Creating this thread to ask the community "What do we want in this hack to make it unique that can be done via ASM". Things to not discuss here:

- The Hub features. (use the thread dedicated to that)
- The SMWC Coin. (Already decided on)


Personally: I think we need to bring back two old powerups, The Hammer Suit and the Super Ball. Another thing I was thinking was looking into Yoshi's coding and altering it to make him less of game breaker.

So, what do you (the community) want?
A nice thing to have in the hack would be Boomerang Mario.

I think that it could be nice to include the kuribo's shoe powerup with the ability to save it in the item box.(and it doesn't need too many tiles to make it work.)
New powerups, but like I said in the other thread, unique powerups, please. Every capable Mario fangame ever has included the hammer suit as a powerup, and I think we would benefit from a bit of creativity, don't you?
I should get a new layout.

Eh, really I was thinking on the topic of Yoshi, to make him spawn eggs when swallowing an edible enemy and then throwing them like in YI. The problem with that, I am aware of too, is some people who use Yoshi for their levels may not agree with having him do such like in SMW2, Plus, the graphics space to do so, but the space wouldn't be hard to an advanced/pro hacker to get around. I just thought I'd throw this idea out, it'd be great to see it used right, many uses it could be for, like aiming puzzles, reflecting off of a wall to hit an object that'll make a door/wall disappear to go further, and so on.

What about bomb mario, he just throws a bomb which will explode after like 1 second, but can also hurt mario?

I agree here. It'd be great. Also, it'd be cool, if the p-switch would activate a certain type of autoscrolling.

Not sure if I'm posting in the right place, but I think it would be awesome if you could choose whether the run button makes you run or walk. In other words, I'd like the option of making Mario run by default.

to nerf yoshi, I think the best way would be to prevent the player from jumping back on him during the invincibillity frame and increase his running speed, it is currently way too easy to fall back on yoshi directly after getting hurt

A question which remains in my mind: Will it be an in-level inventory system or an inventory system like in SMB3 on the map? The first version could make levels easier, since we decided to keep levels. Then again it might make levels TOO easy.

I think it should be on the map like it was in SMB3. Selecting it from the inventory would put it in your item reserve box, and then you could drop it down when you start.

Or better yet, we can remove the "drop down" completely, and just making it so that pressing Select gives you the power-up right away.
Then I'd go even further and say you can select whether you want it in your item box or want to use it right away. This allows you to use a powerup right away and carry another additional one in your box. And if a powerup is currently in the item box it should be added to the inventory in exchange.

That. I love making powerups, I even have a few ideas TLMB and I came up with for our CLDC level that never ended up getting made.

1. Mole power. This did end up getting made, but man was it cool.

2. Ninja Mario: Gives you the ability to jump higher and walljump.

Eh, those are the only 2 I can think of right now, since TLMB was the one to write down the ideas, not me...
I encourage the coding of said powerups to begin as soon as possible for those interested in doing the ASM then. I don't want to start level signups until we at least have a few systems to work with.
A Ninja powerup should have shuriken and should be able to climb walls. Man, that would be so awesome, but could easily break any kind of level. However, if it was made very expensive that wouldn't be much of a problem. It would be like with the cape then: It can break levels, but since it's so rare that isn't much of a problem. Instead it's a bonus exclusive to that item.

We thought the shuriken would be to freaking cliche. I could make that if other people think it's a good idea, but I think the ability to turn invisible (Well, mostly invisible) to avoid damage would be much better. Climbing walls may or may not work, I'm not sure if people want something so breaking or not.
On the note of the Ninja, I think it would be incredible if the oriental castle actually incorporated a shuriken section - but I'd love to see the bomb shurikens from Kirby 64 more than anything. Those were downright hilarious, overpowered, and amazing.

Oh, I'm just fantasizing~
