Most recent list? Click here!

So some of you may remember a while ago, some of the staff began posting up news reports containing links to recently submitted resources on the site in order to stop hacks using constantly the same resources. Needless to say this didn't last very long so I decided as a New Years gift to the site I'd take it upon myself to share out the new resources. Every half a month or so I will post a list of SMWC's latest approved submissions available for download.

I would much appreciate it if you PM'd me links to your submissions once they've been approved to make my life slightly easier.

There are probably many hidden gems that gut buried in our large sections so I strongly advise you to take a look through the lists. It could make your hack the individual icon it needs to be.

Anyway let's get this rolling:

Oh win. I always knew this was very useful. Great to have it again!
why not just go into whatever section it is and press 'sort by date'?

@Ixtab - People are either lazy or they do not know how to do that.
What you have to ask yourself is how many people will go out of their way to find the new resources. It's more convinient this way.

if someone's too lazy/dumb to go to a section and hit 'sort by date' (which is literally a button at the top), how to do expect them to find this thread?

my idea:
>click section link
>click date
>profit

your idea:
>click forums
>find hack discussion forum
>find this thread (albeit sticky)
>hope that you updated completely
>profit

edit: AND you don't even give a description, you just give a download link. What if someone wanted to know what Alcaro's 1 thousand times patch does? In this case most of the patches are bug fixes, but 1 thousand times? what's that?

Nah, this is a good idea. Like, you're making a game, you're not really LOOKING for something, but looking at a global thread like this, you can be curious, have a look, and quickly see a bunch of stuff and think 'hey, wait, maybe this could be useful?'

The categories are alright if you're looking for something in a specific category, while this is more of a global 'window shopping' thing.

(edit - I agree they could use brief descriptions or something)

This thread has things from 6 sections. So let's modify what you put there:

>click tool section link
>click date
>profit
>click graphics section link
>click date
>profit

>click music section link
>click date
>profit
>click blocks section link
>click date
>profit
>click sprites section link
>click date
>profit
>click patches section link
>click date
>profit

This thread:
>click forums
>find hack discussion forum
>find this thread
>hope that you updated completely
>profit x6

EDIT: This thread would be much better with descriptions, though.
What about resources that are rejected? Are these that which are in awaiting to be moderated, or those already accepted?

World Community Grid: Thread | Team

These are the ones that are accepted by the looks of it.
I change my layout every 4-5 months
Yes. I don't include anything on this list which hasn't passed moderation.

EDIT: As for descriptions, I will happily provide breif descriptions of the titles that I feel need explanation.

Currently the only thing there I feel needs a description is Alcaro's 1000 Times patch. This basically allows you to impliment times over 1000 seconds without the status bar glitching.

give a description of the graphics, music and boostrom patch too. If you're going to give one, why not all of them? I've never played quite a few of those games so I have no idea what the music would be suited for.

edit: and what do the sprites do? Fallen koopa? it falls down?

I'm with Ixtab on this. Honestly, people can just look up any section from the main page and click the 'Sort by date' button, it's there for a reason. I guess if people bookmark this page then my point is null and void though.

You should at least put descriptions for most of the files though. Otherwise, I suppose you're doing a pretty good job keeping us up to date with the latest files.
What you have to remember is the original system also had no descriptions. I'm really trying to emulate that. If there is enough request for descriptions on all of them I will add them but so far I'm going to stick descriptions on the ones that will need explaining only.

I think even if your "emulating2 the old thing you might aswell make it better by adding descriptions.
He's not even using this thread anymore, it was just a get-rich-quick scheme (oviuosly more of a get-sticky-quick), because I sent him a port as soon as it was accepted and he just ignored the thread completely and just said "Thanks".

Hopefully this post might make him realise that people actually visit this thread...
