I'm not really saying text updates are FILTHY LIES, and one week does seem a tad harsh, but I'm just throwing an idea out there. Whether it be one week or one month, users should still be told to update.
I'll be using my own judgment. It should be obvious who is doing work and who isn't (as in, monitoring their online status, etc). If someone, like, claimed a level and then goes inactive forever, then obviously I'll pass the level to someone else. But as of now .. no, I'm not forcing updates on people.

I will, however, likely still set a deadline, but this won't happen for at least a few weeks. I really want to give people time to work themselves into the project.
Quick question: are the SMWC coins going to be objects or sprites?
I should get a new layout.

Probably won't, though.
Custom objects, according to Sind.
Just remembered something: please make sure that all custom blocks used have proper corner offsets. There are few things more annoying than dying because you fell through the corner of a block that was supposed to be solid.

EDIT: Oh, and we are using a fixed version of the horizontal Thwomps, right? It always bothers me how the ones included with Spritetool neither shakes the ground nor makes a sound effect when they hit a wall.

Has anyone gotten layer 3 backgrounds to work on this ROM? It looks like when p4plus2 got rid of the status bar he also destroyed the stripe image upload routine (or at least the part that stim.asm relies on), and genericuploader.asm seems to be having issues as well.

Or maybe it's just me.

His status bar did .. a lot of things, honestly. It even clashes with some patches in the ROM, so I am going to transfer everything over to a new ROM to try and find the source of error (as well as fixing the music).

On a related note, sorry for the lack of updates on the base ROM. I probably picked the worst weekend possible to begin level signups on. I'll try and have a major update up tomorrow which will add everything that has been requested up to this point.

Thanks guys.
I wish you luck S.N.N.

Anyone know if HDMA or multi-scrolling tables will be present?
Of course you can use HDMA and multi-scroll.

Your layout has been removed.
We have levelASM applied to the ROM. If you plan on doing anything like that, just send me the code and I'll insert it.
So I was testing one of the levels that somebody made, and I noticed a major glitch for the sprite used for the endng of the level (changes to all kinds of items and getting it completes the level).

If you hit that sprite with a shell, it turns all glitchy looking and it goes away and you cannot exit.
If you hit it at the same time you get it, the same thing happens except the "complete a level" music plays. And when you die, the death music sounds messed up.
When you enter a pipe/door, everything goes back to normal and the sprite appears.

Is there any way this problem can be fixed? :)
Yes. It can be fixed by downloading the newest base ROM (or the one I put up tomorrow).
Please note that I won't be fixing problems like "You can fall in a pit or enter a pipe after grabbing it". I trust the level designers to have the common sense not to put pipes or pits near the goal. I will fix actual glithes like the problem with the star.
So, good news. I've found the cause of the music crash, and that should be completely fixed now. At the same time, it looks like p4plus2's status bar is clashing with Layer 3 ExGFX, as previous stated. I've spoken to him, and he'll be fixing this up soon.

Other than that, I think the ROM should be mostly bug-free on the technical side of things now. I'm going to add the resources people requested and throw up a new base ROM in a while.

sigh of relief goes here.
I dunno if this has already been mention, but after updating to the new rom, I found the Status bar goes behind layer 1. Due to the types of decorations I'm adding, this is an issue.

Your layout has been removed.
Yeah, it's been mentioned. Don't really concern yourself with the status bar for now - it's continually being updated as the hack goes along.
Atma posted something about a second round of signups in the Level waiting list thread. I would like some explaining here. (I haven't been following much, I was on vacation.)

Why don't I say that one number? I don't have time for him!

Extras

I should have something witty to put here (even if it's just to update dated info), shouldn't I?

From what I gathers.

- Authors that don't inform other of periodic updates will lose their level after some time (at least a couple months from now). User activity will be monitored to help out.
- Authors may resign from their level, opening it up freely.
- Perhaps more rarely, someone who has done nothing but waste time/resources and post levels that are so mind-numbingly bad and there's no hope for them will lose their level.

Okay. I was a bit confuzzled there. Thanks!

Just some additional question to the "updates"

I have made some screens already, however, they're not finished...that means I can't update now.

But I can't see any deadline, or does we get informed by S.N.N, before we aren't allowed to make the level? And a "couple of months" doesn't explain very well when we have to present updates ^^
