What do you want to see in a town in this sequel?
I'd like to see an improved shop, with better things to purchase. And maybe some minigames for prizes.



Ideas:
-A museum, showing off power-ups, enemies, etc.
-An arcade. "ROMs" could be collected from the levels, and they could be used to activate different games.
One word (two words actually): More interactivity. It was cool that you could go there and see all the characters famous from SMW Central there, but overall it was pretty useless (except for the Item Shop). Have a message for each character or what not. Just make it a bit more interactive, it's suppose to be some kind of safe haven in the game.

As Lotica said (and already mentioned by me in another thread). A pub like in SMWCP1 except with more SMWC users would be great. However, each of them should have a message instead of just sitting in the background. Some of them should even give hints, like hints on secret exits or whatever. In fact... Instead of just having a pub we should either spread them all across the town or at least make an Inn (which is bigger than a pub). This would add interactivity to the town and would make it seem less empty.

I agree completely, a more interactive Toad Town would be great, however, we definitely need to ACTUALLY ADD SOME TOADS THIS TIME. If I recall correctly, they're weren't any Toads in the ASMWCP Toad Town, so why don't we add Toads in this one?

Also, we can add lots more SMWCentral Users to the town, but how about the only users are the ones that made levels, and or helped the overall hack drastically. (Graphics, bosses, etc.) Perhaps each user could give hints or clues to the levels they made, instead of just secrets in general (which I think is what RPG Hacker meant, but I could be wrong...)

A mini-game house also sounds like a fairly good idea. Perhaps we could do a type of "defeat all the enemies within ___ seconds" type of challenge...

I want an arcade

A toad town arcade driven by the InterChets long lost cousin or something
a place somwhere in the town where you can listen to de level music you get. and how do you get songs? like in super princes peach: a object (or sprite) in each level wich uses a new song , and if you get the object , you unlock the respective song

If we're sticking with the industrial theme, perhaps there could be some sort of main factory as the hub instead of Toad Town itself. I've always found it weird how Toad Town seems to migrate all over the place. We should have a hub unique to SMWCP2, yet make sure it still has everything that people want (arcade, potentially a shop, etc).

Hey, that's a cool idea! With AddmusicM you can listen to any music in any level. This could be combined with some ASM patch that keeps track of which songs have been unlocked so far. Then, in the pub, there would be a juke box to listen to all the music you've unlocked.

Kil already coded Jukebox Blocks for ASMT, so we could simply use them somewhere. The music room could be unlocked using those collectible coins in the levels.
and another idea: if there's not toad town , else is toad city or village , a litle litle litle village , or a big big big city. or both of them , a ******* village , here is only a little shop and maybe some houses , and ******** city , where are the pub , the shop , and maybe a place where , from there you can fly ( with a plane , or with a superspetialultraflying cape) to any world you have seen , like the touch screen in new super mario bros

I'd be largely in favor of a shop that uses those special coins as mentioned in another thread. Thinking along the lines of Star Pieces from the Paper Mario games, where they'd be used to buy cool stuff (special powerups, extra levels, etc) rather than the usual powerups and 1-ups. It's almost always a better idea to just find a level with one of those things early on and farm 'em, defeating the purpose of a shop that sells such goods.

The special coins could also possibly function in a way like the Red Jewels did in Illusion of Gaia, where it serves as a reward system instead of actually having to spend on lower prizes, which most people would probably just save up for the big ones otherwise, making the lower value items moot.

That could work. I still kind of like the idea of a juke box in a pub, though. I guess instead we could do it something like this: Get the coin in a level and unlock the song from that level in the Juke Box. Or simply use the coins for something else alltogether. And instead of blocks I'd make it an actual jukebox in the background that is activated by pressing up.

Yeah. Seeing as how I'm (assuming) this hub would be in a factory area, the bonus things could even be on computers. As in, you could like .. activate a computer, and choose which "program" to run, such as the music player. There could be other stuff here as well, but this is just my random thought for now.
do you know kirby? in maybe all kirby games is a spetial room wich you only can acces when you passed all the game , where are ALL the powerups. if in this hack is going to be some new powerups , i don't know why it can't be one of this rooms.

or , you get special coins , and you can buy the song you want...

and , i think that i can make the pub , my mom works in a bar so... a bar a little mor dark is a pub XD

lol , a museum of enemyes like in yoshis island DS , and a powerup museum , but where you can get the powerups
