Aww, Eh,it could be used as a special boss or somthing,
Maybe for a special edition of this! Including stuff that wasnt finished in time for the first release, and the 2nt release could be the special edition! :D

I should have something witty to put here (even if it's just to update dated info), shouldn't I?

In which case, it would be better off as its own thing as opposed to Special Editions of such and such. You can't always stick with working on one hack/game/ep/etc. forever, ya'know.

Im sure you guys are just about ready to be done, besides,it was just a idea.
So unfortunately, I will not finish my little side project of transferring some globally and regularly used ExGFX to empty GFX slots. I thought I could do it, but it's just too much for me to change every level that uses a certain exgfx to the gfx. So yeah. Unless someone wants to do it themselves...
You know, after watching this video, I'm wondering whether it'd be a good idea to send James Rolfe (AVGN) a physical cartridge copy of SMWCP2 when it's complete? If he decides to make a video of it, we could potentially reach a lot of viewers, far beyond what we can achieve with trailers alone.

Speaking of which, I wonder if he's even seen the trailer.

How would we put this on a cartridge?
Thank you for making Outrageous Mario World the 11th most downloaded hack on the site!

Ham Sandwich progress: v1378 (Now with more arbitrary version numbering than ZGC!) Waiting to get around to working on it again.

I occasionally stream ROM hacks on Yoshi Lighthouse's Twitch account. Be sure to check it out!

There are people who make reproduction cartridges for a fee (/u/lordloss on Reddit comes to mind). Give them a ROM, some patience, and some money, and they can hook you up.
Around how much specifically?

More importantly, who's going to pay?

I'm sure that we could scrounge up the cash to make one physical copy.
I like this idea too, however...
how exactly can we make sure that AVGN plays this game? Does someone here knows him well?

And furthermore, how expensive would be such a cartridge? (And making a label on it would be neat too. Good thing we have great artists on this site)

Have about 50-60 people from here message him or something.

Lordloss charges $38.00 per repro.

Do you like getting 50-60 Private Messages on this board about the literaly same thing?

Are you sure? Because SMWCP2 is pretty huge for a SNES game (4MB compared to SMW 512 KB for example)...although I have to say I have no idea how repro cartridges works, so feel obviously free to correct me.

Of course not, but if 50-60 people send me a message and tell me to check out the same thing, I'm going to assume it's actually worth looking into. That's the same idea here.

From what I recall, he said the price would only increase for games which use enhancement chips (Yoshi's Island, Starfox, etc). SMW doesn't use any of these. I would have to send him a message and ask about the details.

..in fact, maybe I'll do that in the morning and see if he can shed some light on this. He's the expert, not me.
As much as I want to see the AVGN play it because it will make SMW hacking much more popular than it is right now, there might be an even greater influx of new users showing up here (ones that would come here from AVGN's gameplay of SMWCP2) and making bad romhacks to submit straight into the hack section. Well most of them anyway.

We may need more hack moderators for our own site if SMW hacking becomes a more popular scene, and I agree that this may the only way to make ourselves and our hobby more popular, which would be really nice considering we were more popular and interesting back then.

As for the cartridge, it is possible. I saw a cartridge of OnlineVideoSurfer's The New Mario World that was owned by the author so he could play his really hard romhack on a real SNES. That ROM couldn't have been a big file because it was only changed levels, but the SMWCP2 ROM is as big as it can get. Hell, stuff even had to be cut out so that everything could fit into a 4 MB file, from what I read. Of course, repeating what's already been said, make sure SMWCP2 works on all major emulators (what doesn't work on more accurate emulators may not work on a real SNES). I approve of the idea, regardless of what strange drawbacks may come from it.

EDIT: If you're finding it difficult to find the cash for one SMWCP2 cartridge, maybe you could offer more rewards to those who donate, though the idea sounds a little more business-like than what we have now.

Yeah, he's probably using the same EPROM anyways.

By the way, if someone makes cartridge art then I would definitely want to buy one myself. I could put it on my flashcart, but having a separate cartridge with art for it would be darn cool. And, from what I've seen, this is a pretty legitimate game so far.

And what did Lordloss say SNN?

And I would support cartridge art, too. I hope some artist here wants to make one <3
The cutscene for the third castle is driving me up the wall, so as a failed attempt at a cathartic activity, I made a program that'll make the creation of parallax background scrolling easier:

Download here and stuff.

Basic usage:

-Copy a screenshot in Lunar Magic of the background you want to animate (by opening up the background editor and pressing Alt+PrtScr. Don't manually crop it in an image editor or anything.)

-Paste the screenshot in the program by either pressing Ctrl+V or just clicking paste.

-Click on a point on the image to add a new "line" there, choose the speed at which everything below that line will move (see below for how the speed works), and click Add.

-To edit an existing speed, click on the speed to edit in the listbox to the right (the part of the background that you'll affect will be highlighted in red), change the speed, and click Change (similar process for the Remove button).

-Alternative to all the above: Just start clicking on stuff randomly and see what happens. I'm hoping it's not too hard to get the hang of. Hoping.

-If you paste a generated table into the text box and click the "Refresh scroll data from this text box" button, you can load the scroll information from the format the program outputs. Closest thing to a "save" and "load" feature for now, and we can use that to see the stuff other people come up with.

-The speed is divided by 16, and is relative to the foreground position. So 16 scrolls just as fast as the foreground, 32 scrolls half as fast, 8 scrolls twice as fast, etc. 256 is treated as "don't scroll at all".

When you're done, copy the output in the text box at the bottom and just hold onto it for now. If you do want to test it and don't mind mucking about in ASM, check out level 2's and level 12's ASM for how to get the output working. Note that for now, you need at least one "dummy" row at the bottom that won't actually work. Dunno why this is, but I really need a break from debugging for a bit, this is an extremely minor bug, I'm doubting most people are going to want to test it on the ROM right now anyway, and I'm pretty sure that those who do and are capable enough to get it to work won't mind adding an extra dummy entry in the table.

So...yeah. If you wanna play around and see if you can get any neat effects going, please be my guest. It's what the program was made for.

Also hooray for imgur crashing Firefox after I had typed this post. Woo~
I should get a new layout.

Probably won't, though.

How well does the parallax play with levels that have vertical scrolling enabled?

(btw Lady Kaguya talks too much)

This program is pretty fricken awesome. You and/or I should probably notify edit1754 of this also, he is currently in possession of the base rom with the intention of doing stuff like this for the backgrounds.
