12A: Pyro-Cryo Castle - Pikerchu13

Complete

I think he means: Is the ice zone of the castle going to be a fridge?

Just a wild guess.
woag.....

(previously superdragonyoshi1. sup yall.)
He probably wants to see some screenshots of the ice area.
I don't know what he meant by 'Fridge', though.

Anyway, the color of the BG in the latest screenshot looks way better than the one in the first screenshot.

Good luck with the ExAnimation!
Sorry I haven't updated in a while, I have to take my finals, and well, I haven't had enough time to work on my level. Progress will resume after Monday though, as that's when I take my last finals.
Well, I keep trying and trying, and I have no clue what's happening, but my ExAnimation isn't appearing in the editor OR the game. I have no clue what's happening, or if it's LM 1.8's crazy animation thing. Can someone explain to me how to do this in order to make sure I'm not stupid?

I should have something witty to put here (even if it's just to update dated info), shouldn't I?

- Make sure that "Enable Lunar Magic's level animation" is checked. (Coin icon in the toolbar.)
- Make sure that you have an ExGFX file loaded into the animation slot.

Did you remember to set a) the animation type, b) the trigger (if applicable), c) the number of frames, and d) the destination?

I can't believe I forgot that. My animations work now.

Yeah, it's always the simple things that get us. While you're still messing with ExAnimation, make sure that SMW's global palette animation (like what was used for Yoshi Coins) is disabled, since the collab isn't using it.

All right, I got some things going on. Now, one last question. Is there anyway to make a tile animate in a way where when a switch is pressed, it just makes an short animation that ends and doesn't repeat. It would really help. Otherwise, I'll have to devise some complicated method to turn X into Y in a not ugly way.
Yes: use one of the custom One Shot triggers. The Lunar Magic help file has information on how to use them.

The intro screen.

Continue moving, and you reach a lava river that you can't pass.

Travel through the waterfall to an area that has an item you can't get with the Yellow Switch pressed.

This is the end so far, but what is that chain doing?

Aha! A secret area! I'm going to place a SMWC Coin here.

Guess the gimmick, come on, guess!
That series of screenshots doesn't exactly lead me to a smorgasbord of logical conclusions, especially considering that last square room looks like it's in the middle of nowhere in a very nonsequiturish way...

If I had to guess, though, I'd say the water cools the uppermost lava tiles into rock through some mechanism.

Yeah, there's not enough to go by to see what you're trying to pull off. By the way, try not to make extensive usage of the Switch Palace blocks off this and that, unless you're trying to incorporate some sort of "final exam" theme into the level as well. But even then, keep it in small doses.

For consistency purposes, give the brighter long ice pillar (in the first screen) layer priority while the darker one has no priority. Plus the icicles need to be filled in from the transparency they currently have.

Other than those, still, there's not much to go by so far, so keep us posted.

Just as AxemJinx said, there's not much to say right now, you only have three screenshots, and I don't see any dangers besideds the lava and some spikes.

I like how you hid the SMWC coin, although it's similar to the one in Darky's level, so the player could easly guess the trick if they went through that level (assuming they haven't forgotten about it).

Oh well, there are 5 worlds between :P

I always had the pillars that way. Also, I like the transparency on the icicles, it makes it seem more "Icy" instead of "Snowy".
to me they look like they have dirt in them...

Because they're transparent, and you're not playing the game. I honestly think I should make them more transparent.

As you can see, in real life, Icicles ARE transparent.

Anyway, because I can't double post, here's a status updatos.

Now, here's the starting room, well, how it's supposed to look, but for some reason, like one nanosecond afterwards, it becomes this:

I'm not going to complain though, since I actually kind of like it. Anyway, that ON switch there is going to be removed eventually, but I just put it there to show the level's gimmick.

Here is the Level(Well, what I've done so far) when the switch is on:

And here's the level when it's turned off (The grey Lava Falls don't move by the way, since it's rock):

Also, here's the starting room when it's off:

I see, so everything shifts its state of matter. You may want to consider having gas turn into water, too :b

I'm not sure about having everything so greyscale, though. Or maybe that's just my aesthetic taste?

Well, actually, things are freezing over. The reason for the greyscale, which is actually a very dull blue, is because all the red in the background is gone.
