Hack Suggestion: Mario is Missing based SMW

I don't know if this has been done, but I'd love to see a version of Mario is Missing in the Super Mario World format.

It would be like a Super Mario World, but on the real Earth, with each stage being a real country/city/region; the story along the lines of Bowser and the koopas invading the real world, and everyone counting on Mario for salvation. I think that would make a very cool hack.

Sure, Mario is Missing was lousy, but there are some nice stage graphics and background in it, and a world map to boot. I'm sure some of its material could be used for a game like that.

So, is there a hack like that somewhere for download? If not, what do you think of this idea?
I like the idea, It would have to be vanilla based to be like a SMW version of it but yeah. Id love to see something like this.
This would be really cool. Mario is missing was a interesting game.

Current Projects:
Project Mysterium (codename title) - Which is going to be a game series and universe that spans multiple game engines and may have a spinoff place as a romhack as well. The first game itself is a RPGMV project.
Maybe you can make a OW of the whole real World. And the Koopalings are in Towers(Taiwan 101,Colloseum,Tower of Pisa). And maybe he can start in Brooklyn^^.
Surely it must be possible because Super Mario World has a-lot of the same graphics for Mario is missing on NES.
I didn't really like the game but I would like to see an SMW remake of mario is missing but how would you make the levels if you can't go upwards on the roads?

You could make the roads act like the door tiles. 20 I think.
Mario is Missing is one of those games that had the potential to be great, but was ruined. In this case, it's because the dev team wanted to make it educational. Were it a platformer, as this hack would be, it could've been great.

this version would be better....
Some problems:
OW? it isn't big enough to fit the whole thing in...unless you use some places in submaps, you would have to have probably the exact same pallets for all of them.

Yoshi:
He was sort of walking around the earth in the original and then you ride him when you select the level but how would you do that in the smw version?

Also: the roads being doors is ok but, it doesn't seem right but ok to use, Definatly change the SFX.

Thinking about if people wanted a vanilla-ish version of Mario is Missing then it should be easy, the creator could use famous places in the mushroom world were mario could be, such as subcon, sarasland or even a little part of dinosaur land.
you could make it non-educational (well it wouldn't anyway)
and have a few submaps, Bowsers' castle in Antarctica on valley of bowser and so one.
just a thought.

Well, in my head this is perhaps too faithful to the original. I was thinking more of a hack with the mechanics of SMW, a platformer really, with inspiration drawn from Mario is Missing, meaning OW [earth-like but SMW mechanics], backgrounds in each area, etc. IMO it could be a Mario/Luigi travels the world, Koopas invade Earth, or something; the plot doesn't need to be the same as Mario is Missing.

I think linear stages much like SMW, with some regional flavor to background/graphics (Jungles in the Amazon, a city in the background in paris) would be elegant. TBH what gave me this idea was that Mario in Japan hack. It made me want to travel the world. Mario is Missing was a kickstart for my following chain of thoughts, and should not imho restrict mechanics or creative freedom like in the original Mario is Missing.
It would be a good idea.

We could also take some inspiration form the AoSMB3 episode "7 Continents for 7 Koopas", which had a similar "Koopas invade the real world" plot.
