  • Exactly what I was looking for. Thanks!
How would one best send Layer 3 to the very back of Layer 2 without affecting the status bar?

Layer 3 scrolls vertically very slowly, but never gets cut-off by the status bar, because of how it's all placed.

Is there a vanilla way to just have everything Layer 3 but the status bar behind Layer 2?

I think so but no sure what.
Is it the better RNG patch?
I think there is a framerule patch somewhere (probably discord), but I can't it: is it that patch?
    Thanks

It appears that it's not the better RNG patch

Does anyone recall the hex edits to allow screen exits to be used properly in the intro level (C5)? I remember making this fix for a previous hack, and I searched the ROM map and can no longer find it.
Can I make Layer 2 FG opaque, but the rest normal in my level? I'm making a level for VLDC11 and I wanna know if it's possible to make it vanilla?

EDIT: Never mind. I've figured it out. It's mode 1F. I didn't pay attention for information underneath the collapsible menu.
I have a Discord server as well! (by joining, you agree to the rules)

Basically, I believe in peace and bashing two bricks together.

I've been off-and-on researching this since circa-2011 and have basically come to my own conclusions, but I figured I'd throw this question out there anyway even if I basically know the answer already:

I'd been looking for a SMW toolkit that works for Mac that doesn't require diving down any peripheral applications in order to function, and that does not require emulating/wine/etc any other OS in order to run as well. I'm like 99% sure it does not exist from my own research, but I've never really raised the question to people in-the-know before.
Hi guys, relatively new to this, but enjoying learning. Anyone got a link to a scrolling pipes guide? I can’t seem to find one. Thanks
Ok, found ghb’s scrolling pipes guide and installed it. Everything seems to work fine apart from Marios sprite. He flashes and glitches a bit. Any ideas? Sorry if this is in the wrong section. I’m a noob.
1st question - can U plug a SNES chinese controller (its USB from what I saw) on a Wii or any other controller and play SMW rom hacks from a Wii, using an emulator?

2nd question - does the SNES model or version (as im looking to get a brazilian one, from GRADIANTE, its basically identical but smaller) interferes with rom hacks, or u just need a cartridge-compatible console and that SD2SNES to play rom hacks from a SNES?

U do all the patching to a ROM HACK from PC, right?

Maybe, I don't know how they map inputs though.

I've never seen a Brazilian SNES, but the SD2SNES is meant to be region unlocked. I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work.

Yeah, we do. BPS patches these days.

How do I get a charging chuck to break through turn blocks? It always seems to just jump in front of the blocks instead of breaking through them.

Are you sure the acts-like setting of those turn blocks is the correct one? Maybe they look like turn blocks but they act like other type of block.
Why does sometimes the tile priority doesn't work?
I've had it in the past too. I have decorative tiles acting like 25 (I tried 3F too), with priority so it is over Mario, but sometimes it doesn't work and appears behind him (I made it successfully with bushes or columns in the past).
I bet it's a dumb simple solution, but I can't find it (and I hope it's dumb and simple, so I can fix it)

(the whole ceiling has priority, the dirt tile and the solid tile)

Ah, I was using turn blocks with "nothing" inside. I switched to the 2x2 turn blocks and now it is working. Thanks for the help!

Are you in a vertical level, or using some uncommon level mode? Some modes are set to ignore layer priority by default. Try applying this patch to change that:

    Code
    !LevelMode = $0A ; or whatever you're using
    org $0584B7+!LevelMode
    	db $30

Im looking for a patch that reduces the slowdown you get when you use many sprites with the NMSTL patch.

As far as I know, Storks and Invictus dont feature SA-1 cause of some compatibility drawbacks right, but they use ton of sprites without slowing down a bit.

Try enabling fastrom, by checking the two options for it under the "options" menu in LM. Note that you may want to reapply any tools/patches so that they can update their addressing as well.

It also just depends on the sprites you're using, though. If a sprite is extremely complicated, you won't be able to use as many of it at a time before the game starts slowing down; simpler sprites, on the other hand, can be used with minimal impact.

Seems to work fine, I put 3 Banzai Bills together to check the slowdown. Thanks Thomas.

Oh ok, that seems pretty random that it doesn't work in vertical levels.
The fix works BUT it's db $20, not db $30 (in case someone else wants to use the fix)

Am I dreaming or is there a cloud with time limit in SMW?
I know there is the cloud that you insert as a cloud and has no time limit, but I was sure there was a cloud with time limit, that you could get with an enemy (like a lakitu, if you kill it). But I jumped on a lakitu and everything despawned

Or am I mistaking with Mario Maker? (which might be possible but would worry me a bit #tb{:DD})
