I mean, you don't even have to include the patch, but just.. let LM properly render and edit NGHE level data if it's in there.
(It's kind of a too big patch to just autoinclude in there, we'd be swimming in hacks making use of it just for the sake of it and calling it vanilla (probably not even a concern of yours, but I thought it's worth mentioning))

Also thanks for reconsidering the scrolling, you have no idea how much I curse Golden Egg for not even allowing vertical scrolling with the mousewheel.

Actually this is probably my biggest request because it does a lot to smw hacking.

With the custom level size, you could make levels that are nothing like any of the current levels that you can make with LM. It opens up whole new doors for level design.

I would think that the best way to implement this would be to just have a little tab at the edge of the level in lunar magic on the level area and you just click this tab and hold it and stretch out your level to the correct size that you want it just like resizing a window on your computer.

So you can just resize you level on the fly. Need it a little bit bigger here or there, no problem!

And could also be a table size option so if you didnt want to make the size by using the tab you could just type it in just like you can make a table in Microsoft Word.

Lets say that I want a level to be 3 screens wide by 6 screens long, then I go into the custom level size option and click [3 rows by 6 columns] and presto you got a custom level size. And if you needed it to be a tad bit longer just click on the tab and drag it the distance of 1 more screen and like magic you have a level that is 3 X 7 in screen size!!!

Freaking awesome!

Why limit yourself to a number of screens? NGHE works fine with any number of tiles you want. Even the screenshot you posted is about eight and a half screen high (135 tiles, or the height of five horizontal levels).

That would be really awesome if that was implemented into a future version of LM or at least LM supporting it in some way. It would open up so many new possibilities for level design, and I'd love to be able to make levels with different dimensions than what SMW has by default.

Also, as a minor suggestion that I thought of off the top of my head, you know how the pitchin' chucks change the number of baseballs they throw before they pause for a sec based on their X position? Well, maybe LM could slightly change the appearance of the pitchin' chucks to show how many baseballs they'll throw at a time without having to hover the mouse over them to check the tooltip. It's not a very important change, but it would make sense to make their appearance change like the other sprites that do different things based on their X position, such as the P-switches and the exploding turn block.

I don't get why someone can't make another, special editor for NGHE. This past C3 someone showed off an SMW level rendering tool that someone could probably base it off of.
Because we already have Lunar Magic.
This seems to be a good idea if only for having at least one feature besides multi-platform "support" which LM does not have. I will take a look at it then I come around working further on it. Sadly this won't be any time soon. I also have no idea if this could fit my current approach, so it might be not very feasible.

(For those who don't know, the mentioned C3 project was mine, shameless self advertisement).

Custom Level Size by Fosoya

So I finally convinced Fosoya about implementing this and he gave me a special version of Lunar Magic to test it out before the public release.

Go to Level Options and select Custom Level Size

Then enter the size of the level by the number of tiles. How tall and how wide.

The min size the the size of a normal single screen and there will be a max size too.

There are even tabs on the level boarder just like in Microsoft Paint where you can click on them and drag out your level for on the fly size changes.

He let me test this version out because me and him are awesome friends and I'm sure once hes worked out all of the bugs there will be a public release.
Nice try, but GFX Index In Header is missing from the first image.

The last image also is inaccurate with resizing. If level resizing was even possible, it certainly wouldn't be able to change the level size the way shown. That is clearly not aligned with the 16x16 throw block in the bottom left.

And if you were really buddies, you would at least spell FuSoYa right.
Fosoya? Is that FuSoYa's twin brother or something? Huh, I didn't realize he had a twin. And he does tool programming for SMW too and even has access to his more famous brother's source code? Interesting. This Fosoya does seem to have a different preference for fonts, though, as well as a less firm command over English grammar. Do you think FuSoYa would mind the fact that the "height" and "width" boxes don't have the same capitalization? That's pretty cool that you two are such good friends, though, good enough even for you to test his betas. I wonder why Fosoya hasn't registered here yet? They probably live together, so maybe it's because of the whole IP conflict thing? Kieran really should fix that eventually...

Fascinating new development, though. And here I was thinking these screenshots were all thrown together in an image editor and you were just 71 days early posting them.

I'm working on a hack! Check it out here.

You misspelled FuSoYa, that's already suspicious.

That's because you made it in Microsoft Paint.

Do you really think you can get away with such trickery? You are SO gonna get sued.

It seems Fosoya replaced GFX Index In Header with Custom Level Size.

It seems that the option would fit better in the area where things like editing actual level-impacting things (i.e. vertical/horizontal level modes, layer 3 settings, etc.) and not in the area where GFX-related options are kept, too.

Must be what Fosoya is doing now that FuSoYa handed the LM source code over to him; putting options in un-matching fonts in un-matching sections.

You dare question Fosoya???

Fosoya is only human and make mistakes he will now reprogram LM to fix these errors in the code.

Stay tuned for the official release.
I can only imagine what FuSoYa will say when he sees what happened here.
Does FuSoYa know you "leaked" one of the upcoming features of his project? He's always seemed rather secretive until release about amazing features like this - usually only bugfixes are specified to be coming in next releases - so I don't know if he'd appreciate you revealing it to the general public especially in what appears to be a prototype state.

You could use a screen recorder like HyperCam or Camtasia to show off the new feature and upload a video to YouTube as unlisted, or just wait for FuSoYa to confirm or deny it being real. If a screen recorder won't work on your PC, you could always record a video with a video camera, since I can see you've done such before.

Fosoya just e-mailed me the new update. Here are his words.

Fosoya: - After many months in development I finally have completed my most greatest addition to my Lunar Magic program.

If you click on the Custom Level Size button (which is in the form of a resize mouse cursor) it will open up a window in which you can resize the level.

I hope nobody here ever doubted my programming skills here. I will release it on my personal website in shortly once I've finished writing some additional coding.

You actually look ridiculous right now.

edit: FooSohYeah just emailed me. He confirmed he did not work on anything relating to this.
