Ok, it's finished, I took all my time. (Well, one month, I try to stay in the contest spirit by beginning the day the contest started, when I see some took 8 months to polish their level...)
Patch this on a 512Ko clear rom, it is normal if the rom you get after patching is 2048Ko instead of 1024Ko. Also, it was only tested with zsnes 1.51 because this is the only version I have so I don't know how other emulators will react.
From the promotional blurb:
"In a world best by magic and evil, one squat, pudgy man stands between salvation and uh, not salvation. Armed only with a cape and a green dinosaur, can you stem the forces of darkness before they engulf the Earth? Your fate is in your own hands."
Sea Brine Shrine, my entry.
Kinda disappointed in myself that I couldn't make it more interesting and creative. Blame de-motivation. It's kind of short, too, but I just didn't feel like making it longer, and it isn't supposed to be a hack-in-a-level anyways, so I don't care that much.
The hack also contains a bonus room(in a different level than the actual contest level), and a "resolution" cutscene level to resolve the conflict in the level(because of an issue I don't feel like explaining with the normal level(it has to do with winged yoshi sublevels not allowing level exits)).
I hope you guys enjoy it! I don't stand a chance this year, heh, but I had fun making most of the level, so whatever.
And if you find any issues with it, feel free to drop me a PM, I'd appreciate it.

Nope, I didn't forget. I may have waited until spring break to do it, but hey, here it is.
Mineral Mines [Edit: New URL]
I tried doing a follow-up level to last year's contest submission I made, Chalkroad Quarry. Needless to say I'm pleased with how it came out.
My entry is sort of iffy (mostly in length, I think it's pretty short), but since I can't really manage anything better in the one day left, here it is. And a low contest ranking is better than none, if only for (hopefully) a learning experience about how I'm actually doing in that "level design" area.
Mario Goes Home
EDIT: read through the discussion thread and it's looking like some of my exanimation trickery might be breaking rules. Consider the entry redacted for now, I guess.
edit again: Version with all exanimation removed. Also changed the overworld to a far lamer one that didn't push my luck so much. Fortunately neither was really important. Also changed the level itself to use slightly less kooky map16 trickery, but the entire first half was basically dependant on that design-wise so I couldn't really change it there. It shouldn't break any rules now.
(Still uses above title, I don't want to confuse anyone by removing the link)
Me again, I wasn't added already but I'm still making a new post because I made a new zip file, it contains the V2 of my level (because there were some glitches with graphics and I also edited a few things) and a text file.
