Note to mods: Instead of bumping my old thread and cluttering it up, I decided to simply start a new, much neater thread. Thanks for Understanding.

Because of all the pictures and videos in this thread, I have disabled my layout for this post.

Hello, first off it you have not seen this hack before, you're in for a treat. This is a hack of The Legend of Zelda for the NES. I call it Link's Story: The Quest for Zelda.
As you can probably tell, this hack Stars Link as the main character, and again you have to rescue Princess Zelda. Same ole, Same ole, Right? Well yes...

--------------------
PLOT
Anyway, the main story is that Ganon has kidnapped the princess and taken the Triforce of Power. Zelda, in fear that Ganon's power would become to great if he obtain the 3 triforce, broke the Triforce of Courage in too 8 Shards. She hid them in the land of Hyrule never to be seen again.. but Ganon wanted otherwise. He ordered his troops to search all over the land for them. They found them alright, but Ganon is unable to leave his domain without fear that Zelda would escape. (His troops are that dumb) So instead his troops are ordered to keep them safe. Of course Ganon would expect some sort of Hero to come along as they do in the Storybooks. However up to now he has not seen any. The people of Hyrule are forced to seek refuge in secret Caverns. A lone boy must step up to the call to save the land.. this is where your adventure.. begins..

Well that's all I got to show. Please note that some screenshots and parts of the video may be outdated.
I also did not show all the screenshots, so I highly suggest that you take a look at the full album.

I hope you enjoy. Comments? Critism? Feedback? Post Here!
hi PowerStrike.

I'm not only into SMW hacking but I'm also into Zelda hacking.

So far your hack is showing some promise.

Few complaints/criticisms from me: > title screen of your hack hasn't been edited to reflect the name of your hack and the storyboard text also hasn't been edited. Also the "read me" file bundled with your hack needs some improvement, include details in future revisions of your read me file such as what programs/tools are needed for gamers to get your hack working (aka. IPS patcher like Lunar IPS, an NES emulator like FCE Ultra, etc.)

And believe it or not, you are not the only one that has created a recent Zelda1 NES hack. check out Nintendude88's Mystery Island Vesta (Zelda1) hack here:

I'm focusing my work on the actual levels and such before I work on other things. About the readme, I have yet to work much on it, since as I said, I'm focusing on design.. and if that sounds like an excuse.. well then I'm sorry. Plus, I already knew about both of those pages.

P.S. I'm working on a SMW hack, another hack,
and a couple of other projects, as such, I'm really busy.
that's ok, PowerStrike.

I've tested out your hack recently and I have found at least three areas on the overworld map that cause the game to crash & burn (meaning the game permanently freezes & locks up for good and the game will have to be reset to get things going again).

these areas on the overworld:

if Link goes in the directions he is facing, it will lead to the following:

those places displayed in the pictures above will make the game crash, bigtime [ah, pictures are worth a thousand words in an old saying]

Suggestion/recommendation is to block off passages that lead to game crashing areas in the overworld, until you have the time to implement those new areas in the overworld.

You can fix these problems easily by using Zelda Tech (overworld editor) by snarfblam.

'Sigh'... I am currently implementing these areas, and that is the tool I use, no need to point it out. What did you think I used to do that? As I am quite aware of what will happen.. but in no way should it cause the game to freeze... or rather.. this has yet to be reported to me or even experienced these.. as thus this most likely results in the need of more testing... what emulator were you using? It would help me with compatibility issues that may or may not happen.

... is there anything else you can report?.. Also.. to my knowledge.. I placed more dead ends.. are these the only ones that cause this sort of problem?
