I believe it was in 2008 that the user Buu originally coined an idea for a collaboration hack. Granted, the forum itself didn't come into play until 2009, but nobody seemed to take it seriously. I recall something I said at one point: "I don't believe SMWCP is going to go anywhere. Hacks like this always fail". Seeing that a community like Raocow's Talkhaus could finish a hack like ASMT, I felt it would be pretty weird if the hub of SMW hacking itself couldn't do something like this. Nonetheless, from March until about ten minutes ago, over 200 users have worked hard to bring you:

An SMW Central Production

It has been a long and difficult (and frustrating!) road, but at last, it's here. The release I have put up on the site is Version 1.5, and it will work on all emulators EXCEPT ZSNES 1.42. The particular version in the ZIP will also not work on BSNES, but don't fear! I have a separate IPS for BSNES that I will be putting up tomorrow, so if you are an accuracy nut, you'll have to wait another 12 - 24 hours.

I would like to thank each and every one of you who participated in this hack in some way. Having tested this hack several, several times, I am not only impressed with the sheer quality of the design, but I am also impressed with how you all managed to work as a team to pull through. From the levels, to the bosses, to the graphics, to the overworld, to everything - it's all here. I would also like to thank my beta testers, of which nearly all of them brought bugs to me. Of course, despite all this, I'm sure there are still minor oddities here and there (and if you do find any - drop me a PM! I'd like to hear about them).

Enjoy. As a community, you've all earned it.

Well, this is quite the New Years gift, although, most people don't get gifts on New Years.
Finally, it's here! Now i'll do a savestateless run through the whole thing... fml

Anyway, it has been an honor to take part in this huge hack, which might be the greatest thing to happen to the SMW community in a long while. We'll see for ourself when we download this hack, won't we? :D

My vote goes towards called the next collab "The Next SMWC Production" or "Another SMWC Production"
Having been around since the hack first started, it's been a wild ride seeing it start up, falter, then rise from the ashes thanks in large part to the leadership displayed by S.N.N. Thanks to him, FirePhoenix, Riolu180, and countless, countless others, it's incredible to see this finally done and available to play. It's not a perfect hack by any means, but it's incredibly varied, interesting, and flat-out fun to play on the whole. Superb job, guys.

As for a sequel, it'd probably be best to give everyone a break and a wait for player feedback before we seriously consider it.

Bawwww, I can't play it for several days. Oh well.

I made 2 levels for this, but then I left SMW Central at the time. Sad I couldn't participate because of this. Oh well.

I hope it's fun, it's looked pretty fun. So yay.

I've already discovered three glitches:

1. In Deep Dark Drains (the first sewer level) the cheep-cheeps have an odd black stripe on them. This may not be a glitch, but it seems like it should have been light blue or something.

2. In Treacherous Tower the "You must have 5 Yoshi Coins to Pass" blocks haven't had their graphics updated for the new Yoshi coins.

3. The glitched BG GN just posted.

Other than that, great work, everyone! I'm glad to see this finished!
I should get a new layout.

Thanks for that catch - E-Man also PM'ed it to me. Thankfully it wasn't a big one, and must have been caused in the last minute patching. The ZIP has been updated.

Oh, one other glitch in addition to the ones I just posted: the new level transition doesn't work correctly in levels with layer 3 backgrounds; the level fades to the background, as it were, instead of fading to black.
I should get a new layout.

Probably won't, though.
Mario's skid smoke under small bushes. Only played the first level so far.
