You can do that in Lunar Magic. Go to File -> Levels -> Export to Bitmap File...
Give it a name and save it wherever you like. BMP files can be rather big though. So if you open it in MS Paint you can save it as PNG to reduce the size. When you do post the image REMEMBER to post it as a URL otherwise the image will stretch the page.
The OW looks good, however you may want to lower Peach's starting position so her head is visible.
About the level, don't just use cement blocks everywhere. Make use of the land tiles. The Pipes in the second room are cutoff where they meet the brown blocks. Also, use other tiles than just brown blocks everywhere.
Looks quite good, but some of the screenshots in the first post...are they supposed to look that dark? If not, I think they'd look better at normal game brightness level. Also, the overworld looks improved in the last shown screenshot of it.
