In YY-CHR? I don't see any VRAM option.
2014-05-18 09:35:03 PM
there is none.
i mean scroll down until you see graphics, which will be the graphics that are loaded into vram at the point in the game you savestated
you did directly open the savestate with yychr, and not import it as a palette, correct?

The area that I can scroll down is huge. What part is my background's tileset? How am I supposed to know that?
2014-05-18 09:47:10 PM
varies per savestate format
shouldnt be that big either, idk what youre complaining about x_x

I'm using a background from YI.
(If it matters, I made the savestate with ZMZ)

scroll until you see graphics
since youre looking for L3 gfx, go into 2bpp mode

I got the tilemap and all and put the part I needed into a 2KB ExGFX file, patched stim.asm then the layer 3 patch, but after trying to start a new file or continuing an old one, the game goes to a black screen.

try changing the compression method in lunar magic

Just tried it and the game still froze when choosing a file.

Why wouldn't you use
of doing it manually, anyway?
I've been using it myself for my hack and it works like a charm.

I tried using it and barely understood any of it. This method that Kipernal is describing is much easier for me to understand, but like I said, it doesn't seem to work for me.

I haven't tried this, but it looks simple. Going to test it out and see how it goes~
e: Stim.asm gives me a fuckton of messages, and where am I supposed the ExGFX in the Layer 3 ExGFX patch because there are 4 parts: GFX29, 28, 2A and 2B.

Look them into YYCHR. If there is a GFX file which is different from the original, then insert it as ExGFX (i.e. rename it into ExGFXxx) and set the GFX number in Layer3ExGFX.

It doesn't fill like it's supposed to what am I doing wrong? If I repeat the back it's going to look like crap

Looks to me like the image is simply way too small to be used as a background (well, without massive resizing, but that would probably look terrible). You can't pick a tiny image and expect it to fill up the entire space.
