Yup, I'm starting up a new contest known as Monthly Musical Madness!
What's this? (Information)
Monthly Musical Madness is a music porting contest where (almost) anything goes. Each month is separate from the rest and (if made official) will reward a (currently) unknown prize. It will be judged by 2 or 3 judges (p4plus2, myself, and possibly another) on it's quality (how it sounds). Yup, don't worry about the accuracy and functionality categories from SMWCI2, they've all been rolled into quality.
No Items (Rules)
- Must have been ported by you, the contestant.
- Must adhere to the current SMWC music submission standards (Echo, ADSR, et c.)
Fox Only (What you can do)
- Compose your own compositions or use others.
- Use sample banks or .brr
Final Destination! (Due Date)
Since this is starting a week later than I wanted to, the contest will roll into March. You have 3 weeks, so March 5th to be exact.

Very nice. Now that I learned porting, I look forward to enter this contest, even if not every times. And hope this will encourage people to make even more epic ports.

Cool. Maybe this will get me back into porting and/or inspire some compositions. I assume we're allowed to use any N-SPC commands we want (including SPC-700 code, once the new Addmusic is out)?

This is actually a nice idea - I didn't know you had planned this. Unlike SMWCI, it feels like a light little contest that anyone can join in whenever they want if they're bored.
Huh. I might even cook up a badge for this to give out to the monthly winner. We'll see.

That music contest seems to be very cool and fun. I'm planning to participate, but I can't promise anything since I'm usually busy with lots of things, both related to SMW hacking and whatnot.
love to see more people participate, i dont know that many people who can port.
This is the most fun port I've ever made from scratch. Figured I'd make it my submission.

Hmm...for posts of pre-existing music are remixes allowed? Or are we going to be judged on how close we are to the original?

Tune 4 from Oh No! More Lemmings!. I also submitted it to the music section, this is just a backup in case that one is rejected for whatever reason. It requires AddmusicM.
One of my favorite songs, but not really one of my best ports. Oh well. Compatible with Addmusic4, since there's really no samples involved or anything, unlike most other submissions so far.
When did sample porting become so popular anyways? It's good to see a shift towards higher quality music.
